Now available for auction is this 1995 Mazda RX-7 Type RB Bathurst Edition finished in Chaste White over black cloth. This rare and highly collectible RX-7 is one of a reported 777 special edition cars produced in 1995 to commemorate Mazda’s three consecutive wins at the Bathurst 12 Hours of Australia from 1992-1994. Offered exclusively to the Japanese domestic market through Mazda’s luxury Efini brand, this right-hand drive FD3S was purchased by the seller from its original owner in Japan and was subsequently imported to the U.S. in August of 2020 with no more than 300 miles driven since.  With some tasteful period-style modifications, this very special RX-7 is now being offered for auction out of California with just under 29k kilometers (18k miles) showing on the odometer.

This RX-7 is finished in Chaste White (PT), detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.  The original rear spoiler has been removed, and mounting points remain in place from a previously installed aftermarket wing. The third-generation RX-7’s styling was a stark contrast to its predecessors but kept its signature “pop-up” headlights.  This example has been fitted with an aftermarket front bumper and side rocker panels, and the factory 16" 5-spoke wheels are finished in dark grey and dressed in brand new tires. The seller states that an additional OEM 99'-spec front bumper will also accompany the sale

Inside, the special black cloth interior is said to be in great shape while remaining mostly original with the exceptions of an added MOMO steering wheel, carbon gear shift lever, turbo-timer, and auxiliary gauges on the dashboard.  The Japanese-market Sony radio is nonfunctional, and all other gauges and accessories are said to work properly.

Under the hood, Mazda’s 1.3L twin-turbocharged Wankel rotary engine generates up 236 HP in its stock configuration.  The complex sequential turbocharging system provides a flat torque curve while a 5-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels.  This example has been upgraded with a full Blitz exhaust system, APEXI intake, and an aftermarket blowoff valve. Within the last four months under the current ownership, an oil change was reportedly carried out along with a full inspection and the replacement of the spark plugs.

This sale will include the original Japanese owner’s manual, factory literature, and a clean title As the market for special JDM-imports grows larger than ever, this rare RX-7 Bathurst Edition has become a true collector’s item.

@Lpetross if you know how California is for its grey market cars, then you should know about CARB. I did answer your question initially.

@robfed You have one guy interested in your car enough to ask a question and bid and you chose to be a jerk instead of actually answering the question asked? Ok, interesting strategy.

  • robfed (seller) 3 yearsago

@Lpetross you can absolutely register the car in California. Sounds like you haven't done your research...?

  • Lpetross (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@robfed any reason why the car wasn't registered in California? Anything that'll prevent it from being registered in California?

These are extremely rare and sought after versions of the FD3S, and you don't see them available too often anywhere. GLWTA!
