The flagship V8 Ferrari sports car of the 1990s, the F355 features distinctive Pininfarina-designed bodywork over a steel monocoque frame with a mid-mounted 3.5-liter engine producing 375 HP. This 1997 example is finished in Rosso Corsa over beige Connolly leather upholstery and is one of 2,664 Spider versions to have come equipped with a traditional gated 6-speed manual transmission in total. It was acquired by the selling dealer from its third owner of 9 years and benefits from service records dating back nearly two decades. Showing just over 16k miles on the odometer, this F355 Spider is now being offered for auction out of Texas.

The F355 Spider’s bodywork was designed by Pininfarina with 1,800 hours of wind tunnel development for optimal aerodynamics. Details include prominent side air intakes, pop-up headlamps, a vented engine cover, an integrated rear spoiler, four circular taillights, and dual double-tipped exhaust outlets. This example is finished in Rosso Corsa with a black power convertible top. It rides on factory 18” five-spoke magnesium wheels dressed in Michelin tires from 2011. The seller notes the front bumper has been refinished to address road-going wear and some minor stone chips are present throughout the exterior. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this F355 features beige Connolly leather upholstery and matching carpets with a contrasting black leather dashboard, upper door panels, and steering wheel. Accessories include a gated shifter with a polished aluminum gear knob, power windows and mirrors, drilled aluminum pedals, automatic climate control, and an aftermarket Sony AM/FM/CD cassette stereo. All gauges and accessories are reportedly fully functional, and the seller states the power convertible top cylinders were recently repaired.

The F355 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V8 with 5 valves per cylinder, titanium connecting rods, and dry-sump lubrication. Up to 375 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels by a 6-speed gated manual gearbox and limited-slip differential, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 183 MPH. Vented disc brakes and black Ferrari-branded brake calipers are equipped at all four corners. The independent suspension incorporates unequal-length wishbones, coil springs, anti-roll bars, and electronically adjustable dampers with Comfort and Sport settings. The seller indicates a major service was completed at Norwood Auto Italia of Dallas in 2019 at 16,050 miles and additional maintenance records are available dating back to 2004.

This sale will include documentation, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, and a clean title.

Looks like an honest car. Though there are some big spans of time where it has sat recently. At least it doesn't look like the odometer has been unhooked. Looking back at it, the 355 was maybe my favorite Ferrari that I owned. It felt smaller and tighter than the later models. Kind of like going from a 997 Porsche to a 991.

Low on torque though. You have to keep the revs up. IMHO. Nice car. I'd like to get another one.

The Ferrari starts and runs great.
We had the convertible top cylinders rebuilt and the system bleed.

  • Lambogas (seller) 3 months, 3 weeksago

Paint meter reading has been posted.
Our staff has not returned from the holiday due them getting sick.
I am am the only one here and the Ferrari has been stored on a four post lift, went to start it and the battery has failed, waiting on delivery for a replacement. Once I have a battery, will be able to start the car for a cold start and top operation video.

Am I missing something in this listing? No driving video, no paint readings, no good suspension videos/pictures. Looks like a really nice car but seller needs to provide more info to have any confidence to bid on this car. He will leave money on the table for poor presentation. I would like to bid but will hold out for a car I have more confidence in. Good luck.

Seller - Are the service records and additional photos forthcoming before auction end tomorrow?

On the issue of belt timing -- there are many different opinions out there but I've not seen 7 years or more as a "mainstream" viewpoint. Undoubtedly 7 years can be done, likely more, but then again, why would you risk it when the cost of repairing a catastrophic failure would be obscene? That issue aside, I agree on the point that cars like to be driven and any car that has had few miles on it, and it largely sits around, will have various bits deteriorate even under ideal conditions.

  • Valor1 (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

@Whatever123 as a rule of thumb you can go by the 7 year mark for a belt service. So if last changed in 2019 you would be good until at least 2026. I say at least as a number of people go by 8 year intervals. That said, I've seen cars without belt failures and with 20 year old belts! I don't recommend it but would say you are fine at 7 years at the very least. All cars not just Ferraris like to be driven. But a properly cared for car should not have many gremlins and it will have low miles and I'll take low miles in a good car anyday.....that way you can put lots of miles on the car and still be okay miles-wise.

  • Lambogas (seller) 3 months, 4 weeksago

@burtsbee... Paint sticker is that way when we bought it. To the best of our knowledge it came from the Factory that way.

I've never seen an original paint sticker that looks like that. Any explanation as to why the text looks butchered?

  • Lambogas (seller) 4 monthsago

@LBinVA.. Service records have been sent to PCar for posting.
Photos of books uploaded and underside photos in the AM

We are pulling all the records for the Ferrari.
Previous owner was an elderly gentleman who had a collection of great cars.
At his age he was unable to drive them, he did keep them maintained at a Norwood Auto Italia in Dallas, Tx.

  • Whatever123 (registered bidder) 4 monthsago

@LBinVA Hello, I'm new to Ferrari's, apparently you are not. Is the timing belt like tires now? It's all time related? So even if done in 2019, you believe it should still be engine out, done again? My question down below was it appears the 4th owner didn't drive the car for almost 10 years, how does that bode for Ferrari's? I know with Porsches, it's not a good thing. If you could answer my questions, I'd appreciate it, it doesn't appear that the seller is around.

  • jbauto (registered bidder) 4 monthsago

I guaranty the 2019 timing belts still look like new. Replace the tires if you want and drive it. I've never seen a V, Z or W speed rated tire blow out unless they're bald. They're made very strong. They just get a little harder and don't stick well when they get older.

  • LBinVA (registered bidder) 4 monthsago

Seller - so we have a very attractive car with 12+ year old tires, in need of an engine out belt service based on years, and very few miles put on the vehicle for the past 9 years. Could you please post a code start up and driving video, and also post any service records from about 2015 to present? And underbody photos, ideally with the car on a lift? Could you also advise whether this has the stock headers and exhaust? A highly reputable shop did the 2019 engine out service -- would be really nice to see any recent service records or inspections that they did.

I'll be looking to seriously bid on this, but to get the real money on this vehicle I think at a minimum the above info will be needed. Thanks

Am I understanding this correctly that 4th owner from 2013 to 2023 only drove car a couple of hundred miles? I admit, car faxes don't always come easy to me. Thank you
