Up for auction is this 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SX Wide KZJ78 finished in Red and Silver over a beige cloth interior.  Developed exclusively for the Japanese market, this Prado version of Toyota’s rugged Land Cruiser model offers an ideal balance of style and comfort as well as a 3.0 L 1KZ-TE turbo diesel engine.  This right-hand-drive example was recently imported from Japan in October of 2020 and has since undergone a service in preparation for sale.  Said to remain in exceptional condition inside and out, this well preserved and authentic 8-seater Land Cruiser Prado is now being offered for auction by its seller in California while showing just over 232k kilometers (144k miles) on the odometer.

The two-tone Red and Silver finish is said to be in great condition overall, free of any noteworthy imperfections. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.  The Prado features a body-on-frame design and can be distinguished from standard Land Cruisers of the era by its redesigned front grille, bonnet, fenders, and headlamps.  This example also highlights tinted rear windows, ambulance rear doors with a rear-mounted spare and cover, pop-out rear windows, Toyota window rain guards, a fender-mounted mirror, locking gas door, tow hitch, and aluminum running boards.  Other details include a bumper over-ride bar, branded mud flaps, and factory 15” alloy wheels dressed in Bridgestone Dueler A/T tires dated from 2014.

Inside, the beige upholstered interior is said to have been kept in very good condition except for a small tear on the lower portion of the driver’s seat.  The speedometer cable is reported to rattle intermittently, and all other gauges and accessories are stated to be fully functional including the original Toyota radio.  The following equipment is specified from the factory:

  • Bosch Fog Lights
  • Headlight Sprayers
  • Climate Control System With AC
  • Rear Heat with High/Low Function
  • Power Windows, Door Locks, And Mirrors
  • Electronic Lumbar Control / Manual Bolster Adjust-Ability on Driver's Seat
  • Seating for 8
  • 50/50 Split-Folding Middle Seats
  • 50/50 Split-Folding Rear Seats
  • Floor Mats with Land Cruiser Branding
  • Rear Window Defrost

This Land Cruiser is equipped with a hearty 3.0 L 1KZ-TE 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that offers an output of approximately 130 HP and 212 lb.-ft of torque.  All four wheels are driven through a 4-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case.  Other mechanical features include Toyota power locking hubs, solid front and rear axles, power steering, 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes, a 24 gal. fuel tank, and Toyota Electronically Modulated Suspension with “Sport” mode.  A sticker in the engine bay reports a timing belt replacement to have been carried out in Japan at 200k kilometers (125k miles).  Since being imported to the U.S., this example has undergone a fresh oil service along with a fuel and air filter change and the seller confirms this Toyota to be in excellent running order.

This sale will include some records in Japanese, all original import documents needed for U.S. registration (CA excluded), CBP 7501 (stamped by U.S. Customs official), EPA 3520-1, DOT HS-7, a Japanese export certificate, English translation of export certificate, commercial invoice, bill of lading, a notice of arrival, and a bill of sale.  For any enthusiast of rare JDM vehicles, this authentic Land Cruiser Prado is not to be missed. This car is not valid for registration in the state of California.

@christurner.home These do not have an official tow rating from Toyota, but the general consensus is 2500kgs. Shipping to PA would likely be $1200 or so.

Cool vehicle. How much can it tow? And how much to ship to PA?

These turbo diesels will run forever, if you take care of them. Great looking Prado. GLWS.

@drcrasierfrane I am not sure if the Prados were ever sold in Europe - but my business specializes in strictly Japanese imports. A lot of people get hung up on the RHD vs. LHD issue, but it only takes about 10 minutes of driving to become completely comfortable with it.

  • drcrasierfrane 3 years, 2 monthsago

Why are we importing these from Japan? Can't we get these from LHD markets like Europe?

Good morning, and welcome to the auction for my 1995 Land Cruiser Prado. While I am no stranger to specialty car auctions, this is my first time selling on PCARMARKET. Here we have something a little bit different than the usual European fare posted on this site, but I hope as car enthusiasts you will be able to appreciate its uniqueness and originality. Do you really need another Porsche sitting in your garage, or might this compliment your current stable quite nicely?

A few notes. While they are fully federally legal, diesel direct imports are not eligible for registration in the state of California. Any CA buyer will be required to sign a Statement of Facts attesting that the vehicle will be used and registered in another state. As a CA dealer, I am also required to collect CA sales tax IF delivery is taken within CA. If the vehicle is shipped, no CA sales tax.

I will be checking back regularly for any comments/questions and welcome any and all conversation. Thank you for your consideration, and enjoy the auction!
