Now available for auction is this 1992 Porsche 964 America Roadster finished in Black over Cashmere Beige. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the special lightweight Glaser-bodied 356 “America Roadster” developed for legendary Porsche distributor Max Hoffman, the 964 America Roadster was built in a limited series of 250 examples between 1992 and 1993.  This unique Cabriolet features the wide fenders, brakes, and Cup Design wheels of the Turbo model paired with the naturally aspirated rear-wheel-drive platform of the Carrera 2.  Featuring optional supple leather upholstery and an automatic transmission, this 1992 example is accompanied by an extensive collection of records including a stamped service book and an invoice for a complete reseal of the engine carried out by an authorized Porsche dealer.  Showing just under 70k miles on the odometer, this America Roadster is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Southern California.

This 964 comes finished in nonmetallic Black (A1). The America Roadster incorporates the retractable soft top and standard rear decklid of the Carrera 2 Cabriolet with the wide bodywork of the Turbo model, providing for an aggressive yet understated look.  This model is further distinguished by a unique “Roadster” designation on the rear end.  The car is said to have been previously refinished in its original color to address some minor cosmetic imperfections, additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This Roadster rides on factory Turbo-spec 17” Cup Design wheels dressed in a set of Bridgestone Potenza tires.

Inside, this Roadster features a Cashmere Beige and Black leather interior with optional full power seats upholstered in supple leather with deviated piping and Porsche crested headrests. The rear seats were omitted from the America Roadster in favor of a luggage compartment.  Other features include cruise control, air conditioning, power windows, a vintage Blaupunkt radio, and an aftermarket center console storage bin. The seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.6L flat-six engine rated at 247 HP and 228 lb.-ft of torque.  Power is sent to the rear wheels through an optional 4-speed automatic transmission.  Corresponding with the wide Turbo-derived bodywork, the America Roadster also shares the Turbo’s robust cross-drilled disc brakes sized 322mm in front and 299mm in the rear.  A binder of service records accompanied the sale along with a stamped dealer maintenance book.  The seller notes that the engine had been previously resealed by an authorized Porsche dealer and that there are no outstanding maintenance items at this time.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals, service booklet, air compressor, spare tire, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title. Now is your chance to own one of the rarest and most exclusive models of the air-cooled era, do not miss out.
