Now available for auction is this 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera Coupe finished in Pastel Yellow over a black interior.  In addition to its rare paint color, this 993 was ordered with a 6-speed manual transmission, 18” Technology hollow-spoke wheels, Exclusive stainless-steel tailpipes, the Motor Sound Package, and power-operated seats.  Most notably, this Carrera has been treated to extensive maintenance and improvements over the years including a major engine-out service, new tires, a full application of paint protection film, an upgraded Bilstein PSS10 suspension, an upgraded Bluetooth sound system, an A/C system overhaul, and much more.  Accompanied by its original books as well as a thoroughly documented history of service showing no-expense-spared on proper upkeep, this outstanding 993 Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida with approximately 84k miles on the odometer.

This 993 was ordered in the nonmetallic shade of Pastel Yellow, a rarely seen color first offered in 1997.  It features Exclusive oval stainless steel tailpipes as well as factory 18” Technology hollow-spoke wheels with optional colored center crests.  Euro-style clear turn signal lenses have been installed, and the car was recently paint-corrected before a layer of Xpel clear paint protection film was applied over the full exterior in addition to a ceramic coating treatment.  The wheels were mounted with a set of new Michelin PS2 N3 tires in 2020 at 84,286 miles.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. Paint meter readings were also taken before and after the paint protection film was installed.

Inside, you will find a black interior with factory power-operated seats.  The radio has been removed and the sound system has been upgraded with a new Kenwood Bluetooth amplifier mounted under the passenger seat paired with new Infinity Kappa speakers and a low-profile subwoofer under the driver’s seat.  All the original stereo wiring has been left in place as well as the factory speaker grilles.  Any missing or worn interior pieces were also replaced including the dash switch housing, seat trim, and left-side armrest.  A Rennline magnetic phone holder has been installed and the original center console tray insert has been replaced with a new leather-wrapped Rennline cup holder.  A Rennline plastic liner has also been added to the underside of the front bonnet. The A/C system was completely overhauled by the specialists at Technical Dimensions in 2020 at 84,286 miles including a new evaporator, compressor, condenser, receiver drier, and O-rings.

This 993 is equipped with an air-cooled 3.6L flat-six engine featuring a Varioram variable-length intake manifold and the optional Motor Sound Package, which adds a more resonant airbox and louder mufflers.  As much as 282 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.  An engine-out service was completed by Monaco Motors in 2007 at 69k miles including cleaning of the cam towers, air injection ports, and heads, as well as a bottom end reseal.  In June of 2020 at 84,286 miles, another major service was completed by Technical Dimensions which included new billet valve covers and an upgraded Bilstein PSS10 suspension with new strut mounts, tie rods, and a four-wheel alignment.  The alternator, battery, and ground wire were also replaced by Porsche Jacksonville in April of 2021 following a comprehensive bumper-to-bumper inspection.  The inspection report is available for reference in the photo gallery along with all corresponding service records.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals, leather portfolio, a comprehensive collection of service records, and a clean title.  An exceptionally well-maintained example, this beautifully appointed 993 Carrera is a dream come true for any discerning air-cooled Porsche enthusiast.  Do not let this opportunity pass you by.

Seems like there should be some legs left in the bidding. GLWTA

@spinfree Sorry, I missed that last comment which included the clutch.

  • spinfree (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Apologize if I missed it on one of the service receipts, but I didn’t see anything about a clutch replacement or any transmission work. Is this still running on the original clutch?

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Also, as a reminder. This car has an engine out service 15,000 miles ago to re-seal the bottom end, full head/valve service, new clutch among many other items to strengthen the life of the car. Please take the time to read through the 60+ service records provided on the vehicle. I would personally place more value in having this level of documentation over a “level 2” PPI. Just wanted to make sure you noticed the services that have already been done to the car. ?

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@HlPlinker thank you for the respectful comments. As a dealer and an enthusiast, I appreciate the involvement in the auctions as it allows for confidence when bidding. The best way to answer your concerns of “depth of PPI” being completed is to remind everyone that these aren’t required and most people don’t spend the time/money to do anything. I take transparency serious with my listing and I think it’s very fair to say I provide far more support documentation than most other auctions. I want clean, transparent, and successful cars/auctions.

With that said, I completely understand bidders questions and concerns. I attempt to put the effort in to plan for all types of questions and I hope it shows. Good luck everyone

  • HlPlinker (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@RS136 I agree with you. This seems more like a "pre sale" check list instead of a full PPI. To the seller's defense, he did spend $ 1,500 that the potential buyer will not. Based on the inspection notes The rear brakes are getting close and I also didn't see any mention of clutch wear or type of clutch installed, alt amps, idle, choke, emissions, etc., but I may have missed it.
Also, only in my experience, I have never heard of an indy deem what depth of a PPI "needs to be preformed" based on presented previous service receipts or what the current owner describes what has been done to the vehicle lately. Never the less, the seller is being responsive and forthright.

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@RS136 I’ve attached the text response from the Tech that did the work. Let me know if any additional questions you might have. Thank you.

Forward: You can explain our PPI does not include compression or leak down, we do them based on service history and condition of the car. Basing off the history and condition of this car we deemed a basic ppi was sufficient. No fault codes in dme. Readiness is not set in SAI and o2 but since we do not have a PST2 tester is very hard for us to set readiness.

  • RS136 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

    PPI
Compression & or leak down ?
    Fault codes ?
    Readiness codes ?

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Good afternoon everyone, the PPI has been uploaded (pics 242-245). As you can see, this is car is as close to perfect as it could possibly be. I’m very excited to meet the new owner, good luck to everyone and we have 1 day remaining to squeeze any last minute questions in.

