We are pleased to offer this exceptional 1992 Porsche 964 Carrera RS Lightweight for auction.  Having been painstakingly maintained from new, this number’s matching 3-owner example remains in outstanding condition with approximately 34k original miles showing on the odometer.  Representing one out of a total 1,910 units produced for the entire world, this RS is the perfect choice for a dedicated air-cooled enthusiast.  

This 964’s iconic Guards Red finish is stated to be in phenomenal condition.  The seller indicates that this RS has never been tracked or subjected to inclement driving conditions and appears to have been kept in a climate controlled environment its entire life.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery as well as paint meter readings.  With lightweight performance being the name of the game, this RS features an aluminum front hood, a seam welded chassis and thinner glass in the doors and rear windshield.  This RS retains its original lightweight magnesium wheels which are said to be in perfect shape.  An impeccably well-preserved example, the seller notes that the original Cosmolene protective gel can still be found intact throughout the undercarriage.

This RS is outfitted with a performance-oriented interior featuring Sport Bucket Seats upholstered in black and grey leather.  The interior is stated by the seller to be in pristine original condition with all gauges and accessories fully functional.  Special weight-saving features include lightweight door cards with red RS pulls, a rear seat delete, manual window lifts, and lightweight carpeting.  Amenities such as air conditioning, power seats, cruise control, radio and noise deadening were omitted from the RS in the pursuit of weight reduction.

This Carrera RS is equipped with a revised version of the standard 3.6L flat-six engine internally designated as M64/03.  Utilizing precisely matched pistons and cylinders as well as sequential fuel injection and Bosch electronic engine management, the M64/03 is capable of producing a claimed 260 HP and 275 lb-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a smooth G50/10 5-speed manual transmission with steel synchronizer rings as well as altered shift sleeves with taller 1st & 2nd gears.  Other factory drivetrain enhancements include a single-mass sport flywheel and an asymmetrical limited-slip differential.  Suspension upgrades consist of adjustable anti-roll bars, alloy transverse control arms, coilover shocks with stiffer struts and a 1.5” lowered ride height.

Modifications include a 100-cell catalytic converter and a Cup Car cross pipe for enhanced exhaust flow and sound.  Reported to be up-to-date on all due service, this 964 is being offered in excellent driving condition.

Following in the footsteps of legends like the 2.7 RS and 3.0 RSR, the 964 RS debuted in 1992 and was offered exclusively in the European market.  At the time Porsche did not consider it worth their while to import the car to the U.S. on account of its aggressive tuning and stiffened ride.  In turn, the RS has become one of the rarest and most collectible 911’s on American soil.
