1995 BMW E36 M3 Japanese-Market

Up for auction is this 1995 BMW E36 M3 finished in Avus Blue Metallic over a grey M-cloth interior.  Reported to have been imported from Japan in 2011, this M3 showcases several performance upgrades including KW coil-overs and a Supersprint exhaust, as well as a factory European-spec S50 inline-6 engine offering an increase of more than 40 HP over the U.S. version.  It is now being offered by its seller in Canada with approximately 117k kilometers (72k miles) showing on the odometer.

The Avus Blue Metallic finish is said to be very clean with 3M paint protection film applied over the front bumper, hood, fenders, headlamps, and roof (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  The seller indicates this vehicle to have been kept in a heated garage and never subjected to winter driving conditions under their ownership.  CARFAX shows damage to the right side in 2010 which is said to have been a cosmetic incident to the rear bumper.  Damage to the left side is also reported in 2016 which required the driver side quarter panel to be replaced by a BMW certified repair shop using BMW parts to factory specifications.  Aftermarket LED fog lights and angel-eye headlights have been installed along with a black front kidney grille, the brake calipers have been powder coated, and this E36 rides on factory 17” DS2 wheels that come dressed in 45/40 Michelin Pilot Sport tires with 2015 date codes.  A full-size spare is included as well.

The cabin is upholstered in grey “Amaretta” M-cloth.  Factory equipment includes an M-Sports multifunction steering wheel, air conditioning, the HiFi Speaker System, and “M3” branded doorsill plates.  This example has been modified with an aftermarket UUC Evo 3 short shifter, aluminum performance pedals, upgraded Audison Crossovers, a remote controlled alarm system, Hertz/JL Speakers, a 4-channel amp, and an Alpine head unit.  Some imperfections are depicted on the driver’s seat upholstery and the seller describes the interior to be in good condition with all gauges and accessories working properly.

This E36 is powered by a European-spec S50 inline 6-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.  Compared with the U.S.-spec output of 240 HP, this M3's engine is capable of sending 286 HP to the rear wheels. Unique features of this Euro-spec engine include increased bore and stroke, increased compression, individual throttle bodies, and continuous VANOS variable valve timing.  Additionally, this example has been upgraded with a performance air intake, a Supersprint Sport Edition muffler, a Euro resonator, StopTech brake lines, and KW V2 coil-overs.  Routine annual service is said to have been carried out by an authorized BMW repair center and the seller reports approximately 20k kilometers driven in the last 9 years of ownership.

This sale will include multiple keys and a clean title.  For any European sports car enthusiast, this nicely presented Japanese-market E36 M3 offers a very special opportunity.

Other than the noted panels repaired /replaced, has the car been repainted?
    - No. All original paint. OEM color is avus blue

Are all display pixels working? Any codes?
no codes and yes. The main computer that reads the time does have a line through the display. But, it is still readable and not an issue at all. I did replaced it with the another oem one when I first got the vehicle

What city in Alberta are you located? Personal inspection possible? Thanks.
Calgary. Yes, I don't see that being an issue

    Thanks 939 for the comment

    1. Beautiful car. For buyers from the US, what is involved with bringing the car into the states? Any taxes, duties, etc?
    - Unfortunately, you will have to pay import and taxes. I have purchased a few vehicle from the state and used cole international for all my needs. It was super easy. I'm assuming you could get it all done yourself for cheaper.

Any service history documents during your ownership?
    - My family owns a autobody shop and we are a the certified BMW repair center in Calgary (https://www.contemporarycoachworks.com/bmw-collision-repair-centre). All general services where completed on site (fluid/oil changes and annual inspection). If I needed any other work it was done at Calgary BMW or Vitek's Auto (https://bmwguys.ca/). I will upload the invoices I have from Vitek in the next hour or two. I barely drove the vehicle throughout my ownership and no major issues ever arised

Other than tires, what would the car need to make it a great weekend driver?
Absolutely nothing. I've taken very good care of it. To be honest, I was planning on keeping it forever. But certain circumstances arised and sad to sell. The supersprint muffler sounds amazing. About the same db as the stock exhaust. Very classy.

Given the worldwide pandemic, would you be able to store the car until travel to Canada is officially allowed and safe?
Of course! I'm very flexible. Whatever works for the buyer. Its kept in my heated garage under a car cover. At this time you can still bring cars in. We just brought in a 1969 Jaguar XKE Coupe
