Finished in Polar Silver Metallic over a Cobalt Blue interior, this 1991 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 Coupe was originally designated for accession at the Porsche factory in Germany through Porsche’s Tourist Delivery Program and comes equipped with a 5-speed G50 manual transmission. It was acquired by the seller out of Alaska in 2023 from its previous owner of 20 years and has since undergone a custom engine 3.8-liter engine rebuild including Super Cup cams, Carrillo rods and pistons, a new dual-mass flywheel, a Steve Wong performance chip, and a Fabspeed exhaust system. It also received a rebuilt and reinforced transmission as well as new brakes, suspension, electronics, and tires. This 964 restomod is now being offered for auction out of Arizona with approximately 112k miles showing on the odometer and just over 2k miles driven on the rebuilt engine.

This 964 is finished in Polar Silver Metallic (L92E) and features an electric sunroof, an optional rear window wiper, headlamp washers, front fog lights, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. New black brake calipers with white Porsche lettering are mounted behind factory 16” Design 90 wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The car rides on a set of new Laufen tires and the seller notes some scratches are present in the paint as well as a small spot of peeled clear coat on the driver’s side door and a paint bubble on the bottom of the passenger-side A-pillar. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this 964 features a Cobalt Blue (QR) interior with optional supple leather upholstery for the seats. Accessories include power windows and mirrors, 4-way power-adjustable seats, a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, automatic climate control, a center console cassette holder, a quartz clock, a locking glovebox, custom Coco floor mats, an Alpine Bluetooth stereo, and an aftermarket cup holder mounted on the central air vent. The seller indicates new sensors have been installed along with a new wiring harness and oil pressure gauge. All accessories and electronics remain fully functional although the check engine light appears for 5-10 seconds upon startup.

Power comes from an air-cooled M64 flat-six engine that has been rebuilt to a 3.8-liter displacement including Carrillo rods and pistons, Super Cup cams, a new dual-mass flywheel, a Steve Wong performance chip, and a high-flow Fabspeed exhaust system. All four wheels are driven through a rebuilt and reinforced 5-speed G50 manual transmission with a new clutch. New axles have also been installed along with new suspension and brakes. The seller notes that the engine’s initial break-in service has been completed and just over 2k miles have been driven since it was rebuilt.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, some documentation, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. This 964 has been rebuilt to 964 RSR engine spec. I have not been able to dyno, but the builder’s estimation is 300 HP. New 3.8 engine with Steve Wong performance chip. Rebuilt transmission, dual mass flywheel, and new clutch. Fabspeed exhaust and new axles. New brakes and tires.  All new sensors, plugs, and fuel pump. This is a smooth fast 911. I drove it from Tacoma to Las Vegas. The desert was made for this 964. Tracking is ultra-straight, and the grip is tight. Take a look at the paperwork photos to see all of the items included in this car.”

I saw the indicator light arrows were askew, but they were evenly askewed. I just thought it was a German thing and didn't pay much attention
We did replace the oil pressure gauge so the dash was out at one point. Noticed nothing on high beam lights

  • Levi (registered bidder) 4 months, 3 weeksago

@GregRuge5255 yes, photo 53, seems like turn signals with high beam in between…peeling may be caused by lights heating up

  • Levi (registered bidder) 4 months, 3 weeksago

Really nice drivers car! Just wondering how can the tachometers face plate peel in that odd way? Were the cluster gauges taken apart?

Pretty much upgraded everything. It isn't a Singer but it is an original PORSCHE 964 with some very respectful modifications. Perhaps 17" tires or maybe monoball suspension? Maybe a Safari conversion? Yes, there is still room for some things. But that's probably true with any car less than $300K. Have you looked at the clear and legible records that detail the modifications, upgrades and repairs?

  • PorschePhanatic 4 months, 3 weeksago

@GregRuge5255 Sorry - I think my comment was meant to be posted on another car.

    Great car!

  • GregRuge5255 (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

Just talked to my mechanic and he said I actually do have a catalytic converter. I thought he said I got rid of them. The chip actually has nothing to do with emissions testing. It is basically fuel mapping. The only reason it MAY not pass emissions is some areas will not certify modification. That's is good to know. I have everything required for testing.

  • GregRuge5255 (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

Celatoa, Thank you for the comment. It is strange how the engine and transmission needed so much work, but the exterior and interior held up so nicely. He must have kept it garaged. So yeah, it was in rough condition, mechanically, but now.....brought back to life bigger and better than before. You know, engine and transmission, if it actually dynos 300 HP, it is 964 RSR spec. Never dyno tested. As far as the Wong performance chip, I will find out. From what I have been able to gather so far is it is not passing some emissions test due to straight exhaust with no cats. I put new ones on my Cayenne for about $3200 front and back if memory serves me.

  • GregRuge5255 (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

I uploaded some photos of the driver side wheel well. As you can see it is flawless. The pad is also show. It is about 1" thick and foam with a rubber top liner. Evidently it cracked and the previous owner taped it up. Same with the passenger side but not nearly as much. No pics of passy side because it is different and extends all the way up the inside firewall. I tried to upload videos on next cloud but it would just flash errors. Hope this helps

what an interesting example; looks like it had a hard life up in AK, practically rebuilt in the past couple years! Do we know if a car w/a Steve Wong chip will pass CA emissions? Are they easily removed/turned off?

  • CA993TT (registered bidder) 4 months, 3 weeksago

@GregRuge5255 Yes, I saw it posted towards the end of the pictures. Thanks!

LHJCC, I appreciate meeting other Porsche enthusiasts. I have done my best to bring out the almost flawless nature of a 911. It's not perfect but it's close enough for a 32 yr old car.

  • Lhjcc77 (registered bidder) 4 months, 3 weeksago

Looks like a great drivers car to have fun! And with with the coco mats in place, I’d be happy and not thinking about the insulation panel!

    Nice car.

  • GregRuge5255 (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

All, I have taken a video of both floor wells and they are completely sound. The videos will be posted tomorrow...I am thinking. The sound/insulation inserts are still workable but I will order one for each side anyway. I do not feel comfortable pulling the passenger side insert since it goes up the firewall and is still in pretty good shape except for one cut. I taped it back up so we're quiet again. If in the future you feel the need to replace it, you'll be ready. I read it can be a bit time consuming. I hope this resolved any concerns about the integrity of the floor wells.

  • GregRuge5255 (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

LHJCC, thank you very much for pointing the photo out. I did pull the top mats when I first found the 911. Then put Coco mats down. What we are seeing is the cracking of the insulation/sound deadening layer. Looks like a rubber based material. I looked on the Internet and found that these are about $116 each side. For apparently such a common problem, there was a lot of chatter on the forums. I will order this layer for both sides today. To both of you and pruveit, thanks for pointing this out. The floors feel solid. I will pull tape and confirm with photos.

I believe pruveit is referring to picture 49 which shows duct tape on the floor under where the mat lies.

It will be interesting to see how this one does given its condition.

Not sure what you are looking at. No duct tape on this 911

  • pruveit 4 months, 3 weeksago

    Hi.
Noticing all of the duct tape… what’s under the duct tape??
