We are pleased to present this 1993 Porsche 968 Cabriolet 6-speed. Reported to be one of only 14 examples to have been finished in Oak Green Metallic for the North American market, this 6-speed Cabriolet is said to have been under the care of 2 private owners for most of its life before the seller purchased it earlier in 2020. This 968 is said to have been kept in excellent original condition with some noteworthy service carried out very recently including the replacements of the timing belt and water pump. With approximately 90k miles currently displayed on the odometer, this 968 is now being offered by its 3rd owner out of Ohio, accompanied by the original books, tools, and window sticker as well as a clean title.
The rare Oak Green Metallic finish is reported by the seller to be original and in very nice overall condition. Some minor stone chips are depicted on the driver’s side front fender as well as a small outward indentation on the front hood, which the seller confirms will be professionally addressed prior to the next owner’s purchase. The black cabriolet top is said to be in nearly perfect condition and the factory optioned 17” Cup wheels are also shown to be in great shape while currently dressed in Continental tires. A tonneau cover will also accompany the sale along with its storage bag.
Inside, the Cashmere Beige and black interior is noted to be in exceptional condition save for a few small cracks on the dashboard that are hidden behind the instrument cluster. The power front seats are reported to have been re-covered with new upholstery under previous ownership and an Alpine radio has been installed along with a trunk-mounted CD changer. The seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
The naturally aspirated 3.0 L inline 4-cylinder DOHC engine features VarioCam variable valve timing and an output of 236 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a desirable 6-speed manual transaxle allowing for a 0-60 time of approximately 6 seconds. Some early service records from the previous owners show dealer maintenance, and the current owner recently carried out a major service including a new water pump, timing belt, belt tensioner, knock sensor, and ABS sensor within the last 600 miles. An invoice is included for the recent work and this Cabriolet is said to be in fantastic driving condition.
This sale will include 1 master key and 1 key blank, the original books, tools, and window sticker, a tonneau cover and storage bag, a spare tire, service records, and a clean title.

@PheasantRun hi. I did some research and found out that there is a way to actually measure the remaining clutch life through an inspection hole on the bell lhouse. I put the car on my home lift and took this picture. It's hard to get an exact measurement but it's right around the 27 mm mark. According to a popular 944/ 1968 website called Clark'sGarage, clutch life is good from 18mm to about 34 mm. I hope this helps. I do not have any documentation that the clutch had been replaced at any point previously but certainly could have been. Pictures will be uploaded momentarily. Here is the link to the Clark's Garage article.

Please talk to us regarding the clutch. Original or has it been replaced?
@MacadooMotors Hi. I just uploaded a bunch of pictures of this area in question. The floor mats are original to the car and are in good condition. There is a little bit of edging that's frayed along where the floor mat comes in contact with the seat track. It's really not that noticeable. But it's there. The handbrake is in great condition with minimal wear on the leather. I hope the pictures will help. Thanks for asking.
The interior looks good. Was wondering about the E brake handle and carpet/ mats. Pictures 28 and 74 show this area as a little rough. Can this be cleaned up?
I've uploaded some more pictures of the front spoiler / bumper. A bidder has requested to see the condition. With the exception of two little cracks on the driver side corner, it is in great condition. No scrapes from parking barriers or anything like that. Also forgot to mention that I have a spare key and a functioning Porsche tire inflator.

@winegeek968 Well then it seems that Porsche must have corrected the 944 Cabriolet convertible top issue when they redesigned the platform into the 968. That is very good news. I was just trying to pass along a helpful hint. This particular example is a beauty and seems to be coming from a good home.

@Jpreusser yes, air blows cold. I'll take some more pictures of the seats tomorrow.
@TheDragasAutoGallery thank you. It is a beautiful car. It turns head like you won't believe.
Very handsome car, good luck with the sale!

