This 1992 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Coupe was acquired by the owner about 2.5 years ago and subsequently treated to a custom restoration. The car is finished in Black over a new Cork leather interior and features Speedline-style wheels, RS brake ducts, an RS short shift kit, a factory limited-slip differential, and a custom flat-six engine displacing 3.8 liters with Mahle pistons and cylinders. With approximately 100km driven on the rebuilt engine, this U.S.-spec 964 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.

This 964 was comprehensively disassembled and given a glass-out respray in its factory-specified color of Black using quality Glasurit paint. New moldings, clips, and hardware were installed along with a new Porsche hood crest, RS front brake ducts, and a set of 18” RH 3.6 Speedline-style wheels dressed in new Bridgestone RE71R tires. The exterior was also recently polished and treated with ceramic coating. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin has been completely redone with new Cork leather upholstery and matching carpets. A new black headliner was also installed along with a new shifter boot, an RS short shift kit, Rennline door pulls, a black anodized Rennline footrest, and a MOMO Prototipo Black Edition three-spoke steering wheel. Accessories include power windows and mirrors, a central locking system, an electric sunroof, air conditioning, cruise control, and a Blaupunkt Madison CD127 stereo. All gauges and accessories remain fully functional.

The air-cooled flat-six engine has been rebuilt and enlarged to a 3.8-liter displacement using Mahle pistons and cylinders, Carrillo rods, ARP head studs, a GT3 main bearing set, and a polished crankshaft and camshaft. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed G50 manual transmission with a Bully clutch kit and a factory optional limited-slip differential. @macca18 Still waiting, unfortunately he is not at the shop for another few days. I have called the shop and they are searching for further documentation.

  • autosportclassic (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@rak1161 100 to 200 singular KM. I just want to be clear about that everyone! Not 100-200 thousand kilometres, exactly 100 to 200 kilometres have been driven after the build. This car was recently finished and has not been driven, not even properly broken in yet as it would require a few thousand km's. Hope that clears up the confusion. The car has barely been driven! Thanks

  • JJensen (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

60 to 120 miles since restoration, you consider that a lot ?

  • rak1161 (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

Quick question regarding your statement that 100-200km has been put in since restoration. First, that’s a pretty big range, and second, seems like a lot in two years. Do you have more specific info?

  • macca18 (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

@autosportclassic - were you able to get further build documents from Hunter? Thank you.

  • autosportclassic (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

2 hours left! This is one of the most incredible examples of a built 964 that you can find, bid with confidence! Almost $150k CAD spent on restoration, it does not get better than this. I will be on here for next while, excited for this to go to a good home!

@mitchs911 Hunter Motorsports had it built, we have the photos and invoice/build sheet, but I will try to get further documentation.

  • autosportclassic (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@MSQ Around 290-300 hp and 250-270 lb/ft would be by best estimate.

  • autosportclassic (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@macca18 The oil cooler was not replaced, only the lines.

  • autosportclassic (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

I sincerely apologize everyone for the wait everyone, I am afraid @red911sc83 is correct. I’ve been going back and forth with the owner and our engine builder and there has been a mistake. Our client decided last minute to go with OEM connection rods and new bearings instead of Carillo’s, the invoices and build list do not reflect that as the invoice was not corrected at the time. I have triple checked every single part on the build and I can confirm it is correct. Again, I apologize everyone, we believe in true transparency and unfortunately there was a little mistake.

  • autosportclassic (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@andrewn It was a rust free car prior to the repaint, to our knowledge there has been no other bodywork or body damage in the past. Let me know if there are any other questions I can help with! Thank you

  • andrewn (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

When the car was repainted was there any rust that needed to be addressed? Carfax is clean but any history of body work or body damage in the past?

Very pretty car! Love that you kept it looking very stock! Nice work!

  • autosportclassic (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@sdoherty Because it is an ex-US car, you really don’t have to do too much extra work. Other than paying back the duties, it should be a very simple registration.

I believe the link you previously sent is for cars that are not US cars, for this specific car the process is far easier. It has already has been registered in the US before and conforms with all regulations.

What we can do for the winning bidder is get them in touch with our broker, it is an extremely simple process that they can handle very quickly. Once everything is shipped to your door you can take the paperwork to the DMV and register like any normal car.

Let me know if you have more questions regarding import!

  • sdoherty (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

Sorry - new to this messaging system:
For seller: Can you provide all of the things listed on this CA DMV web page related to importing this car to the US?
    https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/vehicle-registration/new-registration/register-an-imported-vehicle/

  • sdoherty (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

@sdoherty This was meant for seller: "can you provide all of the things listed on that CA DMV web page?"

  • sdoherty (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

@targatarga Yeah - long ugly list here related to "importing" a vehicle to US: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/vehicle-registration/new-registration/register-an-imported-vehicle/
can you provide all of the things listed on that CA DMV web page?

  • targatarga (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

So.... ship to CA and register at DMV like a domestic purchase? If yes, i'm guessing this is easier as it once was a USA car?

The last Canada car I explored had a huge todo list and was expensive to get into the US.

  • autosportclassic (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@sdoherty Around 100-200 km has been put on the car after restoration, all services have been outlined above and in the invoice for the build. Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks!

  • autosportclassic (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@targatarga Hi! California registration should be no problem. The car is an ex-USA car, and will pass emissions with no worries.

  • sdoherty (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

Could you post service records for last 2 years? Carfax you provided shows last service 2021 (before your restoration).
Also - Are you aware of any known obstacles to registering this car in California?
Also - how many miles have been put on it since the restoration?
    Thanks!

  • sdoherty 5 months, 1 weekago

Bid in the amount of $65,000

  • targatarga (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

I’m sure this questions and answer before on previous post, but what is the process to get the car registered in California?

  • autosportclassic (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@macca18 Hi, a custom chip or injectors is not required, however, you could install them if you would like to get more out of this motor. We can help the winning bidder source them if they so wish. Thanks!

  • macca18 (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

Hello. Was a software/chip update required to support the change to 3.8? Any change to injectors required? Thank you.
