We are pleased to offer this collector-grade 1993 Porsche RS America finished in Guards Red over a black interior.  Under the supervision of racing legend Vic Elford, Porsche set out to create a track oriented, lightweight performance car based on the 964 Carrera 2, which would be called “RS America”.  Showing just 2,486 miles on the odometer and personally signed by Vic Elford, this highly collectible 1993 example is being offered for auction in exceptional concours-level condition by its seller in New York.

The traditional Guard’s Red paint is said to remain in like new condition (detailed images and paint meter readings have been provided in the photo gallery). A distinctive whale tale rear spoiler comes standard on this 964 as well as “RS” designations on the lower rear quarter panels.  Factory features include an optional sunroof and 17” Cup wheels which remain in pristine condition and come dressed in healthy Continental tires.

Inside, this RS America showcases a lightweight black interior. Porsche omitted non-essential luxuries such as power steering, cruise control and rear seats while utilizing flat door panels with pull straps and cloth covered sport seats in an effort to save weight.  The result of these strategic weight saving measures resulted in a 77lb lighter car with greatly improved handling capabilities and a more visceral driving experience.   The cabin is noted to be in exemplary condition with all gauges and accessories working properly including the factory optioned Porsche Becker CR-1 radio. Autographs from Vic Elford can also be seen on the driver's sun visor mirror and underneath the front hood.

An air cooled 3.6 L flat-six engine sends 247 HP to the rear wheels by way of a G50 5-speed manual transmission with limited slip differential, allowing for a 0-60 time of approximately 4.6 seconds.  Basic maintenance is said to have been kept up to date and the seller confirms that a fresh oil service will be carried out prior to delivery to its next owner.

The sale of this sought-after Porsche 964 will include one key, original owner’s books and documentation, a toolkit, an air compressor, a clean Carfax and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.  With under 2,500 miles showing on the odometer, this ideal 1993 example is sure to satisfy the most discerning Porsche collector, do not let this special opportunity pass you by.

@rkaufman11021 I just realized that your RSA does not have A/C...ugghhh. I have one hot rod build that does not have it and I can get away with that...but my VERY supporting PCAR wife would not allow another in the garage without it. Oh man...if only it had that option! GLWS, but you should not need luck...

@911guy LOL. Fair enough! And thank you. Yes, it is and tough to be parting with it.

@rkaufman11021 Thank you...the previous owner must be the same guy - or related to - the previous owner of my 993 Carrera S....a 3K mile car that also had a misplaced (let's call it lost!) window sticker. You're car is stunning..

@911guy The window sticker was misplaced by it's previous owner. If it ever turns up, I was assured I would be receiving it and would happily pass it on to the new owner. I was able to bypass not having the window sticker when I purchased this car for the reason that I had the other documentation included. With the respect of only a few cars out there in this type of condition and low mileage, I figured beggers can't be choosers.

    Thanks
    Rich

@PCARMARKET when you say the window sticker will not be included in the sale, does that mean that it is lost or the current owner is keeping it...either way, it is a significant piece of documentation to have - particularly with an investment vehicle of this quality.

@FLCarNut 1993 RSA did not have back seats, 1994 version added back seats. Total 701 cars produced in two years, I recall there were 84 units for 1994, the rest were for 1993.

I think if Hargerty is going to be the reference for all prices they should also add a spot to punch in the miles. This is a good example of Hagarty not having really getting the details correct for potential buyers. There is a YUGE difference from a 30k Concours level car and a 2k miles concours level car and everything in between. The real question is how far will this one get bid up to. Not everyone with lots of money will pay for a 2k car that you can not drive or it will just kill the value. This will have to be won buy a collector that will just let this 911 sit in a climate controlled garage. There is a little bit of chance that next owner can put a few thousand miles on it over the next 10 years so it would have 4k miles and keep the fluids and car in good working order and then sell. Risk is paint chips taking it down the road and a dump truck drops some FN rocks off the back. So my guess is it will sit and poss taken to PCA event concours. Best of luck this is such an amazing Time Capsule.

@FLCarNut I don't believe your missing anything. However, I don't believe your accounting for the fact this vehicle is a 2000 Mile RS America in exquisite condition. Haggerty doesn't always account for super low mileage either. Haggerty and Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds are all just guides. Sometimes they are way off. Sometimes they are on point. Evidently, it seems they are far off on that appraisal value. The bidding on this particular auction proves that. I could assure you if they were plentiful out there and can be purchased for $120,000.00 then I would certainly be buying them all up!

While Hagerty doesn't have a 1993 RS America in their database, they do have a 1994. They list a #1 concours condition value for that vehicle of $129,000 as of this month, September 2020. Does a '93 have something special that a '94 doesn't? With all due respect, am I missing something here? Thanks.

Just curious as to why the window sticker is not included with the car??

  • rkaufman11021 (seller) 3 years, 7 monthsago

@rsamerica This vehicle can be seen at Pcar Market Facility in Oyster Bay by appointment only.

    Thanks

When and where can the car be seen?
    Thanks

  • PCARMARKET 3 years, 7 monthsago

@rsamerica The window sticker will not be included with the sale. The seller states that Eibach springs are currently installed on the vehicle.

@muirfrey I am unfamiliar with the Haggerty Labels but I would suggest this vehicle to be in concourse quality condition. I currently have a few vehicles insured with Haggerty Including this one and I have them insured for a $$$$ value of my choice.

    Thanks
