A 964 Carrera RS variant produced specifically for the United States market, the RS America was built between 1993 and 1994 featuring a lightweight design, unassisted steering, 17” Cup wheels, a distinctive whale tail spoiler, and an upgraded M030 sport suspension. This 1993 example is one of 701 produced in total and comes finished in Guards Red along with factory-optional air conditioning and a limited-slip differential. It is said to have been cared for by only two owners and had been part of the last owner’s collection for the past 17 years. Accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity showing a numbers matching engine and transmission, this highly collectible RS America is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida while showing just over 35,500 miles on the odometer.

The RS America came from the factory without a sunroof and features black “RS” designations on the rear quarters as well as a whale tail rear spoiler and 17” Cup wheels measuring 7” wide in front and 8” wide in the rear. This example is finished in Guards Red and the paint is described to be in excellent original condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the RS America’s interior features special weight-saving measures including the deletion of rear seats and sound-deadening material, lightweight door panels with cloth pull straps, thinner lightweight carpeting, and Sport Seats trimmed in black leatherette and cloth upholstery. This example comes with an optional air conditioning system and includes power windows and electrically adjustable seats as standard equipment. A modern Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) stereo system has been installed and the seller reports all gauges and accessories are fully functional.

An air-cooled 3.6L flat-six engine sends 247 HP and 228 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a G50 5-speed manual transmission and an optional rear limited-slip differential. The RS America comes factory equipped with M030 Sports Suspension which equips progressive springs and stiffer shocks from the 911 Turbo as well as a thicker front anti-roll bar. Stopping power is derived from aluminum Brembo brake calipers and vented rotors at each corner. The seller notes that service records are included with the sale and there are no outstanding maintenance items at this time.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, some documentation, and a clean title.

  • 911guy 6 monthsago

I apologize if I missed it, but where is the car located? Thank you.

  • Rennline 6 monthsago

Rear emblem “RS America” came installed from the factory. Side emblems also came from the factory with ever car except they were in a bag and installed by the dealer, or not.

The side "RS" decals and the the rear deck "RS America" badge came with all RSAs, but were not applied from the factory. They were left to the dealer to install . . . or not. That's why you see some cars without, and some with improper placement. You definitely wouldn't see just the "RS" on the decklid, and the side decals on this car are indeed too high. That part is an easy fix, as you can readily source replacement side decals and there is a factory guideline for proper placement. The rear deck emblems are NLA, so sourcing one of those will be very difficult, but not impossible as some folks on Rennlist are now working on 3-D printing those. So these things alone don't indicate a respray. As suggested, options sticker under front bonnet might indicate paintwork, but might not. Need to see paint meter reading.

  • HelpMeHelpU (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

Of all the RSAs I have seen over the past seven years when they've been on my radar, this is the only one I remember with only the two key options: AC and LSD. So, with these miles and inflation and all, it's still probably worth MSRP, so there's the bid. :-)

@SLPro *underhood. Spell correct is annoying.

  • Bored (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

@SLPro I noticed the underwood sticker is missing, usually a sign of replacement hood and/or repair/paint. Def need some paint meter readings.

  • Bored (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

@Cherche-pepite I also own a 993 WLS2. Two very very different cars, the 993 is a rocket ship when the turbo kicks in but the RSA has a such a smooth power delivery in comparison. RSA has a lot less power but is a lot more fun.
paint meter reading would be useful for buyers.

  • Cherche-pepite (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

@Harley261 I agree! And wonder if those two factors don't suggest that the car has been repainted?

  • Harley261 (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

The RS logo on the sides also seems to be a bit High. Should be placed lower towards the rocker. And yes RS America on the back.

  • Cherche-pepite (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

@SLPro It looks to me like someone has removed the RS America logo and replaced it with the simpler RS, perhaps to make people (who know) think it's the Euro version of the RS. I own one of these cars in the same Guards Red color and it sports the RS America logo on the rear lid. Would send a photo if I could but don't seem to be able to do so with the configuration.

  • Cherche-pepite (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

I can imagine that roarin' down PCH in this car would be a blast!

And your choice of the word "visceral" is spot on, especially when compared to the more "refined" 993.

I own both the 1993 RSA and a 1998 Turbo WLS2. While not as quick or as fast, the former is far more "brutal" than the latter, no doubt.

  • SLPro (seller) 6 monthsago

@Cherche-pepite Hi we assume that the insignia in the Back is the original one, there is no evidence of any accidents and the Carfax is clean, the paint looks original this car has been owned by collectors, always garage kept. Thanks

  • Bored (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

I own several 964's and 993's, my RSA has to be my favorite. I just did a 450 mile drive from LA to SF along Highway 1, I've done it multiple times in different cars but it was a very visceral experience in the RSA. It's not quite the Euro RS but it's pretty close. Great car and def the 964 to own especially a low mileage one. GLWA!

  • Cherche-pepite (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

Isn't the insignia on the rear deck lid supposed to read RS America?

Has the car been repainted totally or partially? No accidents?

    Thanks.
