Now up for auction is this 1997 Mercedes-Benz SL500 presented in Imperial Red over a Beige leather interior. Equipped with a very rare removable panoramic hardtop as well as a powerful 5.0 L V8 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission, this SL offers unbeatable drivability and value. Stated to have been garage-kept and properly maintained by its current owner over the past 7 years, this luxurious SL-class Mercedes-Benz is now being offered in excellent driving condition out of South Carolina, complete with brand-new tires and brakes.
The Imperial Red finish on this SL is reported to be in great shape, although some of the clear coat is noted to be worn away on the front bumper (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). The seller also states that the right rear fender was professionally refinished to address a cosmetic imperfection . This R129 Mercedes features twin side fender vents, body colored moldings and factory aluminum alloy wheels which come dressed in brand-new Cooper tires installed within the last 1k miles. Noteworthy equipment includes a black convertible soft top as well as a rare removable panoramic glass hardtop.
Inside, the Beige leather interior is said to be in very good condition with a recently replaced OEM Mercedes head unit. The seller indicates that the passenger seatbelt and windshield wiper motor were also replaced under their ownership. It is discolored but I don’t know why. I married my wife this year in February and I don’t know the car beyond then. We both lost our spouses to hideous diseases and then found each other for a second chance. .I thought of buying a beige spray-on fabric paint which would color it all the same but I decided to leave it as is as that is the only issue with the interior. There is a small spot in the floor of the trunk also. A fabric spray would solve the issue on the doors - almost any fabric spray in a light beige sprayed on both door panels.

I received the 2 videos, top up, top down but they are very low res. The service center tried 3 times to send high res but whatever method they were using cut the res way down. I can post the low res videos if you must see them.
The top up and down videos are being posted. All hydraulics are working properly and not leaking. The videos are low res but they prove the point.
The front two hardtop/soft top hydraulic cylinders have been replaced and the top is working beautifully. Will post video of soft top up and down.

@gatorboY There is no normal headliner. There is a screen that can be pulled forward that latches above the windshield but the top is heavily factory tinted and we never use the screen. It takes two strong people to get the hardtop off so I will have to get one of my friends to help so I can show you that the soft top works perfectly. I will try on Thursday as I am quite busy tomorrow.
