The ZR-1 was introduced in 1990 as the most powerful and high-performance Corvette yet, equipped with an all-aluminum 5.7L V8 LT5 engine developed in collaboration with Lotus. This 1992 example is finished in Polo Green Metallic II over a Light Beige leather interior and is said to be one of 37 examples produced in this color for the model year. It was first titled in Massachusetts before relocating to Connecticut where it was acquired by the seller in 2020. Showing approximately 49k miles on the odometer, this collectible ZR-1 is now being offered at auction by its seller out of Connecticut.

This 1992 ZR-1 was ordered in Polo Green Metallic II (91) and features two removable targa tops, one paint-matched to the exterior and the other in a bronze-tinted translucent glass. The C4 ZR-1 featured model-specific bodywork including widened rear quarter panels and a convex rear fascia with squared-off taillights. Other details include painted mirror caps, pop-up headlights, integrated front fog lights, fender vents, quad exhaust outlets, and a ZR-1 badge on the tail panel. The seller notes two scratches on the lower front bumper, a small imperfection on the passenger-side windshield, and a paint chip on the front of the hood. An invoice also shows the front bumper was refinished at around 37k miles. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The 17” “Sawblade” machined wheels are mounted with Goodyear Eagle GS-C tires.

The interior features six-way power-adjustable sport seats upholstered in Light Beige leather with matching carpeting and door panels. Amenities include automatic climate control, a trip computer, power windows and locks, cruise control, power heated side mirrors, a low tire pressure warning system, and a Delco-Bose Gold Series stereo with a cassette and CD player. The seller reports two bypass switches have been installed, one to bypass the first to second gear RPM drop and the other to bypass the key fob for ignition. The seller also reports wear and a small hole on the driver's seat bolster.

The C4 ZR-1 is powered by an all-aluminum 32-valve quad-camshaft LT5 V8 manufactured by Mercury Marine of Stillwater, Oklahoma. The LT5 was factory rated at 375 HP and 370 lb.-ft of torque when new and drives the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and mechanical limited-slip differential. The ZR-1 can accelerate from 0-60 in less than 5 seconds with a top speed of 180 MPH. Performance features include steering, braking, and suspension systems designed in collaboration with Lotus, Bilstein FX3 adaptive suspension with three driving modes, Touring, Sport, and Performance, and Acceleration Slip Regulation (ASR) traction control. The seller states the air conditioning was converted to R134 refrigerant in 2003, the fuel injector gasket and fuel injectors were replaced in 2006, the headlight motors were rebuilt in 2018, and a new clutch master cylinder was installed in 2019.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, targa tops, and a car cover.

    I have had 2 ZR1's a 91 and a 94. They are great cars and can be easily worked on. The skip shift bypass is pretty common and I would definitely leave it in. The key of this era had a chip in it and I haven't heard of issues with it, in order to have a spare key made you just had to measure the resistance of the chip. Not a big issue with this bypass either. I just sold my 94 about 9 months ago and here I am looking at another!!!!!

    Thanks much.

    @floman Thank you.
    Yes, both are very easy installs and can be removed easily. The Skip Shift Eliminator Bypass allows you to shift from 1st to 2nd at under 2,000 rpm. Without the bypass, you are forced to shift from 1st to 3rd at low rpm. Chevy installed to save fuel. Not sure why. You can Google if you like to get more information. It’s a factory install that you can only bypass or not.
    The other bypass is for the GM VATS key . I read where the key could present a problem. Another simple bypass under the steering column. Can be removed and I never had an issues. Was more proactive install. Hope this helps.
