Developed in collaboration with Formula One racing legend Ayrton Senna, the Acura NSX was assembled by Honda’s most highly skilled technicians at their specialized Takanezawa research and development facility in Tochigi, Japan. It features an ultra-lightweight aluminum monocoque chassis paired with an advanced 3.0-liter VTEC V6 engine revving up to an 8,300-RPM redline. This 1996 example is one of only 66 Acura NSX-Ts to have been equipped with a rare automatic transmission for the model year and comes finished in Berlina black over a tan leather interior. Having been under the care of its fourth owner since 2014, this final-year NA1 is now being offered for auction out of California while showing approximately 77k miles on the odometer.
The NSX features aluminum bodywork with a cab-forward design and distinctive pop-up headlamps, side air intakes, and an integrated rear spoiler. This example is finished in Berlina Black with a matching removable Targa top and rides on aftermarket 18” Racing Hart M5 wheels. The seller notes some minor imperfections on the lower front end and the tires show date codes from 2013. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The tan leather interior includes 4-way power seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, cruise control, power accessories, automatic climate control, and black carpet NSX-branded floor mats. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional, although the original Bose stereo system has developed a humming sound.
This NA1 is equipped with Honda’s C30A 3.0-liter 24-valve V6 engine featuring VTEC variable valve timing, titanium connecting rods, and forged pistons. Up to 270 HP and 210 lb.-ft. of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission. Maintenance under the current ownership is said to have included a fuel injection service and coolant system flush at 44k miles as well as a new timing belt, water pump, cam/crank seals, and tensioners at 63k miles. An oil change was completed more recently at 76k miles along with a transmission fluid exchange.
