Finished in Guards Red over a Black leather interior, this 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe was acquired by its original owner at the Porsche factory in Stuttgart through Porsche’s Factory Delivery Program. It was configured at an original cost of 245,000 DM which included 14,000 DM for the rare X50 Turbo Powerkit providing an enhanced engine output of 430 HP, on par with the exclusive Turbo S variant. In the summer of 1999, the vehicle was traded into Porsche Zentrum Siegen for a new GT3. The current owner purchased the car as a certified pre-owned vehicle in late 1999 and returned to Barcelona, Spain, where he was living at the time. The owner enjoyed driving the car in Spain and Germany before returning to Ohio and legally importing the car to the U.S. in late 2001. It has remained part of the owner’s Porsche collection ever since, having covered just over 20k miles in the last 25 years. This rare X50-equipped 993 Turbo benefits from over $50k in recent refurbishment/service and is now being offered for auction with approximately 70,500 miles showing on the odometer.

The 993 Turbo features wider bodywork than a contemporary Carrera along with unique bumpers and a large body-colored rear spoiler. The seller indicates the car was completely refinished in its original Guards Red color in preparation for the sale using factory-spec Glasurit single-stage paint. The work was performed at a cost of $30k by Chris Moore at Autobahn Extremist of Brooklyn Height, Ohio, an air-cooled Porsche restorationist with over 40 years’ experience. Equipment includes European-market lighting with clear side indicators, Litronic xenon headlamps with washer jets, integrated fog lights, a rear window wiper, dual exhaust outlets, red brake calipers, an optional rear model designation delete, and 18” Technology hollow-spoke wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The car rides on new Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Black leather upholstery including heated and power-operated supple leather seats. Other factory features include automatic climate control, cruise control, Porsche-branded floor mats, a CD storage console, a Porsche CDR-21 stereo, Nokia Digital Sound Processing (DSP), and an integrated Nokia cellular phone. The dashboard, instrument cluster, and door panels have been adorned with exclusive carbon fiber trim pieces along with the shift knob, steering wheel, handbrake, and center console tray.

This 993 is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six engine that sends power to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The optional X50 Powerkit includes K22 turbochargers, revised ECU tuning, and an additional oil cooler to produce up to 430 HP, a 30 HP increase over the standard 993 Turbo. The seller notes that extensive service records are available dating back to 1999 including the original maintenance book with a 100k-kilometer service performed at the Porsche Werks One department in 2000. Other records show service performed by an air-cooled Porsche specialist in Ohio from 2002 to 2021.

This sale will include two keys, full European safety equipment, a jack, a toolkit, an air compressor, an unused spare tire, a full set of owner’s manuals (German and English), a Porsche build sheet, and a Porsche Production Specifications Certificate.

The seller would like you to know: “I’m honored to offer on consignment from the owner of 25 years, this highly optioned, German Delivery, 1996 911 993 Turbo Coupe with rare X50 Power Kit. This is a very special 993 Turbo that is fully sorted with excellent provenance.”

@Tugboat997 Thank you for your interest. The color of the wheels has been refinished to the original Porsche Silver used when new. I don't think it's different from any other 993. It's been a long time since I've seen a Turbo S in person so I can't comment on the difference between S and non S.

  • tuto13 1 week, 3 daysago

    @FawsittMotors that makes sense. It’s a beautiful car…

  • FawsittMotors (seller) 1 week, 4 daysago

@tuto13 Thanks for your interest. I'm sure the front bumper was modified with the addition of US lights and Bumperettes to comply with US DOT Standards. If you review pictures 144-147, these were taken in Europe prior to the car being imported to the US and show the original ROW Bumper Specification.

@LJB790 Thank you for your interest. There are pictures of the detailed invoice of the work completed late last year by Autobahn Extremist, Brooklyn Heights, OH. They have been in business for 30 years and continue to be. You're welcome to give them a call if you'd like to discuss the vehicle. The owner Chris Moore is aware of the auction and expecting to field inquiries on the vehicle. Please take the time to review their invoice it provides lots of detail.

    In answer to your questions:

Was the body stripped down to bare metal or merely sanded and primed prior to topcoat?

The body was not stripped to bare metal except in the area where the rust repair was required at the corner of the rear window (common in these cars). It was sanded to primer and refinished with the original factory single stage Glasurit paint system which requires several color coats. You can view paint meter readings in the picture gallery. This was not a cheap paint job, a lot of care, disassembly and time went into the process which took several months to complete.

    Any suspension Update ?

One front strut was repaired, there is also paperwork to indicate that all the struts were replaced in Germany prior to delivery to the present owner.

What is the date code on the tires?

They were replaced as part of the refurbishment late last year, (see invoice) the date codes are from late 2022 they have less than 200 miles wear.

Has the AC Evaporator been replaced?

Not as part of the recent work. However it may have been in the past, there are extensive service records going back 25 years.

Any Work done to the drive block system electronics?

No. No issues were noted and would have been repaired if they had.

Was the clutch slave and clutch replaced as part of the restoration?

No. The owner of the car, me and the owner of the shop who worked on the car deemed it in very good condition based on extensive test drives prior to work beginning.

  • tuto13 1 week, 4 daysago

The front bumper does not match the rear. Seems to have kept the rear European spec bumper but the front is not. Is there a reason for this? Thank you.

  • LJB790 (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

I'm curious about the respray process, was the body stripped down to bare metal or merely sanded and primed prior to top coat? Any suspension Update ? What is the date code on the tires? Has the AC Evaporator been replaced ? Any Work done to the drive block system electronics ? Was the clutch slave and clutch replaced as part of the restoration? Is the restoration shop still in business ?

  • Tugboat997 (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

Are the wheels finished in the Turbo S color or the standard 993 turbo color? Hard to tell from the pictures. Awesome looking car.

Here I go again on my own, Going down the only road I’ve ever known. Y'all know the rest of the lyrics. Just know the song is much better when listening to it in a 993 Turbo

Thank you for taking the time to view our auction of this incredible machine. I'll be here throughout the auction process in collaboration with the owner to provide additional information and answer any questions that may come up. That's me driving the car in video below and I can assure you it performs as well as it looks.
