Debuted in 1989, the 944 S2 was the final iteration of Porsche’s renowned water-cooled transaxle sports car and was the first of its kind to be offered in a Cabriolet version. This 1991 Porsche 944 S2 is one of less than 3,000 Cabriolets sold in the U.S. during the model's three-year production run and features a Guards Red finish over a black upholstery along with a 5-speed manual transmission. A lifelong California car, this reported one-owner example is now being offered for auction while showing approximately 72k miles on the odometer.

The redesigned 944 S2 model is distinguishable from its predecessors by a more rounded front end and rear valence borrowed from the 944 Turbo model along with “16 Ventiler” script badges on the front fenders. This example is finished in Guards Red with a black cabriolet top and has been fitted with a Porsche-branded vinyl front-end cover. This 944 S2 rides on 16” Porsche Design 90 wheels with Pirelli PZero Rosso tires from May 2023. The seller notes several small rock chips, and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black partial leather interior includes power seats, windows, and mirrors as well as air conditioning, a digital clock, and a Porsche CD-2 sound system. The seller notes very slight signs of usage and reports all gauges, electronics, & accessories to be working properly. Additional photos are provided in the gallery.

This 944 S2 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline 4-cylinder 16-valve engine generating as much as 208 HP and 207 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. A maintenance inspection and an oil change were completed by Porsche Fresno in June of 2023. The seller states that some service documentation will accompany the sale.

This sale includes two keys, some documentation, a set of “Porsche” embroidered floor mats, and a clean title.

@Pcar968 correct, unsure of when the timing belt was last done.

The radio code card is included.

  • PorSchean (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@Pcar968 must be from a different listing, I'm not seeing it on my side.

  • Pcar968 (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

Oh and the third video displayed is of a turbo’ed Colorado car. I think that’s from a different listing. Right?

  • Pcar968 (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

So unsure about when timing belt was last done?

And the No code reading on factory radio is the code at hand in the paperwork?

  • PorSchean (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@DiamondDealer I have added undercarriage shots to the gallery, they should be up soon.

As for the top, I don't have a record to whether or not it has been replaced, the Porsche tech that did all of the recent work to the car thinks that the top has been replaced at some point due to how good of condition it is. However, replaced or original, the top is a Porsche Genuine Part.

  • DiamondDealer (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

    Thank you for the clarification.
Do you have any photos of the undercarriage and is the top original?

  • PorSchean (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@DiamondDealer We are a Porsche Dealership, so the buyer of this car will be the second owner.

  • DiamondDealer (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

So, if I am reading this correctly the post says one owner but it’s actually will be the third owner to the next buyer.
    Am I correct?

  • PorSchean (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

With a couple of hours left on this 944, I'll be standing by to answer any questions!

@3L944T I do not know the exact timing on the replacement of those, as when the original owner of this 944 brought it to our dealership, I was only able to pull what we have done here within the past several years.

The most recent service items with a service date of 10/19/2023:

    -All 4 tires were replaced
    -CA smog test
    -hood struts replaced
-power steering pump and seals replaced

we need some bon jovi in this thing

  • PorSchean (seller) 5 months, 4 weeksago

@9146max Thank you for the great questions, the A/C does blow strong and cool! The glove box is still on the hinges, just does not have a stop - the original plastic cover is still on the metal portion of the inner glove box.

Other than those and several small rock chips, the car is a great example of a 944!

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • 9146max (registered bidder) 5 months, 4 weeksago

Does AC blow cold? Any paintwork? How’s the paint under the bra? I noticed the glove box and center console is broken.. anything else? Ever cigarette smoked inside?
