Up for auction is this 1995 BMW E36 M3 finished in Avus Blue Metallic over a grey M-cloth interior. Reported to have been imported from Japan in 2011, this M3 showcases several performance upgrades including KW coil-overs and a Supersprint exhaust, as well as a factory European-spec S50 inline-6 engine offering an increase of more than 40 HP over the U.S. version. It is now being offered by its seller in Canada with approximately 117k kilometers (72k miles) showing on the odometer.
The Avus Blue Metallic finish is said to be very clean with 3M paint protection film applied over the front bumper, hood, fenders, headlamps, and roof (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). The seller indicates this vehicle to have been kept in a heated garage and never subjected to winter driving conditions under their ownership. CARFAX shows damage to the right side in 2010 which is said to have been a cosmetic incident to the rear bumper. Damage to the left side is also reported in 2016 which required the driver side quarter panel to be replaced by a BMW certified repair shop using BMW parts to factory specifications. Aftermarket LED fog lights and angel-eye headlights have been installed along with a black front kidney grille, the brake calipers have been powder coated, and this E36 rides on factory 17” DS2 wheels that come dressed in 45/40 Michelin Pilot Sport tires with 2015 date codes. A full-size spare is included as well.
The cabin is upholstered in grey “Amaretta” M-cloth. Factory equipment includes an M-Sports multifunction steering wheel, air conditioning, the HiFi Speaker System, and “M3” branded doorsill plates. This example has been modified with an aftermarket UUC Evo 3 short shifter, aluminum performance pedals, upgraded Audison Crossovers, a remote controlled alarm system, Hertz/JL Speakers, a 4-channel amp, and an Alpine head unit. Some imperfections are depicted on the driver’s seat upholstery and the seller describes the interior to be in good condition with all gauges and accessories working properly.
This E36 is powered by a European-spec S50 inline 6-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Compared with the U.S.-spec output of 240 HP, this M3's engine is capable of sending 286 HP to the rear wheels. Unique features of this Euro-spec engine include increased bore and stroke, increased compression, individual throttle bodies, and continuous VANOS variable valve timing. Additionally, this example has been upgraded with a performance air intake, a Supersprint Sport Edition muffler, a Euro resonator, StopTech brake lines, and KW V2 coil-overs. Routine annual service is said to have been carried out by an authorized BMW repair center and the seller reports approximately 20k kilometers driven in the last 9 years of ownership.
This sale will include multiple keys and a clean title. For any European sports car enthusiast, this nicely presented Japanese-market E36 M3 offers a very special opportunity.
