Up for auction is this custom built 1978 Porsche 993 GT2-style racecar.  Built upon the chassis of a 1978 930, this race car is believed to have been raced professionally during the 1990s before disappearing into storage some time and being rediscovered by its current owner in recent years.  It has since been restored to race-ready condition and fitted with JRZ suspension, Brembo big brakes, a full racing interior, and a newly built twin-plug 3.0 L twin-turbocharged engine claimed to make over 600HP.  Designed to meet the PCA's GT2 class requirements, this 911 is now being offered by its seller in Texas with just under 40 hours driven since the last engine rebuild.

The 930 platform has been dressed in 993 GT2-style body panels painted white with removable vinyl graphics.  Noteworthy features include a GT2 EVO rear spoiler, front bonnet pins, Lexan rear and side windows, quick release front fenders, window braces, and Youngblood 3-piece racing wheels.  An additional set of Youngblood wheels is also included in the sale along with an extra front bumper.

The cabin has been completely stripped out and fitted with racing equipment including a full roll cage with integrated front and rear bumpers, a fire suppression system, and Recaro seats with harnesses. Other features include an AIM Smartycam, Coolsuit system, crew radio, and an AIM MXL Dash and Datalogger with additional sensors for steering angle, ride height, brake pressure, brake bias and more.  All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

Under the current ownership in 2015, this 911 was fitted with a newly built Porsche 930-derived 3.0 L twin-plug flat-six engine with twin Garrett turbochargers and a fully programmable MoTeC electronic ignition.  A dyno-tested output of 617 HP is delivered to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed G50 manual transmission with upgraded internals and an auxiliary cooling system.  Other features include a Carrera intake manifold, MSD ignition boxes, fresh air intakes, an external oil filler, a 100L fuel cell with dry connect, a redundant fuel pump system, front Brembo big brakes, and a JRZ adjustable suspension setup with multiple spring sets included.  111 hours are currently logged on the engine with a full rebuild carried out previously at 74 hours by Rothsport racing along with some other modifications.  Routine oil changes are said to have been performed after each outing and this GT2 race car is said to be in excellent running order.

This sale will include a PCA logbook, some assorted spare parts, an engine rebuild invoice, extra wheels, a spare front bumper and a Bill of Sale.  A truly visceral race car designed for ultimate track-going performance, this custom GT2-style build offers a very unique opportunity.

    Hello everyone,
I’m selling my dream air cooled 911 race car. We came upon it as an RSR roller without engine and transmission and designed it to be optimally competitive in the GT2 class of the PCA Club Racing group. That is why this is a 3.0L as opposed to a 3.6L engine for example. It is the TWS GT2 class track record holder. In other words – this thing is FAST, and FUN. It has 111 hours since we built it. At 74 hours we decided to let Rothsport modify it to achieve the power level we had expected, which we did. Invoices for this work is available upon request.
Please feel free to ask questions. I’m not a mechanic or a Porsche specialist, just the driver, but I’ll try to answer the best I can.
    Thanks. Claus
