Up for auction is this 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser HDJ81 VX Limited finished in Dark Emerald Pearl over a gray cloth interior. The 80 Series Land Cruiser was introduced in 1990 as the replacement for the 60 series and featured vast improvements in luxury and comfort as well as a new generation of diesel-powered engines. This 5-speed 1993 example comes equipped with the premium VX trim package and features a 1HD-T turbo diesel engine, a center-locking differential, rear limited-slip differential, an aftermarket lift kit with Big Country shocks, upgraded three-piece 16” Work Crag wheels, a TJM front bumper with PIAA driving lights, Diorama chrome rock sliders, an aftermarket swing-out rear tire carrier, and more. Imported from Japan in March of 2021, this classic righthand drive Land Cruiser was previously listed on PCARMARKET and is now being offered for auction out of Texas while showing approximately 124k kilometers (77k miles) on the odometer.
This Land Cruiser 80 comes finished in Dark Emerald Pearl (6M1) and features factory Toyota mud flaps and running boards as well as “Turbo” and “Four Wheel Drive” lettering on the sides. Several aftermarket accessories have been installed including a TJM Products aluminum front bumper with PIAA auxiliary lights, EGR rain guards, and chrome Diorama rock sliders. Additional exterior equipment includes a power-operated sunroof with a wind deflector, a driver’s side fender-mounted parking mirror, chrome mirror caps and door handles, headlight washers, and an aftermarket swing-out rear tire carrier. The seller reports the frame to have been painted black by the previous owner and notes a small ding and paint chip on the driver’s side front door, a dent on the rear bumper below the CIBIE decal, minor paint fade on the driver’s side front fender, and several small chips on the hood. This Land Cruiser rides on a set of rare three-piece 16” Crag forged wheels manufactured by Work, which come dressed in a set of 33” Yokohama GeoLander All-Terrain tires dated from 2018.
The cabin is trimmed in gray cloth upholstery with the driver situated on the right-hand side. Factory options include a rear seat heater, a sunroof, a compass, and an altimeter. A host of aftermarket upgrades are equipped including a Nardi Torino steering wheel, a JDM compass and altimeter, a turbo timer, and a backup camera. Some signs of wear are noted on the center console and steering wheel. The air conditioning system is said to have been recharged and serviced in September of 2021 with a new belt and compressor. All gauges, lights, and accessories are said to be functioning properly aside from the Japanese-market Kenwood radio which will not work in the United States.
Power comes from a 4.2L 12-valve 1HD-FT turbodiesel inline-six which features a single overhead cam and direct injection. Approximately 168 HP and 280 lb.-ft of torque are sent to all four wheels through a 5-speed H151F manual transmission featuring a dual-range transfer case a locking center differential, and a rear limited-slip differential. This Japanese market 80-series allows for the selection of full-time four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, an option not available on US models. The engine has received an aftermarket performance tune, and a Jasma exhaust has been installed for a more aggressive tone. A lift kit has also been equipped, providing for a modest increase in ride height, and Big Country shock absorbers have been installed in place of the original adjustable shocks. Models outside the U.S/ also received provisions for dual batteries, and this HDJ81 has two Panasonic Japanese-market heavy-duty batteries fitted in the engine bay. Minor surface rust is present on some suspension components, although the body panels, rockers, and floorboards are all said to be free of corrosion. About time these RHD imports saw some love. I can't understand what so many people have against a Right hand drive off-roader. I personally love my HJ45 RHD and the i6 diesel that may be slow as sludge but can climb straight up a brick wall. GLWS!

@Nelson_Wells on the paint. I don't believe any of the rig has been painted as it all shows the same age. I know what you are looking at. There are no tape lines or signs of respray. ???
@Nelson_Wells Timing belt was done, I can't remember exact milage as I have had a family emergency and am not with the paperwork/truck sorry about that and I will try to get an answer but it will come after the end of the auction. The black paint was done in Japan, common practice in some regions of Japan. I am not a fan. The truck is solid with only surface rust on moving suspension parts. The tune was done in Japan as they added an exhaust system. I don't have any more details. I am happy to have anyone come inspect the truck and I will put it on a lift for you. @GFMotorsports hey, i love the JDM rigs/turbo diesels. Can you answer a couple quick questions.. Is the black spray underneath spray paint or Por15? was it done in the US/by you? Explain (rust remediation etc?). Is the faintly visible orange peel between the rear spare and license plate sign of a respray, and if so how much of the rig was painted/where? Can you explain the "aftermarket performance tune?" Finally, has the timing belt been replaced yet? Thanks for your understanding and patience with my questions. GLWS!

Hello everyone, we have put around 6KM on this rig and it is wonderful. Shifts like it should. Heat and AC will run you out if you want it to. CD player does play US CDs. I have not spent the time to do the translation for hooking up my phone but I bet the bluetooth would work as well. backup camera is a nice touch so you dont back up over a Prius.
