Now available for auction is this 1997 BMW 540i presented in Aspen Silver over a Black and Aubergine leather interior. Originally sold new at John Ladd BMW in Canada, this 1997 example is said to have always been garage-kept and dealer maintained up until the current owner’s recent purchase in 2019. Highlighting some noteworthy recent service items and a stock 4.4 L DOHC V8 engine, this 540i is being offered in excellent overall condition by its seller in Canada while showing just over 69k kilometers (42,800 miles) shown on the odometer.
Stated to have been garage kept and carefully driven from new, the Aspen Silver finish on this BMW is said to be in excellent condition with only minor stone chips and a very small scratch indicated near the left rear wheel arch (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). Carfax shows some cosmetic damage to the rear of the car which resulted in the trunk lid being professionally refinished at a cost of approximately $5k. A small repair claim was also issued on the right front fender and the seller confirms that there is no persisting damage. This 540i remains stock in its appearance with factory aluminum wheels dressed in newer Michelin Pilot MX all season tires. These wheels are noted to be in fantastic shape, although one small blemish has been indicated on the right front wheel.
Inside, the cabin is upholstered in two-tone Black and Aubergine leather. Factory options configured for this example include heated seats and steering wheel, air conditioning, a sunroof and an AM/FM/CD cassette stereo. The trunk release button actuator was replaced in 2016 at a cost of approximately $1k and the seller notes that the digital radio display was also recently replaced with an OEM component. All gauges and accessories are stated to be fully functional.
This 540i boasts a 4.4 L DOHC V8 engine which sends 282 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission. Recent service items completed under the current ownership include the installation of a new radiator and coolant hoses, a new battery and new catalytic converters. This BMW is said to have always been dealer maintained up until the seller’s recent purchase with all routine service kept up to date.
