We are pleased to present this 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera S finished in Black over a black leather interior. Acquired by the seller in 2018, this 993 C2S was treated to a no expense spared custom rebuild over the course of four years including a full glass-out repaint in its original color, an upgraded Rothsport 4.0L engine, custom 6-speed manual RS transmission, full ERP suspension package with OEM RS components, and an RS-style interior with genuine Sport Seats in Nappa leather. Inspired by the modern 911R, this Carrera S was built to be the ultimate naturally aspirated 993 utilizing as many original Carrera RS parts as possible while upgrading the motor with updated Mezger internals. Totaling over $230k in upgrades, every aspect of this project was specified to the highest standard in collaboration with Rothsport and Rstrada. With less than 100 miles on the newly built motor and transmission, this remarkable Carrera S is being offered for auction by its owner out of California.
The exterior of this 993 was recently refinished in its original color of Black (741) along with the installation of a new OEM windshield and rubber seals. The front and rear bumperettes were deleted, the door checks were repaired, and the car was fitted with Turbo S fog lights, European amber front and rear corner lights, and a new center reflector. The seller describes the paint to be in like-new condition, detailed photos are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report. Factory features include the wide fenders and bumper design of the Turbo model along with a unique split-grille rear decklid. The Turbo-spec brake calipers have been custom finished in Speed Yellow and the car rides on a set of three-piece 18” Tramont Cup Speedline-style wheels mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
Inside, this 993 features a black interior with hardback Sport Seats custom reupholstered in Nappa leather. The rear seats have been deleted and the door panels are replaced with Rstrada RXX RS-style door cards with yellow pull loops. The black and yellow motif continues with OEM yellow seat belts and custom Lloyd floor mats in black with yellow piping. A three-spoke Carrera RS steering wheel has been fitted as well as an RS shift knob, an aluminum Porsche Sport emergency brake handle, and a black Rennline pedal set. The original radio has been swapped for a Continental TR741UB-OR unit with Bluetooth connectivity paired with Focal component speakers in the door panels. This 993 also retains air conditioning with a custom installation from Rstrada.
The original 3.6L flat-six Varioram engine was replaced in favor of an upgraded 4.0L unit built and tuned by Rothsport, featuring custom pistons and cylinders, Carillo connecting rods, Rothsport X-treme cylinder heads with stainless steel valves, Elgin springs and titanium retainers, Rothsport high-lift camshafts, and a custom Rothsport MoTeC ECU with coil on plug ignition. Many original Porsche components were used in the engine's construction, including a 997 GT3 RS 4.0 crankshaft and engine bearings, a GT3 oil pump, GT3 intake plenum ceramic coated by Rstrada, OEM mechanical lifters, and a 993 Carrera RS pulley and motor mounts. The custom exhaust system includes Cargraphic headers paired with an X-pipe and finished with OEM Turbo exhaust tips. The engine was assembled using ARP hardware and has been tuned for an output up to 400 HP and 327 lb.-ft of torque with a 7800-RPM redline. The seller notes more power can be extracted from this engine using a GT3 center exhaust setup. The rear wheels are driven by a Rothsport-built custom RS G50/30 6-speed manual transmission, which has been completely overhauled by replacing gears 1-5 with OEM Carrera RS gears and new synchros while retaining the original 6th gear. It also features a Porsche Cup lightweight flywheel, a Carrera RS clutch, RS mounts, and an FD Motorsports short shift kit with the Golden Rod selector shaft.
The suspension of this Carrera S has also received a major upgrade, utilizing the ERP total package with JRZ RS adjustable coilovers specified by Rstrada and tuned by Rothsport as found in the custom Guntherwerks 911. The ERP package also provides monoball bushings, new front and rear control arms, adjustable rear camber and toe links, adjustable kinematic arms, and solid rear subframe mounts. As with the engine, several OEM Carrera RS parts were fitted in the suspension including the front and rear sway bars, front-wheel uprights, tie rods, drop links, and the front strut brace. The ride height has been adjusted to factory Carrera RS specifications.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s books, and documentation cataloging the build. Reimagined as the ultimate naturally aspirated 993, this painstakingly custom-built Carrera S offers a great opportunity for its next owner.

Looks like the guy that wanted the torque curves didn't bid. At all.
No offense but why put people out like that if you aren't serious? Happened recently on a GT3 auction and on the way to the shop to do the bidding of a non-bidder the car got hit.
Wow... congrats sixspeed71!
Sold for $290,000

Talk about a sportscar that can do everything !
And retain / increase in value
Wow !
( finally a 993 that IS REALLY WORTH 200 K ! )
Good luck all
Just about an hour left. Thank you all for the comments and feedback, the response has been extraordinary... Good luck to all the Bidders.
@MSQ Gotcha.. I don't have those numbers for you but I do currently have a stock 993 3.6 and can say this car has soo much more power down low. This car really pulls hard all the way to redline.
@ELV Not worried about drivability at all. Just trying to figure out what kind of torque this delivers at the low end. It's clear this build will most likely deliver more lb-ft at lower end of spectrum (which is good) but just trying to get a sense of "how much" in the lower ranges.
@switchcars Hah... Thanks Doug!
@MSQ I did not receive them yet. When i get the charts I will forward to the winning bidder. Sounds like you are worried about drive-ability? You can check my driving video. The car is very streetable with way more power than a standard car.
@ELV Any luck on getting Dyno output? If not are they at least able to tell you what the TQ is at say ~2500 and then at ~3500?
This is SICK.
That's all.

