We are pleased to present this collector-grade 1993 Mercedes-Benz R129 600SL finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic over black leather.  Introduced as the top-range variant of the Mercedes SL roadster, this 600SL features self-leveling suspension with active dampers as well as a powerful 6.0 L V12 engine.  This 1993 example is said to have spent time in a prominent Central California collection before its recent purchase by the seller in early 2020.  It has since been treated to a major service including fluid and filter changes, a transmission and differential service, new tires, and A/C maintenance within the last 1,500 miles.  It is now being offered in exceptional original condition by its seller in California with only 14k miles shown on the odometer.

The factory specified Brilliant Silver Metallic (744) finish is said to be in pristine all-original condition (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  The factory painted hardtop is included and the original 8-hole light-alloy wheels are retained and have been dressed in new Michelin Pilot tires within the last 1,500 miles.

Inside, this SL features a luxurious black leather (271A) interior that is stated to be in brilliant condition with only minor shrinkage of the headliner.  An aftermarket radio has been installed and the cabin is said to be otherwise original with its factory optioned draft deflector included.  All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional and a major air conditioning service was recently carried out including a new condenser and receiver dryer.

This SL is equipped with a robust 6.0 L quad-cam V12 engine capable of sending 389 HP and 421 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission.  Factory performance features include self-leveling suspension with the Adaptive Damping System (ADS) and Acceleration Skid Control (ASR). Routine service has been kept up to date including the replacements of both fuel pumps, the self-leveling suspension valve, and the resealing of the oil level sender and oil cooler lines under previous ownership at 13,563 miles.  More recently under the current ownership, a major service was carried out which included the following items within the last 1,500 miles:

  • Coolant System Service
  • Brake Fluid Flush
  • Transmission Service
  • Differential Service
  • New SRS Module
  • New Battery
  • New Rear Suspension Accumulators

This sale will be accompanied by 1 remote key and 2 conventional master keys, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, an unused spare tire, some service records, the factory hardtop, wind deflector, and a clean California title.  For any discerning European car collector, this beautifully preserved 600SL offers an excellent investment opportunity.

Just an FYI for anyone looking at this era of "harness car" we have been re producing these NLA various harnesses for V8's and 12's in various chassis. Harnesses are not inexpensive but the modules and other items that are at risk then said harensses fail is another level yet again.

FWIW, our harnesses are all built to meet FIA speiciations for heat/fire resistance. Far superior to what they came with from the factory.

Do keep in mind that in addition to the upper harness as mentioned by the seller you also have the lower harness, MAF Harnesses and harnesses that feed the electronic throttle actuators. They all have a 100% failure rate.

Beautiful example of an M120 equipped R129, absoloutly worthy of being future proofed to ensure years of Proper motoring!
    GLWTA...!

@JNasty Thanks for the note. The upper engine harness appears to be original. The plan early last year when we were preparing the car was to replace it. However, according to the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Irvine it was - and still is - no longer available. The car runs and behaves correctly with no warning lamps illuminated.

Hard and soft top release/secure/retraction operation is all correct.

@seller, any replacement of wiring harnesses (these are the bio-degradable years) and the top hydraulics? These are the two known $$$ items for these cars.
