It is our pleasure to offer this 1991 Porsche 964 Turbo finished in Paint to Sample Meteor Grey Metallic.  The 964 Turbo was debuted in March of 1990 and represented the most powerful 911 in Porsche’s lineup.  One of only 674 1991 examples produced for the U.S. market, this Turbo came generously equipped with heated Sport Seats, a limited-slip differential, and a custom-tailored Matador Red leather interior with Light Rootwood trim, a special center console, and extended leather upholstery covering virtually every surface and touchpoint.  Originally delivered with over $20k worth of options, this 1991 example has been recently serviced and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York while showing approximately 18k miles on the odometer.

This Turbo was ordered in the rare Paint to Sample shade of Meteor Grey Metallic.  The seller notes that the car has been recently treated to a full professional detail and an application of clear SunTek paint protection film over the entire front end.  The car is described to be in excellent condition throughout, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  Distinguishing characteristics of the 964 Turbo include wide flared fenders, streamlined aero mirrors, and a Tea Tray rear spoiler.  The factory 17” Cup Design aluminum alloy wheels feature optional colored center crests and come dressed in a set of Michelin tires.

Inside, you will find a specially crafted interior by Porsche’s Special Wishes Department.  The heated Sport Seats are trimmed in Matador Red leather along with the dashboard, door panels, and central tunnel.  Extended leather upholstery also covers nearly every touchpoint including the steering wheel, parking brake tray, seatback levers, window switches, mirror adjusters, air vents, fuel door release, turn signal and wiper stalks, door locking rosettes and knobs, sun visors, seatbelt locks and housings, inner door handles, B-pillar covers, climate control panel, seat switches, and dashboard control knobs.  A special center console with a revolving ashtray and CD storage was also equipped along with Light Rootwood trim throughout the dashboard and instrument surround.  Other options include heated front seats, a sunroof, and a rear window washer system. The cabin appears entirely original with the factory Porsche CD-2 radio remaining in place.

The 964 Turbo carried over the 3.3L turbocharged and intercooled flat-six engine from the outgoing 930 model, with revisions including a new intake and exhaust system, updated Bosch Motronic programming, a larger turbocharger, and a dual-mass flywheel.  As much as 315 HP and 332 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed G50/52 manual transmission with a limited-slip differential.  Compared to a standard 964 Carrera, the Turbo model also offered a stiffened suspension with larger anti-roll bars and an upgraded braking system with cross-drilled rotors and larger four-piston fixed calipers.  Recent service carried out in preparation for sale includes an oil change, brake fluid flush, belt replacements, and a full inspection of all systems.

This sale will include the original toolkit, spare tire, and a clean title.  A beautiful representation of Porsche's Special Wishes craftsmanship, this exceptionally well-preserved 964 Turbo is a perfect fit for any world-class car collection or museum.  Do not miss your chance to own what is undoubetedly one of the most generously appointed 964's in existence.

    What an incredible treasure !!!!
A 964 turbo with this mileage is already extremely special. When you add the paint and special wishes interior, you have created something to be appreciated for many generations.

Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas had the car for sale for over 2.5 years. It was in effect a certified porsche classic car maintained by their mechanics during this time. This is positive for the cars history after the PEC aution to present.

This is an insane spec but have to say that black airbag looks out of place here. Was it ordered that way or was it a replacement?

@EUROsellinc Thank you for the offer to retake the paint meter readings. As mentioned before, I used to own this car for two years so I know it fairly well! Please just make designate where the paint meter is placed so we can all tell where you are doing the reading. As far as the roof is concerned please retake the reading there and also the actual sunroof itself.

  • ianbsears (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@seller - can you please post a few more photos of the tea tray spoiler (top, sides, rear).

    Many thanks

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@momotime Thank you for pointing that out. There is no way that the roof is a 34, I must have not been holding it flat. We will re measure and repost. Yes the higher readings are on the nose and the entire nose does have clear film. Please bear in mind this is a special wishes car with PTS and the factory may have retouched certain areas to ensure perfection. The last thing I would want I is a dissatisfied buyer so I take it seriously when I say that the paint is consistent in shade and consistency. I see zero evidence of paintwork (fish eyes, excessive orange peel, tape lines, color mismatch etc) on any of the metal panels of this car. Hope this helps.

