Porsche’s ultimate grand touring car, the 928 GTS made its debut in 1991 featuring widened fenders, larger brakes, and a more powerful 5.4L V8 engine.  This 1994 GTS is one of 139 North American examples produced for the model year and only 44 equipped with a 5-speed manual transaxle.  Finished in striking Iris Blue Pearl over Classic Grey leather, this GTS was sold new from Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas, Nevada, featuring rear-seat air conditioning and optional heated seats with adjustable lumbar support.  It was first registered in 1997 with only 263 miles showing on the odometer and was continually maintained through Gaudin Porsche up until 2013 as supported by an extensive collection of records. This incredibly unique 928 made its way to New York in 2018 where it is now being offered for auction showing just over 79k miles on the odometer.

This 928 was ordered in Iris Blue Pearl, a seldom-seen color offered by Porsche during the mid-1990s. The GTS can be distinguished from a standard 928 S4 by its widened rear fenders, painted rear spoiler, Cup design mirrors, and red taillight panel.  Optional protective side moldings are equipped along with a set of 17” Cup 2 wheels with colored Porsche center crests and Goodyear Eagle Sport tires.  The car has been refinished at some point and minor imperfections are depicted in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a CARFAX report showing minor damage to the left-rear end in 2009.

Inside, the driver is greeted by a Classic Grey leather interior featuring optional heated front seats with adjustable lumbar support as well as an electric sunroof, rear-seat air conditioning, automatic climate control, and full power accessories.  Some broken slats are depicted in the rear-seat A/C vents and an aftermarket JVC Bluetooth radio has been installed.

The 5.4L V8 DOHC engine includes four valves per cylinder and delivers up to 345 HP and 369 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a rare 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The GTS comes standard with larger black-painted 4-piston aluminum brakes and this example benefits from more robust connecting rods introduced during the 1994 model year.  Records show routine maintenance carried out by the original selling Porsche dealership from 1997 up until 2013, with subsequent service by Trophy Performance of Las Vegas.  Highlights include a major 60k-mile service in 2007, replacement of the clutch master cylinder in 2011, and an overhaul of the intake system in 2012 along with replacement of the steering rack. Corresponding records are provided in the gallery.

This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, service records, and a clean title. A truly rare find in Iris Blue Pearl, this 5-speed 928 GTS presents an opportunity that is not to be missed.

I hope the new owner will bring it up to deserved restoration. Too bad the paint is what it is.

@Hi I've seen recent auctions and sales - havent seen a GTS go for over 130k ever, and that one ha 14k miles. So, sounds like you got a great deal, an anomaly for sure, good for you, but that's not the real market.

  • Hi (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@jangus35. not really..I just sold a 1994 white red interior with 65K miles for $138.000 about 6 months ago ..it depends. you have to go where the money is and people really understand about market value ... just do a little research on other sites you'll see what the reality is.

@Hi if there wasn't the paint issues, nor the misleading "one owner" title, it would get maybe 100k, 150k is a way bit extreme...

@jangus35 I sure did. but they are so small irrelevant. For a purist maybe not but that would be a car for $150K +.

very nice car and well kept for the time...I don't understand why there's people on auction site that wake up just trying to damage somebody else deal ..Car is in very good condition inside out The issues regarding the paint are so small that really doesn't make any difference and I'm a car detail when it comes to buying. Go for amazing car very rare in beautiful color

i owned a 94 in midnight blue for 8 years, sold it 4-5 years ago for $115k. original paint in near perfect condition, same with interior. only had 39k miles on it. i'd also owned an S4 and a '81 german line 928. The GTS was the big daddy. Lots of torque, fast, and the handling. Parts are expensive, in particular those timing belts and water pumps. After time the plastic and rubber cracks, etc. Dash is one piece, but for the floater counsel around the steering wheel that is adjustable. I was never a fan of the dog leg trans for 1st to 2nd, but I had a blast with all 3 of those 928's over the series. and the production numbers for the series, especially how many in manual. i'd also removed the 3rd muffler to give it grunt and add some kick. Can go x-pipe if you want heads with WTF faces turning to see what's coming. Fabspeed.

  • biscuit (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

    @luis.seneriz Thank you!

  • jangus35 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@biscuit it's unfortunate because it's a pretty color... Not sure why they skimped on taking care of the car

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@biscuit. Please read every comment regarding the re spray paint job. These are photos here in person you’ll see much more that can be detected here, it’s a pretty unique car in my opinion some corners were cut in the repaint. Also as someone else had said Figure out an engine out service. Bottom line more than I willing to pay for and not fast enough for me.

  • biscuit (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@luis.seneriz What photos indicate a low quality paint job? Could you explain a bit more?

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

The fact that they paint job looks as mayco detracts a lot from whatever price this is going to get. I’ll be watching but not sure I’ll put more money in it.

  • Maui928 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

The crack in the POD is more easily repaired by removing it but that process is fairly straight forward.

  • Maui928 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Dash is one piece. The crack by the passenger airbag can be repaired without removing the dash.

  • draab29 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@gg2 or anyone who knows- Is the dash for a '94 GTS multiple pieces? I can't tell if the lines in the dash are cracks or intentional separations for a multi-piece dash. Thanks

  • ggg2 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@BarryLe Well, we can agree on the “Great 928 GTS”. Indeed the interior pictures tell the story. It clearly has been taken care of by its original owner. The whole package, despite the disappointing paint job, was what attracted me to the car initially. The car is available to be seen.

