Now available for auction is this 1997 Porsche 993 Turbo finished in Black over a black full leather interior.  The final iteration of the air-cooled Porsche 911 Turbo, this 993 came factory optioned with the Exclusive Aluminum/Chrome Package, supple leather seats, deletion of the rear window wiper, and carbon-fiber trim for the shifter and handbrake lever.  The car has also been lowered to European ride height and equipped with a Moton adjustable coilover suspension, Fabspeed exhaust, a Brembo big brake kit, RUF wheels, an upgraded intercooler, integrated radar detector, and a custom sound system with Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay.  This 993 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with just over 25k miles showing on the odometer.

This 993 comes finished in nonmetallic Black (L741) with a factory rear window wiper delete.  Within the last year, the car has been completely wrapped in Xpel paint protection film.  Compared to a standard 993 Carrera, the Turbo features wider bodywork, broader rocker panels, a color-matched rear spoiler, and a revised front fascia with three lower air inlets.  Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  To clear the massive Brembo brakes, this Turbo has been fitted with a set of 19” RUF aluminum wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires.  The original 18” Turbo wheels are said to accompany the sale, although they will not fit over the upgraded brakes.

Inside, this Turbo is appointed with black full leather upholstery including optional supple leather seats. Factory Exclusive options include a shifter and brake handle trimmed in carbon fiber and aluminum, footwell lighting, and the Aluminum/Chrome Package which adds stainless steel door entry guards with model logos and aluminum-look instrument dials.  Additional equipment includes power seats with adjustable driver-side lumbar support, an onboard computer, Litronic bi-xenon headlights, a sunroof, and cruise control.  An upgraded vintage-style Blaupunkt radio has been installed which has been retrofitted with a Bluetooth receiver and Apple CarPlay.  A JL Audio amplifier is mounted in the trunk and a radar detector system has been installed with a display integrated into the rearview mirror.  Some signs of wear are present on the driver seat and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.6L twin-turbocharged flat-six engine rated at 408 HP and 398 lb.-ft of torque stock.  All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission with Active Brake Differential (ABD) and a limited-slip differential equipped as standard.  Performance upgrades include a Fabspeed exhaust system, a Moton adjustable coilover suspension with remote reservoirs, a TechArt front strut brace, a larger intercooler, and Brembo GT-R big brake kit with full-floating rotors.  A standard service is said to have been recently carried out and CARFAX shows a wheel alignment to have been completed by Graham Rahal Performance in October of 2020.  This vehicle also passed a California emissions inspection in September of 2021.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals and a clean title (lien). A nicely optioned 993 Turbo with high-end upgrades, this low-mileage 1997 example is not to be overlooked.

@BenE *last 750 miles under my ownership

  • BenE 2 years, 5 monthsago

@DAC1000 There were zero lights the last 750 miles. Started up perfectly and pulled hard when Turbo's kicked in. Early in my ownership, it took a few trips to the shop to nail those last little things with the busted sensor. We just missed that the alarms were the malfunction of the sensors themselves, vs something else. Which made sense because the car really drove just fine.

@Rhmd1 the title is with amazon leasing here in ca. they will release it as soon as a deal is struck. Clean title and the car has passed ca smog as well

  • BenE 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Rhmd1 There was no lien when I owned it.

  • Rhmd1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

    Dear Seller
Can yo please comment on the "Lien" listed throughout its Carfax History? It seems that the "Lien" has been following the car at each sale and has not come off. If there is a current "lien" or an ongoing "lien" the place clarify.
    Thank you!

  • DAC1000 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Just to clarify, all warning lights clear after start?
    Thanks

  • RRM26 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@BenE thanks for the super informative comment. The car was sold by graham Rahal performance (who BeNE sold it to) to our client some months ago. Our buyer couldn’t smog it because his local smog shop could not get it in ad they were backed up so he sent us the car to smog then decided to sell it. Its barely been touched since he purchased it, and has been in our warehouse ever since. So its as clean as when the prior owner sold it.

@sportscarguy3 I hear you. The funny part for me is that this was my 993TT. I owned it from July 2020 to June 2021. The carfax ownership dates are a bit off because there were some issues getting the title.

As you can see from the carfax, the previous owner barely drove it. He put 1K miles on it in the 13 years prior to my purchase. The guy that I bought it from in Telluride had sold it to the previous owner so there was a long, known history. Albeit, not a ton of it in writing. I had a very detailed, professional inspection and none of the issues discovered were out of character for a 993TT with little to no use in over a decade.

I fixed everything that the inspection found but It still took about a month and 250 miles to get it running without the service engine light coming on. It ended up being a loose hose under the manifold and a broken air mass sensor. It also had a small oil leak (Which was a big problem because it lived on a lift above a GT2RS), replacing the oil reservoir solved that one. Soon after, it was running perfectly. Drove it about another 750 miles without a hiccup. Never an issue. The turbos were serviced by RUF late in the previous owner's possession as well. The steering wheel is new, I replaced that. The original one was carbon...and it was cracking from age...and the leather steering wheel is so much better, IMO. I put the blaupunkt in also.

I spent $10,800 on the paint correction, PPF and ceramic coating in December of 2020. The paint is original and I did have a paint meter done before I bought it. I then had a custom car cover made that I assume is still with the car. I was there in person when we did the paint meter, I wish I had taken pictures bc a paint meter won't tell you anything now (due to PPF and ceramic coating). In my opinion, you HAVE to do a full PPF on 993's if you have any plans of driving it..especially the black ones. The 993 paint is sooo fragile. This one looks about as close to new as possible (at least it did when I sold it), in my opinion. And you can drive it to the store and not worry about someone bumping into it bc of the PPF.

I regret selling this one. Everything I did was with the intention of never selling it. I sold it because I have a 911 restoration (of sorts) project in the same general Porsche era and I simply don't have the space for everything I want. Although who knows...I might buy this one back....we'll see how I feel tomorrow....I've got a history of spontaneous car purchases....haha

Best of luck with the auction.
