Marking the 40th anniversary of the iconic lightweight Glaser-bodied 356 "America Roadster" commissioned by renowned Porsche distributor Max Hoffman, the 964 America Roadster was crafted in a limited production run of 250 units from 1992 to 1993. This distinctive Cabriolet integrates the Turbo model's broad fenders and brakes with the naturally aspirated rear-wheel-drive configuration of the Carrera 2. Equipped with optional supple leather upholstery and a Tiptronic automatic transmission, this 1992 example comes finished in Black over matching upholstery with optional supple leather seats. Showing approximately 28k miles on the odometer, this Roadster is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
The America Roadster is based on a Carrera 2 Cabriolet and features the wide fenders, bumpers, and rockers of the 911 Turbo. This example comes finished in Black and rides on aftermarket 18” Speedline-style wheels measuring 8” wide in front and 10” wide in the rear. The wheels wear Porsche-crested center caps and Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 tires. The seller adds that paint protection film has been applied to some areas. The cabin is appointed in black leather with optional supple leather seats. Equipment includes power-adjustable seats, a parcel shelf with storage compartments in place of the rear seats, power windows and mirrors, a central locking system, cruise control, air conditioning, a locking glove box, and an upgraded Porsche Classic head unit with navigation.
Power comes from an air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine rated at 247 HP and 228 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through an optional 4-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission with a manual shifting mode. Corresponding with the wide Turbo-derived bodywork, the America Roadster also shares the Turbo’s robust cross-drilled disc brakes sized 322mm in front and 299mm in the rear. The seller adds that an engine reseal was carried out at approximately 10k miles and a tune-up has been performed.
The seller would like you to know: “This 1992 America Roadster is 1 of 250 produced. It has only 28,300 original miles. It features the original factory black exterior paint on the original black leather interior. The interior is in like new condition loaded with many factory options with minimal wear on the driver's side seat. A new Porsche factory navigation system has been added for modern comfort. The 3.6L powertrain combined with a Tiptronic transmission has been tuned and serviced. Clear bra has been installed to protect commonly chipped areas. The black soft top and plastic rear window are both in excellent condition. It is fitted with sporty yet comfortably bolstered supple leather seats (driver seat 12-way adjustable) and has a Tiptronic dual-function transmission.”

@993David Hi David that is so true 964 way better I'm just trying to complete my Porsche collection and I do have another 1992 Roadster manual but with 45k miles red/tan and I have one off 993 red/black speedster that I bought on Pcar just trying make them all RED cars that said the triprotic is and amazing shifting car my son loves it and I think people shy away from it but they should go drive one and I think they will be impressed.
@shy interestingly, I sold my 89 speedster and bought a 92 roadster. I much prefer the suspension (and air conditioner) of the 964. The G body front is too bouncy in my opinion. 964 way more planted but understand the aesthetics of the chopped and raked windshield and fiberglass top cap. 864? Speedsters and only 250 roadsters! This is a great platform with big brakes and turbo suspension. Hope it goes to a good home!
I own over 12 Porsches in my collection. The only reason for selling this is to make room for my 89 speedster. The new owner of this vehicle will be very impressed with the condition and maintenance done to this car.

@MC-Leather Hey there, the previous owner did the calipers. The car is completely serviced. Had a 10k engine out service done to it. I do have the original wheels, they are OE 17inch cup wheels in my storage in mint condition.
