We are pleased to present this 1994 Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 finished in Polar Silver Metallic over a black leather interior.  After proving the reliability of its 3.6L engine in the Carrera Cup racing series, Porsche first offered a turbocharged version for the 964 in January of 1993.  The Turbo 3.6 became one of the fastest production cars in the world at the time, sending as much as 360 HP to the rear wheels.  One of 1,437 examples produced in total, this 1993 Turbo 3.6 was sold new from Hoehn Motors of California with options including supple leather seats, front seat heating and lumbar support, and leather door window pillars.  The car is said to have remained with the original owner up until 1997 when it was acquired by its last owner who drove the car sparingly while having all service carried out by Black Forest Automotive.  Acquired by the seller in February of 2019, this Turbo has remained in California throughout its entire life and is now being offered for auction with just over 45k miles showing on the odometer.

This 964 came finished in Polar Silver Metallic and is distinguished by wide fenders, a Tea Tray rear spoiler, a special chromium rear model logo, and "Big Red" Brembo brake calipers tucked behind 18” Speedline 3-piece wheels.  Per the seller, there is no evidence of a repaint and there are several minor cosmetic imperfections throughout the exterior as depicted in the photo gallery.  A clean CARFAX report is also available for reference.  The car has been lowered to European ride height and the original springs are said to accompany the sale.  The wheels are currently dressed in a set of Bridgestone Potenza tires.

Inside, this 964 is appointed with black leather upholstery including optional supple leather seats and leather door window pillars.  Other factory options include front seat heating and lumbar support, a sunroof, and velour carpet floor mats.  A kill switch has been added using an OEM rocker switch and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly including the original Porsche CR-1 radio.

The turbocharged 3.6L flat-six engine in this 964 generates as much as 360 HP and 384 lb.-ft of torque. Power is directed to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Compared with the original 964 Turbo, the 3.6 model features a retuned suspension and an improved braking system with larger rotors and red 4-piston Brembo calipers derived from the Turbo S. The seller, states that the car has been maintained by Black Forest Automotive for nearly its entire life and corresponding invoices are provided in the gallery.

This sale will include the original window sticker, factory springs, a Porsche Production Specifications Certificte, and a clean California title.  Among the rarest and most sought-after air-cooled 911 Turbos of all, this 964 Turbo 3.6 is an excellent choice for collectors and discerning drivers alike.

@dnamotorsports911, I have a black one already and a few 993 turbos. I'm really looking for a 965 turbo s non flatnose. You guys are in San Diego?

    Finally a USA Model

  • cobalt 2 years, 7 monthsago

Based on my vin number and trans s/n that would definitely be in range. I have no doubt the engine is. Just found that a bit odd those CofA’s can create confusion. I had to send mine back three times and supply my window sticker.

@cobalt As Cobalt has mentioned the transmission number is in fact incorrect on the COA. The car however has the proper G50/52 transmission number (G50/52 002815). As for the engine number we are assuming it is incorrect as well on the COA based on the DOT sticker under the hood (M6450-61P), however as the AC unit is in the way in the engine bay we can not determine the actual engine numbers. But going off of the history of the vehicle, having known it's previous owners, as well as having a very good relationship with Black Forest Automotive (which cared for the car it's entire life) we can assume that the engine is the original and has the proper numbers for a 3.6 Turbo.

Clean 3.3's are selling for more than the current bid. Exceptionally clean examples fetch well over $300k. This is not a #1 car but should be above $250k mark at a min.

@cobalt that's very interesting I hadn't noticed that. I'll get the car up in the air today and will upload the pictures to verify everything later today.

  • cobalt 2 years, 7 monthsago

Other than the obvious it appears to be a nice 3.6T although I have a question regarding the Certificate of Authenticity. I have seen many wrong CofA's but this one is particularly disturbing. It states the trans number as 62L05652 (M64/01) and trans as 1L02602 (G50/03)

This must be a mistake on Porsche's PCNA's part as that would make the engine a normally aspirated 1990 3.6L the second number should be a 1 and the L a P being a 718 coded car.

A turbo would come with a G50/52 and not a G50/03 which wouldn't apply to a US spec 94 even if it were an N/A car. A 94 transmission wouldn't have a letter in the number and would just be the trans serial number. A trans with an L in the second location would be from a 1990.

I have no doubt it is a mistake on Porsches part but is it possible to add pics of the trans and engine serial numbers and their vin stickers per 1994 DOT requirements?

@Agar I have purchased a paint meter and should arrive today or tomorrow, as soon as it arrives I shall take the readings and post them. Also during the video the abs light came on. I had to brake fairly hard as the light turned red and as I pressed on the brakes I drove over a steel plate on the driver side and abs kicked in for a moment. I have since driven the car and the light went away.

  • Agar 2 years, 7 monthsago

    Hi,

would also like to see the paint thickness on all panels pls?
Also, I have notice a red light come on during the test drive video?
what is the problem ? Airbag warning light or something else?
    Thx

  • DNAMotorsports911 (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@ronwangu 964s can be lowered properly with lowering springs and it does not affect the handling negatively, unlike with the torsion bar suspension of the older cars. Lowering this car actually provides better handling and better center of gravity. The H&R springs installed on this car are a great addition. However if you prefer the taller ride of the factory springs those will be provided to the winner of the auction.

  • ronwangu (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Nice car. But my pet peave is this obsession with lowering ride heights to “European” ride heights. However most of the time it isn’t properly done. Most of the time they’re lowered such that the car is riding directly on the shocks and that causes the car to bounce over bumps and wander through turns.
I own 4 Porsches 911/930s and I have had to spend more money to correct the suspension.
