Often regarded as the purest expression of the final air-cooled 911, the Porsche 993 Carrera RS was originally developed as a homologation special for the Carrera Cup 3.8 RSR race car featuring a 3.8-liter M64/20 flat-six engine rated at 300 HP. It incorporates a stiffened seam-welded bodyshell, front and rear spoilers, 911 Turbo brakes, lowered adjustable suspension, a lightweight interior, a limited-slip differential, and 18” Speedline wheels. Only 1,104 examples were produced between 1995 and 1996 and the model was not offered for sale in the United States, making it one of the rarest and most sought-after Porsches of all time. This 1995 example was originally sold new in Japan through the official Mizwa distributor. It comes finished in Polar Silver Metallic with optional Clubsport spoilers, power windows, power steering, a stereo, airbags, and air conditioning. It was relocated to Europe in 2008 and was recently imported to the United States by the seller. Showing just over 42k kilometers (26k) miles on the odometer, this Carrera RS is now being offered for auction out of Massachusetts.

The Carrera RS uses a factory-modified version of the Carrera 2 bodyshell with extra stiffening, seam welding, spoilers, side skirts, and rolled wheel arches. The car’s weight is minimized with thinner glass windows and the elimination of a factory sunroof, power mirrors, and rear defroster. This example, like most Japanese-spec cars, features the front and rear spoilers from the optional Clubsport Package. It rides on factory 18” Speedline multi-piece wheels with RS-logo center caps. The seller notes that the hood and front bumper have been refinished. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The lightweight interior of the Carrera RS features a pair of fixed-back Recaro bucket seats, lightweight carpeting, and basic door panels with cloth pull straps. Weight is reduced by eliminating rear seats, sound-deadening material, and a central locking system. Featuring black leather upholstery and contrasting grey seat centers, this example is also appointed with optional power windows, air conditioning, airbags, and a Porsche CR-3 AM/FM cassette stereo. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

The Carrera RS features a 3.8-liter M64/20 flat-six engine with lightweight forged pistons, dual oil coolers, VarioCam variable valve timing, a VarioRam intake manifold, and specialized Bosch Motronic engine management. Up to 300 HP and 262 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed G50/31 manual gearbox with a limited-slip differential and RS-specific gear ratios. The Carrera RS shares its fixed 4-piston brakes and 322mm cross-drilled discs with the 911 Turbo and features a lowered sports suspension with Bilstein dampers, adjustable anti-roll bars, and a front strut brace. The car also came standard with ABS-5 and an Automatic Braking Differential (ABD). The seller adds that the car has always been highly maintained including a full service that was performed just before auction. The latest work included changing AC and fan belts, changing all fluids and filters, brake flush, replacing spark plugs, R&R upper and lower valve covers and upper valve cover gaskets, replacing lifters, replacing the brittle engine wire harnesses, and charging the AC. Tires were replaced under prior ownership in 2021.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, all service records from new in a three-ring binder, a car cover, and a clean MA title in the seller's name.

We added photos showing the engine case M64/20 and the engine number as well as the Porsche production sheet showing when the car was built.
With less than 20 hours remaining I hope all bidders bid with confidence! This car has been a well maintained car and lived a pampered life with a 3 ring binder full of receipts to prove it. We further elevated it to our high standards by addressing items most wouldn't think our bother to do.

This is the apogee of the air cooled, non-turbo 911. Love the entire package. I know this seller who is one of the most knowledgeable authorities on rare Porsche and Mercedes. I have a Mercedes 280 SE 3.5 Cab that has been maintained for more than 30 years by Hatch. Opportunity to secure a rare RS with only enormous upside potential. Wish I had room in my garage for this beauty.

@group911 Thanks for the question. Both bumper and hood are original to the car. They were repainted because of rock chips.
The engine and transmission are original to the car. In the undercarriage photos you can see the gearbox type and number. I will try to post a photo of the engine number this weekend

What's the story on the hood and bumper repaint? or replaced?
Engine and trans number and type stamps?

    Hi All,
We've uploaded a cold start video as well as a photo of the drivers door sticker that has a tear in it. We ordered a new one from Porsche and it arrived from Germany yesterday. We posted a photo of each. We will install the new sticker later this week as well as put up some driving videos. Please use the contact seller button if you would like to see anything else.

Thank you for taking the time to view our 993 RS. We feel the 993 RS in Japanese specs ( Doctor's spec in Europe) with the AC, PS, PW and stereo make these car much more usable during the warmer seasons. They feel light and tight as a true air cooled Porsche should while giving creature comforts without sacrificing performance. We have gone through this car and addressed any items that needed sorting. Bid with confidence that the car has been very well maintained its entire life and comes with a service receipt binder with every service receipt while in Japan, Europe and now the USA. We recently did a service on the car and full detail including dry ice blasting the underside to show how clean and original the car is. Thanks again for viewing.

Wow, my Mizwa polar silver 993RS is #779. This one is 781. Two cars later!!! Mine has red door straps and no stereo. Other than that they're almost identical except for mileage (My car is at about 68K KM -40K miles). Great driver cars, super responsive, lightweight, feel fast even by todays standards, high quality build and IMO the #1 N/A 911. Always wanted one and no regrets after taking delivery.
