Among the last of the Porsche 964s, this 1994 Carrera 2 is one of just 283 Cabriolets produced for the United States during the final model year.  Equipment includes a factory original CR-1 radio, optional amplifier, rear seat delete, upgraded air filter, and G50 5-speed manual transmission.  Maintained by the same caretaker since 2011 while always stored during winters, this 964 is now being offered for auction on behalf of its owner out of Maine while showing just over 88k miles on the odometer.

This Carrera 2 comes finished in Black (L741) with a matching soft top and tonneau cover.  Features include late-model Cup mirrors, a “basket handle” third brake light, and factory 16” C2 5-spoke wheels with optional colored center crests and Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires dated from 2013-14.  Some minor cosmetic imperfections are noted throughout the exterior including a small bubbling spot ahead of the driver’s side windshield, cracked taillight lenses, and a faded center reflector lens.  The left front fender is also believed to have been repaired following minor damage under previous ownership.  Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing damage to the left front in 2003.

The black interior includes power-adjustable front seats and an original Porsche CR-1 cassette radio as well as a rear seat delete with parcel shelf and storage cubbies.  An optional amplifier was equipped from the factory along with air-conditioning, cruise control, a central locking system, power mirrors, and power windows.  An aftermarket center console has been added along with custom Porsche-crested door speaker trims.  All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional apart from the original radio.

The air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine produces up to 247 HP and drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission.  An upgraded Filtron air filter has been installed and a history of routine maintenance has reportedly been documented in accompanying service records.

This sale will include service records, an air pump, spare tire, the original owner's manuals, and a valid Maine registration.

    Big thanks to seller for so graciously letting me intrude on dinner with his wife. My apologies for the timing. Just figured I would add my observations from a brief walk around. It was late and raining so I did not drive the car. The paint condition is as you would expect from a 28 year old car and I think represented accurately in the listing. I would call it good driver quality paint. It has flaws (scratches, chips, swirls, etc.) from 28 years of road going in the Northeast. The engine is pretty wet, particularly passenger side upper and lower valve covers. Right side heat exchanger has some oily wetness, and in my experience not uncommon for oil to drop on top of the heat exchangers and burn off. Seller said he hasn’t noticed any smells from such an occurrence. Frunk appears to have some corrosion under the battery and across the front to the passenger side. I got underneath and squeezed / flicked the rubber drain plugs and they were plugged with a white chalky substance which I assume is corrosion. Hopefully just a wire brush, prep and paint to alleviate the corrosion in the Frunk. Lastly, I noticed the gas cap cover/lid was sitting recessed into the fender as if it wasn’t adjusted properly when the fender was repaired/replaced. Seller mentioned that there are three allen head screws for adjustment here. This can be seen in picture 27. In picture 55 you can see that the steering column cover (upper and lower clamshell) is misaligned and a screw is missing. I assume this is simply due to installation of the radar detector. Lastly, ash tray dropped down but wouldn’t go back up. Minor detail, but common on these cars. All in all seems like a nice car that can be driven and enjoyed while owner attends to very minor maintenance items. Thanks again to seller for letting me stop in so late on a Sunday evening.

    @twin-grille-roadster The windshield is a Sigla Windshield so I doubt that it was replaced in 2003. Having driven the car in the rain once and washed it several times, I attest to the fact that it does not leak.

    @Pnut964 Sorry I missed your message. I was away and on my way home. The car is available to be seen at your convenience.

    @twin-grille-roadster I sent you a message hoping to see the car this evening. Just wanted to make sure you saw it. I’m only about 15 minutes away from you. Thanks

    @NoSadDict Hi Connor,
    The accident occurred in 2003. I do not know exactly what was replaced. I can check to see if the windshield is an original one when I return home later this afternoon. The air conditioning is working and there are two keys included with the sale.
    Thanks for your questions,
    Michael

    Hi,

    Couple questions;

    - Do you know if the front fender or the windshield is replaced after the mentioned accident? How much of the car is resprayed?

    - Does the AC work?

    - How many keys were included with the sale?

    Thanks,

    Connor

    @CBRacerX I have no experience with the Porsche Windstop and have looked at it and I am not sure how it is deployed.

  • CBRacerX (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

    This has the Porsche Windstopper. Would be good to see a pic with that deployed.

    @Johnny3 I have service records back to 53,000 miles and there is no record of a clutch replacement. I can say that the clutch operates perfectly with no slippage or chatter. At times there has been a spot of oil under it about the size of a silver dollar. I moved the car yesterday and as of just now there is no spot under it.

  • twin-grille-roadster (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

    @Johnny3 I have posted two pictures of the bubble in front of the windshield. It measures about one inch in length.

    Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.

  • Johnny3 (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

    And a few other questions...

    Does the car still have its original clutch?

    Clearly from pic she's a little leaky (typical of these cars at this age)... does the garage floor have a silver dollar sized spot, a coffee saucer sized spot or does it look like Rorschach test? I ask because I am trying to gauge how close we are to a reseal (I think I know the answer already).

    Thanks!

    Hi Michael, Can you post some close-up pictures of the "small bubbling spot ahead of the driver’s side windshield"?

    Hello fellow Porsche enthusiasts,
    I am listing this wonderful driving 964 for the widow of a friend of mine. His untimely passing last November was a shock to all of us. His beloved Porsche will make it's next owner smile every time they slide behind the wheel. I am available for any questions which I will answer to the best of my ability. Best of luck to all of the bidders.
    Thank you,
    Michael
