Now available for auction is this 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera 4 finished in Aventurine Green Metallic over a Chestnut Brown interior.  With the goal of creating a lightweight driver-focused RS-style version of the Carrera 4, this U.S. market 1996 example has undergone a long list of performance upgrades and customizations in the last year including a full RS-style interior, Bilstein coilovers, an RS adjustable rear sway bar, Wevo RS engine mounts, Fister Stage 3 mufflers, a steel-base Ducktail rear spoiler, and the removal of nonessential accessories.  With no expense spared on high-end modifications, this lightweight RS-Style 993 Carrera 4 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada while showing approximately 96k miles on the odometer*.

This Carrera 4 is finished in Aventurine Green Metallic, a classic shade that has been recently reinstated as an option for the new 992 generation.  Clear paint protection film covers the leading edge of the front end and the seller notes only minimal signs of road-going wear, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a damage-free CARFAX report. A Stratton steel-base Ducktail rear spoiler was added, and the front bumper was refinished in March of 2020 following the deletion of the bumperettes.  New OEM Euro turn signals have been added along with new OEM front fog light lenses.  LED headlight bulbs have been retrofitted into the original projectors and the headlight lenses were newly replaced.  The brake calipers have been custom painted in Arena Red Metallic and the original 17” Cup 2 wheels have been refinished and paired with new “Carrera 4” logo center caps.  These wheels come dressed in new Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 tires (225/45R17 and 255/40R17) that were mounted in November of 2020 along with an RS-spec wheel alignment.

The Chestnut Brown interior underwent a full RS-style transformation with a new RS lower dash assembly, RS door panels, a radio delete, and a three-spoke RS steering wheel.  RS front trunk carpeting was also installed along with RS custom rear carpet pieces made by Classic 9.  Other additions include a manual window conversion, RS windshield washer bottle, and an RS kill switch.  Many accessories have been removed for weight savings including the overhead third brake light, headlight washers, radio, speakers, air conditioning system, rear blower assembly (RS bypass tube), rear defroster, and cruise control.  A Bluetooth speaker has been added and the original speaker connections remain intact behind the door panels.  All of the original air conditioning components are said to accompany the sale along with the rear defroster switch.  *The odometer currently reads just over 96k miles and CARFAX indicates a potential mileage discrepancy, although this is likely the result of an error made during miles to kilometers conversions in Canada.

The air-cooled 3.6L flat-six Varioram engine sends up to 282HP to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.  Upgraded Fister D Stage 3 mufflers have been equipped along with a Rothsport single-pulley conversion, Wevo RS engine mounts, a Rothsport steering rack brace w/ stiffer bushings, an RS Clubsport/GT2 front strut brace, an RS adjustable rear sway bar, and H&R RS monotube coilovers with Bilstein struts.  New ignition components are said to have been installed at 71k miles along with a new fuel filter, and the seller notes that both front sway bar link boots are torn.  A list of maintenance items carried out within the last year is provided below:

  • Transmission fluid flush (Redline MT90 gl4)
  • Engine oil/filter change (Penngrade 20W50, original Porsche filters)
  • New lower valve cover gaskets, covers, and hardware
  • New AGM Battery
  • Replaced oil cooler with a refurbished and ultrasonic-cleaned unit
  • New rear wiper arm and blade
  • Brake fluid flush

This sale will include owner's manuals and a clean title. For any air-cooled driving enthusiast, this lightweight RS-inspired 993 Carrera 4 offers an experience that is not to be missed.

@porsche_dreamer sorry if it came out harsh didn’t mean to offend you. Good luck in your search for a 993.

@Jarod964 Not sure if you are referring to me, but I was not complaining about the miles. I questioned the seller's interpretation of the CarFax when he said that the 94041 was in KMs (AND he was [smh]). That is obviously a wrong answer (and I already said a few days exactly the same thing as you just said). However, the seller seemed quite adamant 94041 was kms but that is not the "better view" of the mileage. Of all people and not to be unduly harsh, we would expect the seller to know the car's history better than registered bidders even though the "94041" reading was not under his ownership.

I just want to say that I had the opportunity to drive this vehicle. In my opinion it is extremely clean, it's optioned well, and drives very well even given the age. The owner(s) have taken very good care of this vehicle. Good luck everyone!

    Beautiful example.
Chestnut interiors are my all time favorite and they match gorgeously with the green.
Also the mods are tasteful especially on interiors.
Car is known in our group.
    Ciao!

Quacks like an RS, but is not an RS... regardless this is a great looking car and presentation. Hopefully when the hammer comes down it will it be more affordable than a RS!?! Mileage explanation makes sense to me, but $80k even in USD yowsa.

  • Jarod964 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

For those complaining about the odometer discrepancies on the carfax, you need to look more closely at the comment section of each mileage log. Its very obvious the shop was submitting mileages in km, when it should have been in miles - carfax automatically converts their KM reading to the equivalent miles. Convert the miles note to km and you will see its perfect...84k, 90k, 93k, 94k, 96k, etc.

This car is gorgeous! Aventurine is one of my all time favorite Porsche colors. Love the RS style accents. The modifications make the car look a lot better than a stock C4 in my opinion. Surely it drives better too. Probably will sell for higher than I can afford in this nutty market, though. Beautiful car, seller!

  • Porsche964993 (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@lekrz thanks for the sweet comments. Its a carrera 4 by the way and not a widebody .

  • lekrz (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

RS wasn't offered in the U.S. market. I can understand anyone wanting to create there own version of RS model. I just can't understand starting with a wide body four wheel drive to create a RS looking version. RS would have a two wheel drive narrow body, no bumper pads, front or rear, no headlight washers, no sunroof, speedline rims, not cup. Along with a host of other RS refinements. This isn't close to RS style.

@Aloysius3 most US cars coming into canada has issues with mileage because of mistakes from canadian DMV’s.

  • Aloysius3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

mileage story seems odd and suspicious, yes?

  • Porsche964993 (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@porsche_dreamer most likely a mistake somewhere along the way this car doesn’t even look like it has 96k miles .

  • porsche_dreamer (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@Porsche964993 You don't need to repeat your answer because I fully understood what you said.

This car's carfax showed that the mileage was up to the 75k+ miles in 2006, and that ought to have been in miles since this started as a US car. How would a car go from 75+ miles in 2006 to 94k km in 2016?

The only way this would make sense is if the numbers in the notes section from 2010 were all in miles, so we were looking at 80k+ miles and 90k+ miles along the way post-2010.

@Porsche964993 Your response doesn’t make sense. You mean it was supposed to be 94041 miles but someone put 94041 kms? You have it backwards.

  • Porsche964993 (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@KCnSF Hi its suspose to be 58434.36 miles but they made a mistake and put down 94041 miles it was suspose to be Kilometres. They always make those mistake in canada “smh”

  • KCnSF (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Seller, any idea how/why 36k miles were accumulated in 2016? Someone had a fun year of driving.
