Now available is this 1995 Dodge Viper RT/10 Roadster finished in Black over a tan leather interior.  Designed by Tom Gale at Chrysler's Advanced Design Studios, the original Dodge Viper was created at the behest of Bob Lutz following his suggestion of creating a modern interpretation of the Shelby Cobra.  A concept was unveiled at the 1989 North American International Auto Show before the first pre-production model made its debut in 1991 at the Indianapolis 500 with Carroll Shelby behind the wheel.  Power comes from a massive V10 engine developed in collaboration with then-Chrysler subsidiary Lamborghini. Representing the last of the first-generation SR 1 Vipers, this 1995 example was originally owned by Mo Vaughn of the Boston Red Sox before it was acquired by the seller in 2003.  This Viper is now being offered by its longtime owner out of Massachusetts while showing just over 40k miles on the odometer.

This Viper comes finished in Black and features a tubular steel frame with resin transfer molding fiberglass panels and characteristic side-exit exhaust pipes. Originally engineered as a barebones performance car, the Viper had no exterior-mounted door handles or key cylinders and was delivered with a simple canvas soft top and vinyl zipper windows. The seller has added a body-color removable hardtop and describes the exterior of the car to be in excellent condition overall, additional images are provided in the gallery. The seller reports that the hood was professionally repaired following an accident some years ago, and CARFAX shows a salvage title to have been issued in 1999 followed by a rebuilt title in 2000. CARFAX shows another minor damage to have occurred to the right rear-end in 2015, the full report is provided in the gallery.  The factory 17″ tri-spoke wheels are finished in silver and the tires are said to have been mounted within the last 500 miles.

The cabin is fitted with a pair of manually adjustable sports seats trimmed in tan leather along with matching carpets, door panels, and center console. A true purist’s sports car, this first-generation Viper offers only basic amenities including a glove box, air conditioning, a 12-volt outlet, a speaker system, and a suite of analog instrumentation. The seller describes the cabin to be well preserved with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional including the vintage Premier radio.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 8.0L V10 engine which was developed in coordination with Lamborghini.  As much as 400 HP and 465 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. With this robust powertrain and lack of driver aids such as traction control and anti-lock brakes, the original Viper is celebrated as one of the most analog and visceral sports cars of the era. The water pump was replaced in 2007 and the seller confirms that routine service has been carried out every 3k miles during their ownership.

This sale will include a reconstructed Massachusetts title. An appreciating modern classic, this 1995 Dodge Viper is ready to be enjoyed by a new caretaker.

@2021vette--mack Hi This car was puchased by Mo Vaughn. Then he had a crash it on the right front fender. The Insurance Company called it a total. The second person bought the car as a Salvage Title.
He repaired the car and had it re-titled as reconstructed. I purchased the car from him and have had no problems with the car. I just don't drive it much because I have three other cars. The frame was never damaged.

    Are you kidding??

  • kdumont11 (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@kdumont11 The previous damage to the car was the right front fender but NO FRAME DAMAGE. The title is a reconstructed title. It was examined after repair to approve the new reconstructed title. This car handles perfectly.

@Defi There's a small wear spot on the driver's seat. The rest of the car is in excellent condition. The convertible and tonneau cover go with the car. I'm not interested in removing the top now. It's in a heated garage. If you want to see a convertible of the same year there are many Viper's online. This car is a bargain compared to other Vipers.

Hi - great car. Can you share pics with top and windows off? Also, can you share why the title is rebuilt? Any comments you provide on the following would be helpful -

Looks like there may be a bumper alignment issue near passenger headlight?

Is there a rip on driver seat (can’t tell)?

Damage to drivers side rear bumbler?
