The R129-generation Mercedes-Benz SL was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1989 as a successor to the R107 with modernized bodywork, increased safety, and increased engine performance. Finished in Black over an Anthracite leather interior, this V8-powered 1993 500SL is now being offered for auction by its seller out of South Carolina with approximately 98k miles on the odometer.

The 1993 500 SL features a manually detachable hardtop, an automatic convertible soft top, fog lights, fender air vents, and body color mirror caps. This example is finished in Black and rides on a set of staggered-width 5-spoke 18” AMG monoblock wheels dressed in Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires. Aftermarket emblems have been mounted to the front fenders and rear trunk lid, and the headlight washers seem to have been removed. The seller states that newer wiring harnesses were installed, and the hardtop and soft top were rewired in November of 2022. The CARFAX report shows minor to moderate damage to the front end in 2005. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The interior is upholstered with Anthracite (271A) leather. The instrument cluster showcases black-faced dials highlighted by orange needles and chrome trim. Amenities include heated and power-adjustable front seats with memory, a deployable roll bar, automatic climate control, a heated rear hardtop window, and cruise control. Modifications include an aftermarket head unit and a carbon-fiber-style center console. The seller notes that the top glove box does not open and may require a new key lock, and the blinker warning light appears intermittently.

The 5.0-liter 32-valve M119 DOHC V8 engine sends up to 315 HP and 347 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission and a multi-link suspension. The CARFAX report shows available maintenance history dating back to August 2004. The seller reports that the neutral safety switch occasionally fails, a common issue with this model, and is easily overcome by switching between gears before starting the vehicle.

This sale will include a clean title.

    @URS6 The AMG wheels

  • URS6 (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

    Does it come with the AMG wheels in the photos or the older wheels in the video?

    Hey @mitchs911 I do not have an invoice near the 2005 incident, but I have a Maaco repair for the front bumper to refinish some cracking. I doubt this is related, but this is all I have close. The remaining records are mostly maintenance (new tires, balancing, alignment) and small changes like steering lock.

    @mitchs911 I'll try to see if I can find it in one of the old invoices. I didn't know when I snapped a bunch but I may have missed it.
