Now available for auction is this 1995 Porsche 968 Coupe finished in Black over a Cashmere Beige partial leather interior. Among the last of Porsche’s transaxle sports cars, this 1995 example represents one of only 259 North American Coupes built for the 968’s final year of production. This 968 was originally purchased from Thoroughbred Porsche of Nashville, Tennessee factory equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, 17” light alloy wheels, colored Porsche crest center caps, a full power driver's seat, and detachable sunroof. Recent service includes a new valve cover gasket, clutch cylinder reinforcement plate, a power steering refresh, new ignition parts, and more. Now with just over 95k miles showing on the odometer, this rare final-year 968 is being offered for auction by its seller out of Tennessee.

This 968 comes finished in Black and rides on light alloy 17” Cup 2 wheels with optional colored Porsche crest center caps. The CARFAX indicates minor damage to the rear end in 2003, which the seller reports to have been a minor parking lot incident. Paint meter readings are said to measure thicker near the driver-side rear quarter panel, additional images are provided in the gallery along with the full CARFAX report.  The factory optioned wheels come dressed in a set of Toyo Proxes 4S Plus tires dated from 2015.

The Cashmere Beige partial leather interior is contrasted by a black dashboard and floor mats. Factory equipment includes cruise control, a rear window wiper, and a cassette/coin storage tray. The seats have been redyed to address signs of wear, and the original Blaupunkt radio has been replaced with an upgraded Bluetooth unit. The original radio is nonfunctional, however, all other accessories are said to be working properly including the full power driver's seat and air conditioning.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.0L inline four-cylinder engine that sends up to 236 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transaxle. Using this drivetrain, the 968 is capable of accelerating from 0-60 MPH in approximately 6 seconds with a top speed of over 150 MPH. A full service was reportedly carried out at 66k miles including a timing belt replacement, new spark plugs, brakes, a clutch, and flywheel.  More recently in February of 2020 within the last 350 miles, a major service was completed including new engine mounts, distributor cap/rotor, valve cover gasket, power steering reservoir, spark plug tubes, repacked wheel bearings, and new fluids for the brakes, clutch, and power steering.

This sale will include a set of two keys, a wheel lock key, the original owner's manuals, service records, and a clean title. The final evolution of Porsche's transaxle sports car, this 6-speed 968 Coupe is only becoming more sought after and collectible. Do not miss your chance to get behind the wheel and take advantage of an excellent value.

@Nichemotors - great - will look forward to those pics. A couple of other requests. 1) It looks like there is a bit of spidering on the lip of the driver side front wheel well. Could we see some clear shots of that? 2) Can you get a cold start and driving video that shows any warning lights? Overall, the car looks quite sharp and the ownership history is encouraging.

  • Nichemotors (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Hey everyone! Thank you very much for the bids and questions! In our eyes this is a pretty special car. Instead of being bounced around to multiple owners this car only had 2 ( CARFAX denotes 3 due to the owner moving one time ) Between its fully documented ownership and maintenance history back to new and southern owned roots, its a very well kept and cared for 968. We purchased the car directly from our client in Atlanta. He was only selling due to declining health unfortunately. He was 94.

@Pormans-944- Thank you for the question! You are correct. The only timing belt records we have are from 2008. The remaining services including the large refresh last year includes what was listed on the shop receipt.

@SteveinVT - Thank you for asking! We just uploaded clearer pictures of the front and sides, dimming out the ground reflection. It definitely is a reflection on the sides. The front does have some minor road rash. Not at all awful. I would say much less than avergae for age and mileage. Overall paint really shows excellent for age. As well as all exterior rubber ( window sills, windshield, etc ).

  • SteveinVT 2 years, 3 monthsago

Hi- I am interested in bidding, but in some of the photos of the exterior - especially the lower front and sides- it is a bit unclear what is reflection and what might be chips or road rash. Could you possibly post some more clear photos that show these areas better? Thanks.

Seller can you confirm the date when timing belts were last.replaced.? The Listing and CarFax say they were done at 66K miles in 2008. This would mean the Timing Belts are 14 years old and should be replaced every 5 years regardless of millage.
Thanks, nice car these look good in black.
