Now up for auction is this 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Black over a Black premium leather interior.  Powered by a 3.6 L flat-six engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, this 993 represents the final iteration the air-cooled Porsche 911.  Currently registered in Canada, this U.S. spec 1996 example resides with its seller in Arizona while displaying just over 40k documented miles on the odometer.  Remaining in excellent highly original condition and accompanied by a clean Carfax report, this Cabriolet is just waiting to be enjoyed by its next caretaker.

The Black finish on the 993 is reported to be in very nice condition with clear paint protective film applied over the front bumper.  Some older paint protective film was also recently removed from the hood and front fenders.  The seller indicates that the front hood has been refinished for cosmetic purposes, although the rest of the paint on the car is noted to be original (detailed images and paint meter readings are provided in the photo gallery).  A brand new Cabriolet top was recently installed and the factory Cup 2 wheels were dressed in new BF Goodrich tires within the last 3k miles.

Inside, this 993 is configured with a Black premium leather interior featuring climate control, power windows and power mirrors.  Brand-new Lloyds floormats are installed along with an aftermarket head unit, however, the original Porsche radio will also be included with the sale.  The cabin is stated to be in great shape with all gauges and accessories working properly, and the seller notes that the ECU had been sent out for an immobilizer delete under previous ownership.

An air cooled 3.6 L flat-six engine sends 282 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission.  This 993 remains mechanically stock with some noteworthy service items carried out over the past 3 years including:

  • All New Seals
  • New Spark Plugs
  • New Engine Belts
  • Replaced Idle Control Valves
  • New O2 Sensors
  • New Brake Pads and Rotors
  • New Battery

Service records are available form the most recent ownership and this 993 is reported to be in excellent driving condition.

This sale will be accompanied by a set of 3 keys, original books and tools, an air compressor, a clean title and clean Carfax report.  The seller has also offered to facilitate the re-titling of this car should the next owner choose to register it in the United States.  If you have been in search of a well-maintained air cooled Cabriolet, this outstanding 1996 example may just be the one.

@JACS911 no I don't. The car was only in AZ for 2 years. East Coast and Canada most of it's life. Interior is good condition for a cabriolet. All black leather interiors photo better after a quick wipe down. Interior is not going to change much from this if you keep it wiped down as good measure with leather conditioner. We do not use "Armorall"

  • JACS911 3 years, 6 monthsago

The car looks good but I note that the interior/seats/leather are quite shiny. (Armour All or other product?) Since AZ is renowned to be hot and sunny I'm wondering if anything is disguising any sun fading/cracks or scratches of the interior? Do you have photos of the interior before if this was applied? thanks

  • canyonclassics (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@JACS911 you are correct. To transfer to a US citizen I will have to initiate an import process to title it back to my deakership then transfer it to a us buyer. Not sure if it's a few week process or what but will work through either scenario with US or Canadian buyer. So there might be a slight delay for US buyer.

  • JACS911 3 years, 6 monthsago

@leeber Since the car is now technically a Canadian car (ie. registered in Canada) I would think you'd have to 'import' the car back into the USA, even though it happens to be sitting in AZ. I'm not sure of the procedures to do so...?

  • leeber (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

now im confused. if car is located in arizona, and i live in the usa, can i buy the car in this auction and drive it home from arizona with ease, or are there extra steps?

  • canyonclassics (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@JACS911 yes you are correct. I don't think it would have to go back through Manitoba. Not 100% sure the procedure to sell to another Canadian resident but it can't be very complicated.

  • JACS911 3 years, 6 monthsago

Hi - Please confirm : the car is in AZ but still plated/registered in Manitoba, Canada? If the car is brought back into Canada, can it be shipped directly to the buyers address rather than physically back through Manitoba? Thanks

@joebatters the math works out to just under 1750mi a year but yes still very low. Thanks for the compliment.

  • joebatters (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

Beautiful car ... 222 miles per year over 18 years is incredible.

  • canyonclassics (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@porsche_dreamer no idea I assume rock chip damage. Pretty common on 24yo cars to see hood re-sprayed. Was done prior to current ownership so can't help you without a crystal ball. Not sure why you need it added to the auction I just gave you my word I can help facilitate it getting back into Manitoba then on to you. Of course fully at your cost but there should be no taxes crossing back in. Just your cost for transport.

  • porsche_dreamer (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@canyonclassics That's great to hear. Would you be willing to put in the description that delivery can occur in Canada?

Also, can you pls shed a light on what happened to the hood?

    Thanks.

  • canyonclassics (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@porsche_dreamer Yes I would absolutely prefer to ship this back up across the border to sell to a Canadian buyer. Much less work for me. Can be facilitated through the current owner in Manitoba. Good Luck With The Auction!

Hi, I am assuming the answer is no but thought I would ask anyway - are you open to delivering this car in Canada? It seems like you have previously paid duty/GST on this car.
