A two-door version of the W124 sedan, the Mercedes-Benz C124 Coupe was produced from 1988 until 1996. The 300CE version was offered exclusively in North America until 1992 and featured Mercedes’ new M104 engine beginning in 1990. This 1992 example is finished in Arctic White over a black leather interior and was acquired by the seller out of a major German car collection in March of 2023. It is said to be factory-equipped with a lowered and stiffened sport suspension, a quick ratio steering rack, heated bolstered sport seats, a 390mm steering wheel, and the full burl wood package.  Having undergone recent service, this 300CE is now being offered for auction by its seller in New Hampshire while showing just over 117k miles on the odometer.

This C124 is finished in Arctic White with grey lower body cladding, black bumper moldings, and a chrome front grille. Equipment includes a rear fender-mounted antenna, headlamp washers and wipers, heat-insulating glass, a heated rear window, and upgraded 17” AMG monoblock wheels dressed in Kumho tires from 2018. The seller notes the original wheels are also included and the car underwent a recent detail including paint correction, wax, and chip touch-ups. The front headlight lenses were also replaced along with the installation of clear Euro-spec marker lights. Some cosmetic imperfections are noted including a dent on the passenger side door, bubbles and paint chips on the trunk lid, and a ding on the rear center of the roof and driver’s door. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with an accident-free CARFAX report.

The black leather interior features burl wood trim, electrically adjustable and heated seats with driver’s side memory, a 390mm steering wheel, and an electric tilt/slide sunroof. Other accessories include an outside temperature indicator, cruise control, an electrically adjustable steering column, automatic climate control, a folding front armrest, illuminated vanity mirrors, and a sound system with an aftermarket radio. The seller notes the cabin has been thoroughly detailed, the tachometer works intermittently, and the outside temperature gauge is inoperable.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter M104 inline-six engine rated at 217 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car also features a lower and stiffer sports suspension and a quick ratio steering rack from the factory. Recent service is said to include a brake fluid flush, new spark plugs, a distributor cap and rotor, new temperature sensors, and a coolant test.

This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know:Thanks for checking out my auction. This a just a great old Mercedes. One of the best driving cars I have had the opportunity to own. Plenty of power and handles and rides fantastic. With the AMG wheels, it has that cool 90s vibe!”

@eunos1990 The car has been parked outside in the rain on and off and I haven’t seen any water building up in the trunk. I can’t say the seal is good or bad but it is 31 years old. As for the cat, yes it has been remove and it is not load at all. Sounds a bit loader then stock but a nice note. A good sporty sounds! Thanks for the questions.

Good morning! Just had one question and one mention: Do you know if there is an issue with the trunk seal? I noticed surface rust in the spare well in pic 123, and some water on the lower right side of the plastic spare cover in pic 124. Thanks. And the mention: I see that the catalytic converter is removed, and two straight pipes were welded in place. This CE is probably a tad bit louder and a tad more powerful than stock. In Virginia, there's no emissions testing after 25 years, but it MIGHT not pass State Inspection for a normally registered/tagged driver (an issue for other states?). Anyway, lovely example and GLWTA!

@JimHawkins I am the seller and all the pictures are of the same car. I just added the sportline badge after seeing one come through the shop. His sportline was idenical to this car except for the shift knob. Thanks for the bit about the car you owned. I agree this is a great driving car with plenty of power and very reliable.

@Doc18015 The car does not have a salvage title. If you read the Carfax completely you will see that it was entered by mistake/in error back in feb of 2000 . The Report stated the correction. The one at the bottom of the report is the error that was never removed from the Carfax report. It also states not reposrted. IF you look the car was stolen and recovered two day later and was issued then in error. This car has a clean Title.

Listed a "savage title" in NY, second time, please confirm present title status and why Carfax for the second time in NY has it as salvage. Thank you

@pawerks37 I gotta say I'm a little confused. Are you also the seller? Or were you sorting out this particular car on behalf of the seller? And ngl I was starting to think you were gonna say you inadvertently included pictures of the other (Sportline) car.
For those looking at this car, I had a 300E with this motor and I sold the car with 256k miles and at 219k miles I drove from Albuquerque to Las Vegas NV in SIX hours (including a stop for gas) cruising nicely across AZ at 1 hundred 25 mph for hours without a hint of a problem, drove the car for a couple more years after that and miss it most days even though my new car is way awesome. I'd love to have one of these for my golden years.

I wanted to clarify something obviously some of the Pictures show Sportline emblems and some don’t. While I was servicing and sorting out the car a customer brought in a Sportline coupe and we had a conversation and I started researching the differences and the options on his Sportline and information available online and this car has all the options and features as his and that are mentioned online, sport seats / rear sport seats / full wood package / sport suspension/ gray cladding / lower stance / 390mm steering wheel / sunroof / heated seats / close ratio steering box / larger engine / while I can’t say definitively I do believe that this is a Sportline Coupe and I sourced a pair of badges and applied them yesterday

Hi Everyone! Thanks for checking out my auction. This is just a great older 90's mercedes. I wanted to explain the carfax. At the bottom of the report is says it was sold at a salvage auction. This was enterted by mistake. If you look back at top of the carfax report you can see it explains that it was entered by mistake and corrected. Please if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Good luck bidding on this great 90's throw back!!