@sixspeed71 the car does not have PPF.
Is there any PPF on the car currently? Absolutely amazing build.
@Porsche416 you are seeing the RSR LWFW in action. The engine revs super quick. All gauges are working properly.
The tach looks "bouncy" or "laggy" in the video.
Is that just the video or is there something specific causing that? I know it has the lighter flywheel and RS clutch.
@bcgreen Too many California license plates.
@ELV I disagree, I lived there in Torrance. Crenshaw and Torrance blvd.
Bid in the amount of $171,069
Bid in the amount of $170,000
@bcgreen That was filmed in mexico. =)
@ELV Sure looks like Torrance blvd.
Here's a quick driving video.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3vO-PxuU8g
@McDuff The car does not have rear seat backs but does have the bottom rear seats.
@worldisflacht Thank you! its been a really fun project.
Will the removed rear seats come with the car?
Hard to imagine only driving this <100 miles after installing the new engine/trans before selling.
I remember seeing the blog post of this car being built when the owner originally started.
I believe it then, and I believe it now IMHO, this is the greatest 993 in existence, and that holds a lot of weight for me to say that.
If you are a detail-oriented enthusiast, and want the most hardcore built-993 available to man, this is the one to go all out for.
GLWA!!
@ELV Thank you.
I've been asked about uploading Rothsports invoice listing all the part numbers for this engine. There are a lot of other engine builders that would love to get a hold of this information and I will not be the one to spread it on the open market. That being said, the winning bidder will receive copies of the invoices.
@Porsche416 I'm working on this and hope to have something up in the next couple days.
@MSQ dyno charts have been requested. hopefully i'll be able to share before the auction ends.
@Nikojo Thank you!
@911reasons Yes the car is still matching numbers.
@ELV sent you a message via "contact seller" and no luck getting answer to below question, so will try here.
- do you have dyno print-out/graph (I assume so since its says 327 lb-ft, which seems pretty specific) and if so can you put it up here?
- if you don't want to share them can you at least tell me what the torque numbers are at 2500 RPM & 3500 RPM
What a beauty best of luck
Will you be providing driving videos/start-up videos and under carriage shots for those of us in the great white north who can't come see in person??
Just wow…….what else do you say when you’ve seen perfection. Perfect project plan. Perfect execution. This is like a ‘hole in one’………can’t be topped.
Wow.
Was the original engine block used in the engine upgrade? Same question about transmission.

I've had some requests to view the car before the auction ends. I'll be showing the car on Wednesday in Los Angeles. If you are interested in seeing the car, please private message me and I will give the time and location.
@Pchap4eva @TheKosherstogie @Davidmohlman Thank you for the comments!
seen it and want it
Beautiful car. Great build. Is the car smog legal in California?
I actually saw this car in person last week and the owner took me for a ride. I can assure all of the bidders that this car is fast, exquisite and there was no expense spared on his work. He’s a total enthusiast and his eye for detail is exceptional. Whoever buys this car will be ecstatic and totally pleased. Good luck to both buyer and seller.
Bid in the amount of $165,000
What a car! The ultimate stock-looking 993 build, done by the best in business. Great job @ELV on the presentation.
I know this car. No expense spared. Motor is gem!
Could you specify the tire and wheel sizes, please? Many thanks.
Absolute stunner. Bravo.
Your photos and studio look absolutely amazing.
@Radobob Thanks for all the positive comments!
I'll post some videos next week. Stay tuned!
@Porsche416 The car is being sold "as is" as represented.
@911reasons The car was painted for the following reasons. 1. Removal of bumperettes, stone chips and clear coat degradation. This car has never been in an accident or had major repairs.
I wanted the car to be perfect. The windows were removed and the body stripped to bare metal before being refinished.
@toby this is no where near a Gunter.
Need some videos of this bad boy!
What original parts come with the vehicle (if any)
Any bodywork or major repair work done on the car?
Amazing build.
Simply Stunning ...
Bid in the amount of $162,000
@toby Thanks Toby.. You are spot on.
@Porsche416 Its not an easy decision, however I have more projects in the works. Some of you may have seen my builds on Rennlist before. Soo selling a mint, just completed project is not unusal for me. I enjoy the process of building something unique.
Feel free to not answer, but why would you sell such a gorgeous creation?? Watching closely and possibly bidding.
Bid in the amount of $160,000
I have seen this car at Rothsport and its a beauty. Basically a Guntherwerks car but in sheep's clothing.
@turbotax yes it is
Is this car in SoCal? I think I've seen a video of it driving through the hills around there
@Porsche416 All of the work was done by Rstrada and Rothsport Racing. I do have receipts for the build that will be given to the winning bidder.
Can you comment on who did all of the work? Do you have receipts/documentation of the entire build process?
Thanks for checking out this auction. This car has been a passion project of mine for almost 4 years. This 993 C2S "R" is in immaculate condition and is a blast to drive. Happy to answer any questions you might have. Good luck and happy bidding.
Bid in the amount of $75,000
Wow! Gorgeous car, great build!