@Sechserreihe yes, they do look good as they are almost exact copies, i just wanted to point out that they are not original. However car is looking good but for the original purists there is a little bit of work left to do
Easily one of Porsches greatest colors ever! It looks tremendous on this car. And I heard Seller say, “all original paint in the video” which is very cool as well. Great car. Good luck with auction.
@Dare Very interesting. The wheels look great in my opinion, and give the car a nice wide stance. Looks great especially when viewed from the rear 3/4 angle.
@liedoctor @liedoctor....thank you. Interesting bit of info. The top works flawlessly on my car.
Beautiful color and car! Even though it has been delivered with 17 inch wheels from the factoy, the wheels that are fitted are not the original Porsche 17s. If so they would have width and offset (like 8 and 52) written next to the valve stems, so these must be non Porsche Cup1 copies.
The seat covers look aftermarket and need some work to make them look original GLWTS
@Sechserreihe You will find that the electric top mechanism has been disconnected in more than 90% of these cars (very easy to do). It is MUCH faster to raise and lower the top manually. I am talking seconds instead of a minute and a half in some cases. Also, the 944 cabriolet had issues with the left and right side linkages going out of sequence and hopelessly twisting the top cage out of shape, thereby destroying the top. This might have been fixed by the time the 968 came along. Not sure, just passing along some info. Like I said, you have a very nice 968 there.
Bid in the amount of $7,600
@MacadooMotors it's the electric motor mechanism that raises and lowers the top.
What is the loud sound when you lowered and raised the top?

@Sechserreihe - thank you for the video and photos. Nice car you have!
stunning. absolutely stunning 968.
@peterb hi Peter. No problem at all. I'll take some pictures today.
Hello - would you please post photos with the top down, if available?
Thanks
Peter
@DATGTS @DATGTS. no problem at all. I would be happy to present you the car and let you take it out for a test drive. PPI inspection as well if you like. The only reason I'm listing of the car for sale is because I've been offered a Porsche 964 that I've been after for a while. I have another Porsche as well and I can't see myself owning three. It was a toss-up between my 944 Turbo and this 968 Cabriolet.
Thought that might be the paint reflecting differently. Its pretty even so that would make sense. Can I ask why you are selling so quick? I am in Powell and may run in town to take a look at it if possible.
@DATGTS @DATGTS. Hi there. Yes I've owned the car for a couple of months now. I do not believe anything on the car has been painted. I'm sure it's just lighting or the angle of that rear piece that you're seeing. I can take some pictures from different angles tomorrow. The seats look like they've been reupholstered but they are in great condition and aren't baggy at all. The leather is buttery soft and perforated. I'll take some more pictures of those as well.
Have you only owned this car for a couple of months? Is the interior original? It looks to me recovered as the seats look “baggy” and does not have the original fit? The green on the upper plastic area of the rear fenders appears to be a lighter shade compared to the lower rear fender. Has that been painted?
Beautiful colour and presentation,
never even considered one of these until now!!

I used to own the 944 S2 Cabriolet (forerunner to this car) and all I can say is that this platform is a BLAST to drive. They rev forever, and the front engine design brings nearly perfect 50/50 weight distribution. I firmly believe these Porsches out handle even the 911 (I know, "apples and oranges"). In any case, whoever buys this car is in for a treat...
Hello everyone and welcome to my Porsche 968 Cabriolet auction. I've decided to part with this 968 only to welcome another Porsche into the fold. A friend of mine is ready to sell me their 964 Carrera 4. I own another Porsche transaxle car, a 944 turbo and thus would like to find a new home for my 968 Cab.
I just love the color combo of my 968. Along with the Cup wheels and the crisp, black canvas top, it really looks sharp. It also runs real strong through all 6 gears and the 3 liter mill sounds great. It has just been serviced not too long ago and is ready for a new owner. Please ask questions, request photo uploads. I will take and post up some videos in the days to come. The weather here in Ohio isn't the best right now but we're getting a thaw in the next couple of days.
