Up for auction is this unique 1997 993 Carrera 4S with a factory Turbo II Aerokit.  One of only 627 examples built in 1997, this C4S is finished in the rare color combination of Arena Red over a Cashmere Beige leather interior.  Sparingly driven throughout its life, this example only shows 31k miles on the odometer and is now being offered by its seller in Bedminster, NJ.

The Arena Red finish on this Carrera 4S is stated to be in excellent condition.  The Carfax report does show a minor accident reported.  The seller states that a professional refinishing of the front bumper and right front fender were carried out by a Certified Porsche dealership to factory standards.  Detailed images of the exterior are provided in the photo gallery.  Exterior features include a factory Turbo II Aerokit and original 18” Turbo Twist alloy wheels which come wrapped in Continental tires.  This is a truly well-presented example.

The Cashmere Beige leather interior features factory options such as a power seat package, stereo system w/ CD player, and floor mats finished in Cashmere Beige as well as an additional pair of unique Coco mats.  As indicated by the seller, this interior remains in excellent condition with all electronics, gauges, and accessories fully functional.

This 993 C4S is powered by its original 3.6L flat-six engine that puts out over 282 HP to all four wheels by way of a crisp 6-speed manual transmission.  The seller has indicated that this car runs beautifully with a recent service/inspection that included all new fluids and filters.  The seller notes that service records are present since the day this car was purchased new from the dealership.  Offered with a clean bill of health, this 993 is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

Sharing the increased wheelbase and proportions of the Turbo while doling out immediate naturally aspirated power, the 993 Carrera 4S remains one of the most desirable air-cooled 911’s to date.

Included in the sale of this exquisite 1997 Carrera 4S will be all original books and documentation, two sets of keys, a certificate of authenticity, maintenance records since new, a Carfax report, and a clear title.

@DoveMtnMotors Robert718 Is 100% correct in this statement. He could have said that without taking a jab at @dovemtnMotors. It is a beautiful and what seems to be well-preserved 993 C4S.
I guess the issue many of us have is that the people who make the most comments (most of the time incorrectly) usually are the ones who never bid. So it can be frustrating. If you’re not bidding and you are a true expert that has valuable and accurate information, it is very much appreciated by me and most all others. Thanks. This is great that we can do this! Best to All!

@Robert718 I appreciate your knowledge about the badge. Thanks for that. Your opinion about my questions is not appreciated.

  • Robert718 (registered bidder) 4 years, 3 monthsago

@DoveMtnMotors you are actually incorrect. They are sold as 3 different pieces. A Carrera badge for a 2WD model would come in black. The AWD cars come in silver which is what the seller has pictured. The 4S are not part of the same badge, they are sold separately (since they are small individual letters perhaps they just were misplaced). The person who owned the car originally probably removed it for a cleaner look and purchased a replacement badge to include with the car like a responsible owner. Lets stop picking this guy's car apart over nonsense, if you are planning on bidding I am sure he will let you do a PPI.

On a side note, over the years I have had to replace at least 2 badges on mine by simply passing over it with a wash mitt and the mitt getting caught on the badge and breaking off a part of the "C"

@thestable, the badge for a C4S would be "Carrera 4S", not just Carrera. It would be useful to have paint meter readings from all surfaces of this car.

  • thestable (seller) 4 years, 3 monthsago

@DoveMtnMotors @DoveMtnMotors. We have assumed that the car is insignia delete. The photos taken by Richard Sloan, when he sold the car to our customer in 2006, show the car to be identical in appearance to the way it currently appears. The badge was with, but not on, the car at that time and remains now with it.

  • DoveMtnMotors (registered bidder) 4 years, 3 monthsago

The description does not mention the rear badge delete. Was it delivered as such or was it subsequently removed? The badge shown in plastic in the photos would not be correct for this car as far as I know.

    Hi the Stable;
    I have a ruby red 2012 997.2 Carrera S
with tan and a PDK one of the last 997’s but
the 993 6speed is more fun to drive especially when you put a billstein shock and spring package on it You do not
need the 385 ponies that the Carrera S to have fun

@Love2bugs --Thank you. It is and it is also my favorite color combination. I think that Arena Red with grey leather is nice, but, with Cashmere leather, is spectacular.

  • thestable (seller) 4 years, 3 monthsago

@buckshot111 --The air conditioning works great. In fact, the fellow to whom we sold the car 8 years ago, drove the car directly to Florida and kept it at his home there for 4 years before bringing it to his Northern home for the next four years.

  • thestable (seller) 4 years, 3 monthsago

@BlueTTop --I think that information was added by PCARMARKET and do not know which of you is correct. A limited production car, though, in any case.

  • thestable (seller) 4 years, 3 monthsago

@digit3 --On September 14, 2003, the original Carfax reported "minor damage" to the right front corner of the car. In January, 2006, the car was being offered by Richard Sloan, the Porsche specialist in Connecticut. His quote at that time was: "Two owner 1997 C4S finished in Arena Red metallic paint contrasted by a cashmere leather interior. Nicely optioned with the 6 speed gearbox, limited slip differential (LSD), anti-braking differential ((ABD), power seat package, automatic speed control, electric sliding sunroof, Porsche CD radio, Aero II Turbo S front air dam, Aero II Turbo S rear deck lid, 18" turbo twist rims, big red brake calipers, books records, beautifully maintained, cosmetic paintwork to front bumper and right fender by Porsche dealer, summer use only." He sold the car at that time to the
friend of ours from whom we purchased the car in April, 2012, then with 14,647 miles. We then sold the car to the fellow from whom the car has returned to us following 8 years and @17,000 miles of careful driving. The car has not changed in any regard since it was sold in 2006 when we first met the car. Since we did not know the car in 2003, we can not comment on the minor damage, but still can not see any evidence of the paintwork done then.

How is the A/C working in this car? Live in SW FL. important issue.

  • BlueTTop 4 years, 4 monthsago

Beautiful 993! The PadKeeper in the engine bay looks good.

Can you advise on this being “One of 627 examples built”? Publicly available records show 937 1997 C4S’ sold in the USA.
