Available for auction is this 1995 Mercedes-Benz W202 C36 AMG finished in Blue Black Metallic (199) over a Black leather (201) interior. In 1995, Mercedes-Benz launched its first high-performance C-Class model. Based on the C280 sports sedan, the C36 was tuned by AMG and featured a hand-built M104 inline-six cylinder engine, race-tuned suspension, larger brakes, and unique bodywork. Only 5,200 C36 were built over its two-year production run. This C36 is a left-hand-drive Japanese-market example and was imported by the seller in 2020. Having since been serviced with new drive belts, filters, refurbished wood trim, and more, this C36 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey while showing approximately 20k kilometers (13k miles) on the odometer.

This C36 comes finished in Blue Black Metallic (199) and features AMG-specific side skirts, bumpers, and dual-exit exhaust. The seller reports that the roof was refinished in Japan, while the front bumper was refinished more recently in 2021. Equipment includes power-folding side mirrors, headlight wipers and fog lights, clear front turn signal lenses, a power antenna, and a set of 17” AMG Monoblock wheels dressed in Continental ContiSportContact tires from 2021. Clear coat failure and paint chips are visible on the hood, the driver-side mirror seal is missing, and the passenger-side mirror seal shows cracking. A collection of detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX and Japanese CarVX report.

The four-seat cabin is upholstered in Black leather (201) with heated power-adjustable front sport seats. Amenities include wood trim on the dashboard, center console, and door panels, wood and leather trimmed steering wheel, automatic climate control, cruise control, an AM/FM cassette stereo, a power-operated glass sunroof, and an AMG plaque on the center console. The seller notes the wood trim was refurbished in 2021 and there is a crack in the first-aid kit cover as well as some loosening of the headliner material.

Power comes from a hand-built M104 inline six-cylinder engine rated at up 287 HP. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed automatic transmission. The C36 came factory equipped with lowered race-tuned suspension and larger brakes borrowed from the SL600 and E420. In July 2020, a major service was carried out including the replacement of the drive belt, air and fuel filters, shift linkage bushings, spark plugs, brake rotors, pads and sensors. More recently, the battery was replaced in January 2022 with a new Bosch H8 unit.

This sale will include the owner's literature, import documents, and a clean title.

ilh I do not have any info on wire harness replacement, and would not know how to identify if it has been replaced. I would expect given the mileage it should not be an issue, and there are certainly no indications of wire harness failure anywhere on the car. Hope this helps

Hi Roma - I bought the car like this from Japan. There are many reasons as to why there might be so few miles on the car, but generally speaking the high expense related to driving (taxes/tolls/gas prices), along with the extremely efficient public transit system leaves plenty of cars in Japan with low miles throughout their lives. It is not uncommon to see 30 year old cars with under 100k miles. I will say however, this is the lowest KM C36 i've ever seen come out of Japan, or elsewhere, and I do not know of a lower KM C36 available anywhere else. The condition of the car certainly reflects that as well. Hopefully this helped answer your question!

Any comments from the Seller on why this car has only ~800 km/year?
