Available for auction is this 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera 4S finished in Black. Offering all-wheel-drive, naturally aspirated performance coupled with the wide body styling and large Brembo brakes of the Turbo model, the Carrera 4S remains one of the most sought-after air-cooled cars of all time. This 1996 example was originally delivered to Foreign Cars Europa of North Carolina and came factory optioned with a black full leather interior, supple leather seats, and Litronic headlights. It has also been upgraded with a Bilstein coilover suspension as well as a Fabspeed exhaust system. The car was relocated to Ontario, Canada in 2008 and returned to the United States in 2019. This sought-after 993 C4S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois with approximately 66k miles showing on the odometer.
This Carrera 4S is finished in Black and shares its wide fenders and bumper design with the Turbo model. The seller notes that the front bumper, hood, and fenders have been previously refinished following cosmetic damage caused by the removal of clear paint protection film. A minor imperfection is also noted above the passenger side taillight as well as a ding in the passenger door and some peeling paint on the brake calipers. Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a damage-free CARFAX report. The factory 18” Turbo Design wheels feature optional colored Porsche crested center caps and come dressed in new Continental tires.
Inside, you will find a premium black full leather interior with optional supple leather upholstery on the front and rear seats. The seller notes some minor wear on the driver's seat bolsters and confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional apart from the aftermarket Canadian-spec radio. CARFAX indicates a potential odometer rollback, although this is likely the result of an incorrect mileage conversion performed during the car’s time in Canada. Please reference the report in the photo gallery.
This 993 is equipped with an air-cooled 3.6L flat-six Varioram engine that sends up to 282 HP to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The C4S also shares its “Big Red” Brembo brakes with the Turbo model. This example has been upgraded with a Bilstein coilover suspension, aftermarket sway bars, as well as a Fabspeed exhaust system providing for enhanced power, handling, and sound. There are no service records available at this time, although the seller has recently commissioned a pre-purchase inspection through BTR Chicago which found minor oil seepage from the cam tower gasket as well as contact between the sway bar and control arms. The inspection report is provided for reference in the gallery.
This sale will include a toolkit, spare tire, inspection report, the original window sticker, and a clean title. The 993 generation is increasingly sought after by collectors and driving enthusiasts alike, do not miss your chance to become the next owner of this beautiful black-on-black Carrera 4S.

@Markthom67 I had it in the 108k+ mile range. 70475mi last reported 2013. Discrepancy (27961mi) in 2015. 66061mi currently. Take the 38100mi diff (66061-27961) and add to 70475mi and I think that gets you the closest. Still 2 years unaccounted for between 2013 and 2015, but that will at least give a starting point.

@Charlienz - We acknowledge the mileage cannot be verified on this car. We were forthright with PCARMarket regarding this at the time of submission, and if that was not properly conveyed in the write-up and comments we take ownership. Unfortunately, we do not have full service records and we do not know why there are anomalies in the mileage reporting while the car was in Canada. As you start looking at cars 25+ years in age, sometimes that is the case.
We hope that all auction participants are cognizant of this and the reserve was set at a reasonable level to reflect this fact. We feel this car represents tremendous value for the type of owner who wants to get in and actually drive one of the best looking air cooled 911’s Porsche ever made, but is not seeking to spend $140k for the privilege. There are certainly other widebody 993 options for those individuals seeking a fully documented concourse car. We hope this helps alleviate any potential confusion you may have had. We try to go above and beyond to be as transparent as possible. If you choose to bid good luck, and if not best of luck on your future hunting.

Hopefully the seller is realistic about where the reserve should be set, if he is this a killer deal on a gorgeous car. GLWS
Assuming the odometer was repaired or replaced. Look like correct mileage is somewhere around 83,000.
Hi seller - I’m sorry, but your explanation about the mileage doesn’t add up. The mileage shows a clear history and trend pre-Canada and continues that way until it winds back to 27,000 miles. Feels like you should either own that or the auction should be pulled until it can be cleared up….

@Falky Good Morning to all our PCARMARKET fans on this auction's final day! Hope every one is registered, logged in, and ready to go!
You are very correct about the confusing Carfax!! As indicated on the Carfax, the first owner did move around a bit. The 2nd owner took possession of the car in California. It is to our understanding and what we were told that this is the owner who took the vehicle to Canada with his business. The 3rd owner brought the car back to Chicago, IL.
Autocheck also confirms 3 Owners. No Canadian mileage reporting to help confirm mileage. The mileage honestly cannot be confirmed due to the Carfax. The condition of the vehicle from paint, interior, and mechanical all show as a 66k mile 993 should.
We do our best to have the most transparent auction to show this cars true value and desire. She will make anyone who jumps behind the wheel proud!
That would have made things far too easy! Sadly that must have gotten lost crossing the border back. We do have a receipt from 2020 at Chicago Auto Pros Detailing to remove the PPF which pulled some paint off the front.
Like your car but am confused. We have read your explanations on owners and miles. Appears car has had more owners unless the first owner lived in three states. Then went to Canada and back between the two friends.
When the car went to Canada it stayed in miles into the 70,000 plus range. This mileage is consistent with time and Carfax. However it then converts to kms and drops to 27,000????
It should have gone up to 112,000kms from 70,000 miles and then back to miles when it came back to the US. Appears this car has a lot more mileage. Please explain
Hi, nice car… can you advise if the car has its original books and a full service history confirming the mileage? Many Thanks

@BEason901 If reserve is met and the winning bidder would like to have the alignment and e-brake adjusted we most definitely can address those items. The fuel line can be further secured as well at that time.
The car is lowered on Bilstein Coilovers so it would not be aligned to "factory specs" the e-brake does hold as well, but can be adjusted as desired.
We like to leave these choices up to the future owner in case of any personal preference when it comes to alignments and other minor adjustments.
Bid in the amount of $45,000
From the PPI... Fuel line bent, E-Brake needs adjustment, alignment needed. Any of these items addressed in prep for sale? Thanks in advance for any insight!

@artichoke Hello! Thank you for the great question!
The Carfax is attached in the photos to hopefully give some clarity to the confusion. Due to the age + import to Canada and back Carfax's algorithm is not showing a confirmed owner count.
What we do know per the previous owner and some investigative work via Carfax is that this is a 3 owner vehicle. The 2nd owner purchased it and brought it with him to Canada. The previous owner confirmed with us that he purchased it directly from his friend in Canada and brought the car back.
While it spent time in Canada the mileage reported somehow got messed up and showing "potential odometer rollback" on Carfax. Autocheck does not show anything mileage related and the title is NOT branded as rollback either.
Autocheck also confirms 3 owner count.
It's not uncommon for these registration renewals to get the mileage messed up from KM to Mi on reportings and so on.
Good Morning and welcome to our newest offering on PCAR Market!! It goes without saying that the widebody 993 is the pinnacle of classic 911. The looks, drive, and emotional attachment one gets every time you walk past is an unforgettable moment.

We'll be here answering any and all questions thrown at us through out the auction. Happy Bidding!
