Few cars are as recognizable as the Porsche Speedster.  The third generation of the Speedster offered here is no exception.  After spending its entire life in California, this rare example is being offered for sale.  Only 427 of the 936 total units produced worldwide were available for sale in the US when new.

This stunning Black on Black Porsche 911 Speedster is powered by its original 3.6L M64 247HP flat-6 engine and G50 5-speed manual transaxle.   The Speedster shows 64,508 miles on the odometer.

Paint meter readings are shown in the gallery giving an honest description of the vehicle.  The seller also reports that the clamshell was refinished as these were known to crack over time.  He also states that the original manually operated soft top is in good condition and has the appropriate wear for its age and mileage.   The unique factory windshield is reminiscent of the iconic 356 Speedster from the 1950’s. This example has been fitted with a set of Speedline replica wheels and wears Bridgestone Potenza tires.

In 2014, new piston rings were installed along with a bottom end reseal and a valve job. The replacement of a kinematic arm and the driver-side window switches were performed in March 2016.  A brake fluid flush was performed and the right rear axle boot was replaced in January 2018.

As the photos show, the rich black interior comes with air conditioning, cruise control, RS-style door panels, power windows, and aluminum-trimmed VDO gauges.  An upgraded stereo has also been installed.

The clean Carfax indicates a history of dealership maintenance and lists three other California owners.

The Porsche Speedster was the brainchild of Porsche importer Max Hoffman in the mid 1950’s.  There were only 3 air-cooled Speedster models created. all of which are coveted collector cars today.  Porsche is preparing to launch the newest iteration of the Speedster in 2019, continuing a legacy that started back in 1955.  Few cars combine the design, performance, and open road experience quite like the Porsche Speedster.

The Wheels are 18's and the paint work was done by a previous owner. Not sure as to why but the car shows no signs of of any accident.

Are the wheels 17's or 18's? Do we know what the reason for the paint work is?
