The Ford Probe was originally designed as a collaborative effort between Ford and Mazda to replace the Ford Mustang, but was instead set to compete with the Toyota Celica and Honda Prelude. This second-generation Ford Probe GT is finished in Vibrant White over an Opal Gray cloth interior and was purchased new at Matthews Ford of Asheville, North Carolina in April of 1993. It remained with the first owner until January 2022 and was acquired by the seller about a month later. It was originally optioned with the Preferred Equipment Package 261A, which includes power mirrors, air conditioning, a rear window defroster, a tilting steering column, and a premium AM/FM radio, in addition to color-keyed floor mats, a rear wiper, cruise control, anti-lock brakes, and body-side molding. Now showing just over 26k miles on the odometer, this 5-speed manual 1993 Ford Probe GT is being offered at auction by its seller out of North Carolina.
This Probe GT comes finished in Vibrant White (WT) and features a model-specific front fascia, pop-up headlights, fog lights, redesigned rear glass with integrated C-pillars, and optional bodyside molding ground effects, “GT” rocker graphics, and dual exhaust tips. An aftermarket sunroof was professionally installed in 1994. The original 16” cast-aluminum wheels are wrapped in General GMAX A5-03 tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior is upholstered in Opal Gray cloth, featuring manually-adjustable front bucket seats with patterned inserts. Amenities include power-adjustable lumbar and bolsters for the driver, a split-fold rear seat, a 4-speaker audio system, power mirrors, manually-adjustable air conditioning, a rear defroster, a tilting steering column, as well as color-keyed floor mats, a rear windshield wiper and washer, cruise control, and dual illuminated visor mirrors. A Pioneer DEH-45 radio was installed in 1995 in place of the original AM/FM cassette stereo.
The Probe GT is equipped with a 2.5L Mazda KL-DE 24-valve V6, which was factory rated at 164 HP, sent to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Performance features of the GT include a thicker front anti-roll bar, stiffer springs, four-wheel disc brakes, and power rack-and-pinion steering. An original maintenance manual will accompany the sale showing dealership service until 1997, and the seller reports all fluids were replaced in preparation for auction.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, original window sticker, some service documentation, and original sales literature.

Where did all of these go? Did they sell only a few? Did they rust out or self-destruct? This was an impressive leap forward in design styling for me growing up in a k-car era.
@spdracer35 - The gallery has ALL the records we received with the car when it was purchased from the previous owner. The car was stored inside a climate-controlled facility until its owner purchased it. There are no concerns of oil leaks, rubber belts or hoses as the underside pictures show in the gallery. The sunroof did not leak when we washed it to prep for the auction. There are no concerns or reasons the car couldn't be driven a long distance if the auction meets our reserve.
@NOCllc - we believe the paint is original to the car with no signs of paint work. Yes, the a/c does work and blow cold air.
Is the paint all original? Or has it had paintwork? And does the A/C blow cold?

@ParamountAutomotive , is there any history on car between the records from the late 1990s to when it was purchased in 2022? Was the car sitting that whole time? As a result, any concerns with oil leaks, or condition of rubber belts or hoses? Does the sunroof leak? Any reasons why the car couldn't be driven long distances if purchased?
@Rich991.1 @Rich991.1- Fluids changed were Oil and Coolant. The transmission fluid and brake fluid were not changed. The sunroof does not have a shade. The car drives very well for its age and mileage. If you watch the videos, you can see there is no issues with it.

Hello, I just have a few questions: you mention all fluids were changed for the prep of the sale does that include trans fluid, brake fluid and coolant? Does the sunroof have a sun shade (hard to tell in pictures)? Most importantly can you describe how it runs and drives: engine, clutch, shifting, steering, and brakes? Thanks and beautiful car.
@naked_dave @naked_dave- No issues that we can see at this time with the spark plug tubes / holes.
Any oil in the spark plug tubes / holes? Valve covers on these were always and issue and the rear of course requires the manifold to come off; really clean example visually!

A phenomenal car - bought a silver one new and it was a DD for 12 years and 230k miles - Mazda engine is a jewel. Mine had no sunroof, so this one has an added bonus. Perforated trim and steering wheel all enhance the sport feeling.

Hello, I have a question to the auction, it says the auction fee is $500 to $5000, that means whatever the car sells for, we would have to pay that to who? PCARMARKET? How and when do we know the price of the fee?
