Available now for auction is this 1993 Acura NSX, one of the reported 251 5-speed 1993 examples delivered to the U.S. in Red over black leather.  Designed and hand constructed at the Honda Global Research and Development Center in Tochigi Japan, this is a two-owner, unmodified, and well-documented example of one of the most celebrated analog sports cars of the 1990s.  It comes accompanied by an extensive collection of documentation dating back to the original purchase as well as its original window sticker framed under glass.  With a timing belt service performed in the last 2k miles and all other routine service addressed, this outstanding Acura NSX is now being offered for auction with approximately 40k miles shown on the odometer by its seller out of Virginia.

Outside, the Red paint is described by the seller as being in very good condition with only slight touchups and imperfections.  Honda reportedly used an aircraft-grade chromate coating to protect the aluminum bodywork before a 23-step paint process was carried out for a vivid and smooth appearance.  Following an accident reported on CARFAX in 1996, this NSX received minor cosmetic repairs by Ed Voyles Acura to restore the car to like-new original standards, as can be verified by the recent TrueFrame report and Certificate of Integrity provided in the photo gallery.  This example rides on factory 15"/16" 5-spoke forged aluminum wheels dressed in Bridgestone Potenza RE760 tires. Only one of the wheels is reported to have a scratch which the seller has offered to fix at no additional cost to the buyer.

Inside, the black leather interior is reported to be very clean and with only minor wear noted on the driver's seat. Factory features include an Acura-Bose 4-speaker sound system, 4-way power seats, rear and side window defoggers, power door mirrors, courtesy lights, and a theft-deterrent system.  With the exception of an OEM Zanadri titanium shift knob, the interior is reported to be entirely original and with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional including the factory-installed radio.

Power comes from a transverse-mounted 3.0L 24-valve V6 engine with VTEC variable valve timing, that produces as much as 270 HP and 210 lb.-ft of torque.  Power is sent through a 5-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels allowing for a 0-60 time of approximately 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 169 miles per hour, according to Acura.  A timing belt service was completed in 2013 at 38k miles and this example is said to have been evaluated by the prominent NSX specialists at Daisy Auto Care and found to be in excellent mechanical order.

Included in the sale are 1 original key, complete service records, the original framed window sticker, and a clean title. For enthusiasts in search of an unmodified Acura NSX, this is a fine opportunity to own a properly cared for and well-represented example.

It will be interesting to see what this goes for- seems like the current market is in the $70k-100k range for a similar car. Data from other auction sites shows a rapid increase in value for these cars and high demand. Would this be a better / safer investment than the stock market? That you get to drive and enjoy?

I'm the second owner of this car and am close to original owner. It was well taken care of. Original Owner bought it local in Atlanta at Acura Dealership. He drove it for the first few years he had it, then switched to a company car. Well taken care of and excellent example of a original NSX.

Appreciate all the good questions here. This is truly a wonderful car, and you don't have to take my word for it.

Because of its history, we took it to the Mid-Atlantic NSX Specialist - Daisy Import Auto Care - for a full pre-purchase inspection, after which we replaced the clutch master and slave, oil pan, and a few other items. (Receipt should post in the Gallery soon.) The car checked out great, and I would encourage reaching out to them if you have real interest in the car.

The car also won Sweetest Import at the 2020 Craftsman Auto Care Cars and Coffee in Alexandria. You can see it in the gallery here: https://www.craftsmanautocare.com/carsandcoffee

Last, you can also take us at our word - we worked hard to become accredited by the Better Business Bureau. We apparently aren't able to share the link with you per PCAR contact policy, but they can surely verify this for you on our behalf.

Please feel free to reach out by comment or DM with anything else!

This car looks amazing! I actually saw it in person at an event in Virginia and the car is immaculate. Looks like it has never seen rain or sun! It's out of budget for me right now but these seem to be great investments- there is another auction site or two with these going for $75k and up. This market seems to be exploding.

@rhmoritz My apologies, 1998. Yes, I just sent the request to PCARMARKET. Hopefully they will be uploaded soon.

  • rhmoritz (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

Could you post a copy of the Ed Voyles Acura repair estimate/invoice? Carfax indicates accident reported in 1998.
    Thanks

  • TheStartingLine (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

Please learn more about the original NSX and this particular example in our video overview here https://youtu.be/o5CHQKB8ElA

At 4:12 you can learn more about its 1996 accident and how TrueFrame was able to correct the CarFax report to reflect "minor cosmetic repairs".

  • TheStartingLine (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@rhmoritz Hello, @rhmoritz - yes, the repair records are in the complete maintenance binder, part of a total of 65 pages of service records since the car was sold new. We were not able to track down the original owner or photos of the accident from 1996.

That said, we had TrueFrame inspect the car on January 4, 2021, and they corrected the statement on the CarFax. At the bottom of the CarFax, they now report- "Vehicle inspected for prior damage - Minor damage reported, - Cosmetic repairs found to: left side, right side, front-end, rear-end"

Full TrueFrame report can be seen here along with photos, cosmetic score, structural validation, and TrueFrame's Certificate of Integrity: https://admin.trueframe.com/view-report/en/ZFWkFdcf9ZhS1Ku43hz6

  • rhmoritz (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

CARFAX indicates "severe" front end damage. Do you have repair estimates or photos to document damage/repair cost?

I owned a new 1991 NSX in the same color combo.
One of the best cars I ever owned and I've owned many exotic cars.