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

ggg2: There is only one definition for a “One Owner Car”. All of the interested parties here know it and you know it. Pcarmarket should have flagged your deceptive description. That being said, you still have a great 928 GTS. We all know about the poor respray but I have a question about the 928’s interior. From your pictures, the interior of the car, the seats, the dashboard, the door cards, the carpets, and the steering wheel all look like new. Is the interior really as good as the pictures seem to suggest? If so, how do you explain that condition in a 28 year old 90,000 mile car? I am thinking that all bidders should be budgeting a minimum of $20,000.00 for a glass out respray to a high standard, new tires, and a major engine service including belts, hoses, tensioners, water pump, and a complete change of fluids.

  • jangus35 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Too much uncertainty is making this really questionable and shady.... Went one one owner to two owners, which is fine to have two owners, but don't mislabel it. The repaint is sloppy, so what care was put into this mechanics nightmare....I hope there isn't a reserve because at this point it doesn't deserve one

@PCARMARKET should change the title of this auction

  • ggg2 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@shovey28 no misleading intended. it is "one Owner' from the sense that one person owned the car for all of its driven life. maintenance by one owner. originality by one owner. carafe has clear information as far as legal ownership may be concerned.

    I meant no offense.

only that it is a very original car.

  • Worldrider (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

I agree. Great looking car, but if the second owner is selling, why does the headline scream “one owner 928”?

  • shovey28 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Absolutely love the car, but why mislead with the one owner thing... two owners is fine it just puts into question everything .

  • tonygilmore1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

  • ggg2 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@BarryLe I’ve owned the car for about 3+ years. Private owner.

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

ggg2: How long have you had the car? Are you a dealer?

  • ggg2 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@BarryLe the owner from Las Vegas was the only owner who put any appreciable miles on this car. Few additional miles was for evaluation etc.

I did buy it to use as my older brother had one of these in the day and I always loved driving it. Plans changed.

We don’t know any more about the damage than what we’ve observed and in the documents. Sorry…

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

ggg2: It is a bit unclear from the description if you are the “one owner” of this 928. Can you clarify. Can you speak to the damage the car suffered in 2009? Also, it appears that the car has been driven only 19,000 mikes in the past 15 years. Can you comment on that as well?

ggg2: My belt is bigger as well! I love the car. I will bid now.

  • ggg2 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@BarryLe well, I know that all of my belts have gotten bigger over time..;) you are correct that preservation of older vehicles takes commitment. However, repairs are much cheaper while the rotating parts are still rotating.. it was cared for well by the prior owner and that says something.

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

ggg2: Given that the belt service and water pump service was done 15 years ago, should I assume as a bidder that this service needs to be done now just because of elapsed time not mileage? This is a superb 928 GTS but I am starting to feel that it needs a glass out respray and a major service.

  • ggg2 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@draab29 there is no discernible damage other than light road going wear. we are putting up additional photos in the gallery that don't have the reflection issue. thank you!

  • PCARMARKET_MODERATOR 2 years, 1 monthago

Additional content has been added to the listing gallery.

  • ggg2 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@BarryLe The 60K service was completed on 6/6/07 at 55,667 miles. thank you!

  • draab29 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@ggg2- Beautiful 928 in a stunning color! In photo 114 (Passenger rocker) is there a dent or body damage to the passenger rocker panel? Difficult to tell if its damage or light reflection.
    Thanks

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Ggg2: I just saw the service records for the 60,000 mile service that was performed including belts and water pump. However, I could not find the date of that service. Seller, when was that work done? Thanks. I will bid on this 928 tomorrow.

  • ggg2 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@agt6381 we only ran it very little but we saw no smoke.

  • jangus35 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Everybody wants a glass out respray of the car.... Absolutely not. Just repaint the damaged area, and wet sand/buff the car... Keep the paint as original as possible. A respray just brings down the value

  • ggg2 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@BarryLe honestly, that is what attracted me to the car in the first place. It is rare to get an unmolested one-owner car that havens seen a "Sandy" flood or some other catastrophe befall it in its lifetime.

The I purchased it, I had other plans but in life, who hasn't!? ;-)

thank you for the kind words.

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Ggg2: This is such a nice 928 that it probably deserves a full glass out respray with all new rubber seals at a high quality paint shop. I think the engine compartment and the interior look exceptionally nice for the mileage on the car. I will be bidding on this car.

  • ggg2 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@BarryLe yes, it appears that it was not a glass out respray. it was owned by an older gentleman who can no longer be reached for comments.

the car can be viewed by appointment at PCARMARKET in Oyster Bay, NY

@Maui928 yes, I see repaint on various black seals...

  • Maui928 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Based on pic 153 you can see that the rear bumper was not removed when the car was repainted as the black rubber seal around the edges has been painted. I would assume that this was not a proper glass out paint job.

  • PCARMARKET_MODERATOR 2 years, 1 monthago

Paint meter readings have been added to the listing gallery.

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Seller: This 928 is being represented here as a one owner car. A respray at some point is not good enough. When was the car resprayed? Who did the work? Was it a glass out respray? From the pictures, it looks like it was not a glass out respray which is unfortunate for such a nice 928 GTS. The bidders need more information.

  • BC993 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

    Hello-
I am also local and would like to see the car, if possible. Please advise.

  • Concours (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Beautiful looking example. The ad states that the car has been refinished. Has the entire car been repainted? It also states paint meter readings are shown in the gallery but I don’t see those. Do you have those available please? Thanks

  • stephencbt 2 years, 1 monthago

I am local. Can I see the car?