Good afternoon all, just a small update. I attempted to get the PPI repair order yesterday without success as the tech took the day off. I’ll make sure to attach it on Monday giving everyone enough time to review and ask any last questions. Thanks for your patience.

@wicks great question and yes, all original OE suspense comes with this auction if the winning bidder wants them.

  • wicks 2 years, 7 monthsago

Are the original struts, towers, etc in a box somewhere?

  • triggerc (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

    @DPL Thanks for the info!

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@triggerc the previous owner re-arranged the switches based on overall usage of each switch. The switches in question are not missing and are actually underneath/behind the Kenwood digital controller. If you pull the kenwood controller off you can put them back in place inside of 5 mins. The original trim is included with the sale as well. I chose to leave it as is due to the cleanliness of the install and quite honestly I prefer it over the OE setup. Thank you for the questions, I love the engagement.

  • triggerc (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Where are the central locking and warning cancel buttons? Usually those are next to the hazards button, but it looks like those are replaced by the spoiler and sunroof controls because of the placement of the kenwood control block.

@triggerc It’s not warped, It is a part of the bumper that popped out of place though, and the tech has already noted it to be clipped back into place. All of the media is done prior to the completion of the PPI and released slowly during the auction. Good luck, have fun, and hope to see you at the finish line.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or is the bottom left of the front bumper warped? Specifically the part where it connects to the center section of the lower part of the front bumper.

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Well that’s a good and bad news I guess? haha. I appreciate the support on the car, but I also wish I could provide this special ride for all interested parties.

  • bxfe 2 years, 7 monthsago

Saw it this afternoon at the dealer. Pictures don't do this car justice..............a truly stunning car. Going to be too high for me!

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@spinfree I’ve posted a third video of a cold start up and cold “drive by”. You’ll have to excuse my camera work as I’m not the pro but was the only one available to shoot today. I also took a video walkaround of the windshield and rear window rather than still shots. I figured you’d find better use of the video. I was told by the tech that the car was rained on while doing the road test yesterday so you’ll notice water spots and road dirt on the car. There’s a few dirt specks on the base of the windshield that I did not notice until editing the video. You seemed concerned about the Florida humidity in your previous comment, but I want to direct you to the CarFax as a reminder that this car has lived in the dry air of California for the vast majority of it’s life. No rust or corrosion to be concerned about on this unit. I’m confident you’ll love it. Hope this helps, and have fun with bidding. Hit me up with any other questions and the team will jump on it asap. ?

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@bxfe Good morning. Yes the car is finishing the PPI today but I think I will leave it there for the duration of the auction as there's half a dozon people that are coming to look at it prior to Tuesday. DM me and we can schedule a time for you to get connected with the Tech that is in charge of the car. We'll make time for you! DPL

Hey everyone. New photos and videos have been added to the listing included tire tread depth, and under belly(photos 222-231). Some of video shows the technician in the act of doing the PPI. The PPI will be uploaded tomorrow.

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@spinfree Thank you for the questions. I don't have any of those pictures at the moment but I'm headed to the vehicle tomorrow as the PPI will be completed by then and I can definitely take a few of those angles for you and have them uploaded. I hope this helps

  • spinfree (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@DPL Do you have any photos under the windshield and rear window seals? 993s can pick up rust under there, and it's hard to tell if you can't inspect the car in person. Seeing that's it's a high-humidity Florida car, it would be nice to have a peek under there. Thanks.

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@spinfree Thank you for the kind words, we put a lot of effort into the showcase of our cars. Yes the wiring is in tact and the grille covers as well, the OE radio does not come with the car as I did not receive it. I do have the radio manual and lockout code card for the radio though. Also, the Bluetooth controller is removable and the lower switches can be put back to original. The original trim comes with the sale as well. Good luck bidding and have fun with it.

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

I wanted to point out a few details as we get this auction started.
    1. This car has a full body Xpel PPF to protect, and preserve the paint. Pics 130-148 are the paint readings WITH the PPF to show the consistency of the paint not the thickness of paint as the Xpel adds 8-9 mm. The car is believed to have NO paint work based on this consistency outside of the front bumper. The bumper was painted by the previous owner to prepare the car for the Xpel PPF. Pics 149-151 were very difficult to get, but they show the paint PRIOR to the PPF being installed. Feel free to bust my chops over the quality of those pics, but remember that I’m as transparent as possilbe and I’d rather you have crummy pics over no pics. Insert joke here….
    2. The car is headed to Porsche South Orlando today for a PPI (pre purchase inspection) to further show the quality of this car. The PPI will be completed in a couple days.
    3. I’ll be taking pics of the belly while it’s at Porsche, and I can probably get a short video as well to show the bottom of the car.
    4. This vehicle comes with a limited print 1/3 signed by the photographer (Insta @rfmartinphotography). This will be a 24x36 print on metallic paper. Moving forward, all of my “select” cars will have this included as a fun gift for being a customer of our brand.
    5. Please take the time to thumb through all of the service records as the previous owners have done a great job maintaining the car and keeping the documentation for review.

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Good morning everyone, my name is Drew, and I'm here to answer any questions during or after the auction. I’m very excited to offer this rare Pastel Yellow 993 as this is a true speciman, and has clearly been very well cared for over the years. It only takes a few minutes to walk around the car to appreciate the love it’s received from new. The paint quality and overall condition will leave you speechless. For anyone that has previously purchased a vehicle from me will know that I'm an open book, so please ask any questions and I'll be sure to answer them as quickly and respectfully as possible. Traded vehicles are an option with me, feel free to DM with the details of your car, and I can even help you with financing terms if needed. Thank you for your interest and happy bidding. #PastelYellow!