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@momotime Hi, I will try to get that but I would say it was done within the past 6 months. The car was used for some special events in Nevada by Porsche.

Sold for $210K at auction. In 2018, which was kind of the "Bottom" of the Turbo run-up that peaked in late 2015/early 2016. Following the overall market run-up, worth a lot more than that now (if we feel the auction result was reflective of true value then).

  • momotime (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@EUROsellinc just looked. Ok it is a bit confusing because on a few images I cannot tell where on the car the paint meter is placed! I see the roof is 34.2 >?? Where are the 12.06 and the 12.59 readings from on the car. I see the f trunk is at 15.32 so please confirm there is clear bra here. Also please advise f fender meter readings.

  • momotime (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@EUROsellinc thanks for the update re. paint meter readings. I will look this evening to see if the readings were posted. You say front end has been clear protected. Please advise exactly where on the car this was done and when was it applied. Perhaps a receipt from the facility that installed it would be also most helpful.

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@KvN yes indeed! the spindles are leather. Whoever spec'd this one went nuts! I know the color you are talking about on the 997, though they share the same name, the color is a few shades different. Thanks for looking.

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@911reasons we will get some added momentarily

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@momotime Hello and yes, the car comes with the original window sticker, books and records. Photos of those items are being added to the gallery.

I also just submitted readings. Bear in mind, protection film has been installed on the nose of the car resulting in higher readings. The passenger rear quarter comes up around 6.5-7.0 mils, however, we closely inspected the paint on this car under scrutinizing lighting and find no evidence of paintwork whatsoever. We invite in person inspections as well.

  • momotime (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

To Seller. please post paint meter readings on entire car. Thank you.

@EUROsellinc she's a stunner. Leather door lock spindles?? WOW

Anyone know when Meteor Grey Metallic went off PTS to become just a "regular" colour?

Reason I ask, is I have the '12 997.2 TTM in the same paint but it's not listed as a PTS on my build sheet.

GLT seller & lucky buyer alike. Unicorn here!

@Analog_911 I had no issues with the car. I purchased it from the original owner around 2014 and sold it circa two years later at RM Auctions in Atlanta.
    Its a great car.

  • PCARMARKET_MODERATOR 2 years, 6 monthsago

This vehicle's mileage has been updated and the correct figure is reflected in the information box.

  • Analog_911 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@momotime - Great to have a previous owner. Did you run into this auction by accident, or did someone alert you to this auction of your previous car?

Do you remember roughly when you bought it, and when you sold it?

Do you remember why you sold it?

Did you have any issues with the anti-lock breaking system, which was introduced in the 1989 964 model year? The real I ask is that I sold my Black/Black 1990 964 around 2001-2002 after 7 years of ownership, and in the last 4 years being unable to get the Porsche Dealership to fix my anti-lock breaks. Very frustrating ... and dangerous.

@Ummmmm Hello and thank you for your interest. Ironically, the console holds an iPhone perfectly so it comes in very handy. It also has a storage section for CD’s as this car is equipped with an in dash CD player. I inspected the paint very carefully and it appears to be in original condition with no signs of any prior repairs. Inspections welcome.

Can you post the COA? All original paint been verified? Thank you.

Saw this car in person today in Newport… it’s amazing

  • momotime (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

I purchased this car many years ago from the original owner in Virginia. Immediately upon arrival I had a 100 point service performed and put new tires on the car. It is a spectacular car with no stories. Original owner was a very nice gentleman lawyer in Va. and the car came in exactly as he represented it. I sold the car at RM Auctions at the Porsche Only sale in Atlanta at the PEC. Whoever buys the car will obtain a one of one spectacular car. good luck to both buyer and seller.

@BarryLe Change out the wood? Sacrilege! Am I correct in understanding even the window up/down switches are covered in leather? Man, I hope one never fails. What an amazing car. The original owner must have had a few bucks to go that far.

  • jonas1jp (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Porsche just couldn’t muster the energy to develop a red center for the steering wheel? Bizarre. Certainly an interior that was highly optioned. Unlikely to find another like it. Rare piece that will do well here. Best of luck!

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Spectacular build! I have never seen so much custom interior work in a 964. It is beautifully done by the factory. If I were to change one thing, I would replace the root wood dash trim with carbon fiber trim built by DB Carbon. Otherwise, just a perfect car that should bring all the money and then some!
