Now up for auction is this 1995 BMW E36 M3 presented in Daytona Violet over a Grey Nappa leather interior.  Equipped with a venerable 3.0 L S50 inline-6 engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, this example has also been upgraded with a Dinan supercharger kit providing for a significant increase in power.  With a recent inspection carried out by a reputable specialist in preparation for sale, this remarkable E36 M3 is now being offered by its seller in Indiana while showing approximately 82k miles on the odometer.

The unique Daytona Violet finish on this M3 is said to be in good overall condition with a paint correction recently performed on the hood and roof.  The paint is believed to be original and the seller indicates some clear coat fade on the roof along with some slight warpage on the front bumper and other minor cosmetic imperfections. Minor cosmetic damage is also reported in CARFAX (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  This M3 rides on BMW Style 24 wheels that come dressed in Firestone front and Michelin rear tires dating from 2016-2017.

The Grey Nappa leather interior is said to have been kept in good condition except for some wear on the driver’s seat bolster and a slight tear on the driver’s door panel.  The deviated sunroof headliner is also reported to sag.  Noteworthy details include M-stripes on the seats, a BMW Motorsports glovebox plaque, M-color steering wheel stitching, and “M3” logo door sill plates.  An aftermarket head unit has been installed and all gauges and accessories are reported to be fully functional including the factory heated/power-operated seats.

From the factory, the naturally aspirated 3.0 L S50 inline-6 was rated at 240 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque.  A Dinan supercharger system has been installed along with an upgraded Eisenmann exhaust allowing for a significant increase in power.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transmission.  An inspection was recently carried out by a trusted BMW specialist and a fresh oil change was performed within the last few months along with the installation of a new battery.  This M3 is said to be in good running order, just waiting to be driven by a new owner.

This sale will include 1 master key, a full-size spare wheel, a toolkit, a car cover, and a clean title.  With tasteful performance upgrades and a stunning factory color, this E36 is not to be overlooked.

    @Moeplomteaux We saw that as well, so we had a PPI performed by a local specialist as well as an in-house compression test (all available in the gallery).

    @mec011 Just the battery and oil service. I'll have to test a few on the interior items, for example the driver's heated seat does in fact work, I'm unsure on the passenger.

    A lot of issues noted on the PPI that you provided.
    Other than the battery replacement mentioned in the inspection receipt and the paint correction mentioned in the description, which of the issues mentioned have been attended to at this point?

    Major items seem to be:
    Idle Surge
    Bent rear lower control arms
    Leaking trans seal
    Cracked drive belt
    Cracked flex disk
    Incorrect coolant
    Unconnected/Cut O2 sensor

    And a few significant interior issues noted:
    Horn broken
    Cruise Control broken
    A/C not cold
    Passenger seat belt won't retract
    Seat heaters broken

    Thanks for this info!

    @Berosucci I don’t disagree with you. ??

  • Berosucci (registered bidder) 3 years, 4 monthsago

    @Psuluke - not sure I understand your thinking. if you feel it is so rare put in a bid you are comfortable with that takes into account the rarity and the inspection report. Then, get the car repaired and love it like you say you would....At least the inspection has been done for you and the seller is being upfront about what the car is. That's what I did with the '99 M3 i bought a year and a half ago knowing what it needed and that I would turn it into a streetable, track attacking car. And, it has been great. If you want to bring this back to original, go for it....

    @EnthusiastAutoHaus thank you

  • EnthusiastAutoHaus (seller) 3 years, 4 monthsago

    @Car_guy VIN tags are present and matching on lower windshield, firewall, driver door sill, driver door, outside and inside trunk lid, and passenger door.

  • Car_guy (registered bidder) 3 years, 4 monthsago

    Do you know if any of the vin tags are still intact? If so which ones are there and which are missing? Also does the vin stamp on the firewall match?

  • EnthusiastAutoHaus (seller) 3 years, 4 monthsago

    @Psuluke Yeah it's a really cool car, drives nice, great power, it's just in need of some misc details sorted out. I'm unsure if there was a repaint, the meter readings didn't seem to vary too much, although I haven't done readings on a comparable M3 (I do have a friend with a '98 I'd like to get comps on). We also saw that thread and performed a compression test and the results were good (there should be a photo in the gallery) with all cylinders around 200 psi with a 6 psi deviation.

    Thanks!
    Jon

    I was really bumped when I saw this listing.. then I read the inspection report and the front end repaint.
    Bummer. Such a rare car, and one I would have loved to own...
