It was purchased new in Grand Rapids and has remained in the state of Michigan while owned by the same family since 1996. Showing approximately 78k miles on the odometer, this 968 Cabriolet is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Michigan.

This 968 is one of 432 North American Cabriolet versions to have come finished in Black (L741) during the entire production run and features a black convertible soft top with a matching boot cover. Equipment includes flip-up headlights, integrated fog lights, dual power mirrors, body-colored door handles, black brake calipers with white Porsche lettering, and 16” 5-spoke alloy wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The seller notes the convertible soft top has been replaced and the exterior remains in very good original condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Cashmere Beige and Black partial leather (LC) interior features electrically adjustable front seats, a rear seat delete, and a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel. Other accessories include power windows, climate control, an analog quartz clock, a digital temperature display, a locking glovebox, rear storage cubbies, a center console storage compartment, an aftermarket Alpine stereo, and custom black carpet floor mats with embroidered red “PORSCHE” logos. All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly.

Porsche's first engine to use VarioCam variable valve timing technology, the 968 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline-four 16-valve engine rated at 236 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transaxle and stopping power comes from Brembo-sourced fixed 4-piston brakes and ventilated discs at each corner. The car also features aluminum front A-arms and semi-trailing arms, a Macpherson strut setup, anti-lock brakes (ABS), and anti-roll bars at the front and rear. The seller notes the last service was completed in September 2022 which included an oil and filter change.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know:  "Thank you for viewing this beautiful 968 Cab. We love the color combo and long-standing ownership history with this example. Here's your chance to own a 90's Porsche that won't break the bank!"

@PaulLittell @FORMULAONE good news! I was able to connect with the previous owner who has a stack of service records. No idea why he didn't leave them with the car... smh. He confirmed the timing belt and tensioners were completed last year. He has other records as well dating back to when his dad owned it. I should have some photos of the receipts to share in the next hour or so.

@JakeH he confirmed the clutch was done in 2012. We can hold the car here for you for a couple weeks. Our transporter is based out of Chicago so he could also deliver it.

I think the 45k and 60k maintenance or any records at all would be important but I'm wanting to also know if the clutch has been replaced at all.
Also due to weather conditions how long could you hold the car after end of auction?
    Thanks,
    Jake

Any idea/s about TIMING BELT itself as well as the TIMING BELT TENSIONER being replaced?
Please DO advise at your earliest convenient...
    Many Thanks in advance,

  • PaulLittell (registered bidder) 3 months, 2 weeksago

@garagekept Thanks very much for the response. Unfortunately that's about $2K for tho top and $2k+ for the belts and rollers.

  • garagekept (seller) 3 months, 2 weeksago

@PaulLittell the power top did function for us when we photographed the car but it is currently inoperable; however, you can put it up and down manually. We do not have any records. Only what's on the CarFax report.
