We are pleased to present this 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera S 6-speed finished in black over a black interior.  Representing one of the most sought after 993 models on the road, the Carrera S variant was launched in 1997 featuring naturally aspirated rear wheel drive performance packaged within the iconic widened body of the 911 Turbo.  This 3-owner 1997 example shows to have been well-cared for and is said to be up to date on all routine maintenance.  Accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity highlighting some noteworthy factory options, this 993 Carrera 2S is now being offered for auction in superb condition showing approximately 46k well-documented miles on the odometer.

The understated black finish on this 993 is said to be in excellent condition with some minor rock chips on the front bumper, detailed images have been provided in the photo gallery.  Acclaimed for its looks, the Carrera S shares the widened fenders of the Turbo model with a unique split-grill rear decklid.  Factory details include an optional rear window wiper, oval stainless-steel exhaust pipes and 18” “Turbo Twist” wheels which are currently dressed in Pirelli P-Zero tires.

Inside, the driver is situated in a black partial-leather interior with heated and power operated front seats.  The cabin is stated to be all-original and in fantastic shape with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional.  Having carried an original sticker price of over $73k, this Carrera S has been equipped with the following factory options:

  • Motor Sound Package
  • Rear Window Wiper
  • HiFi Sound System
  • Limited Slip Differential / Automatic Brake Differential
  • AM/FM Radio with Cassette Player
  • 6-Disc Remote CD Changer
  • Heated Seats Package
  • Power Seats Package
  • Oval Stainless-Steel Exhaust Pipes
  • Metal Doorsill Model Insignia
  • Aluminum Instrument Dials
  • Carbon/Aluminum Shifter and Brake Handle

Marking the final iteration of the air-cooled 911, this 993 retains its original 3.6 L flat-six engine which is rated at 282 HP and 250 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a number’s matching 6-speed manual transmission providing for a 0-60 time of approximately 5 seconds.  Factory features include a limited slip differential and the Motor Sound Package which adds a more resonant air box and mufflers.  A comprehensive collection of service records is included which details all of the routine maintenance performed throughout the years.  With a full standard service carried out in 2019, this Carrera S is said to be in ideal driving condition.

The sale of this 993 will include a set of two keys, the original books and tools, service records, a car cover and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.  This highly collectible 993 Carrera S makes an excellent choice for any passionate air-cooled enthusiast.

A 1998 S (993 C2S) Guards Red over Grey with similar mileage with 'Branded Title: Not Actual Mileage' with 7 prior Owners recently sold for $83k (including fees) at a different car auction site. Since this 993 S has a clean title with only 4 owners, it's definitely worth north of $100k, anything less than that will be a bargain.

@SShrem80 Yes, last service was on November 13th, 2018 at Motor Werks Porsche dealership in Barrington, IL. The miles at that time was 46,696 and the oil and filter were changed as well as brake fluid was flushed. At that time they also performed a multi-point inspection and advised that no other work is needed or recommended. The current odometer reading is 46,828 as I drive the car about 75 miles a year.

  • SShrem80 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@Two_tone_Tommy yup you are right thought i t was on 993 as well

  • Two_tone_Tommy (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

    @SShrem80 IMS issue ?!?!
    On a 993 ?
No Air-Cooled cars ever suffered from IMS issues. Are you commenting on the correct auction ?

so car was last serviced 20 months ago? how many miles put on in that time? any documentation of the stuff done on the car? IMS issue?

  • jsaban (seller) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@BLK87911 Yes, for the last 4 years that I have had this car I have not driven it much, which is why I am selling it. I have quite a few other cars and motorcycles which I rotate driving. I don't have paint meter readings for the car, but the paint is all original and looks great. The car has no oil leaks and had a full inspection at the Porsche dealership the last time I changed the oil in November 2018.

  • jsaban (seller) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@Jaeusa Unfortunately, I was not able to get paint meter readings for the car. The car is all original paint and the paint looks great.

  • rcannon911 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@SC1980 Actually I have seen pictures of the Carrera S Aluminum dial with Carerra S Logo.

  • jsaban (seller) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@Charlie83 To my knowledge the gauge has not been replaced, but I can look at records to verify

  • jsaban (seller) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@Charlie83 No cracks or warping on the dash

  • Charlie83 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

Also was the rev gauge replaced? Anyone please correct me if I am wrong but I thought all c2s models shows CarreraS on the bottom of the rev gauge?

  • Charlie83 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

Any cracks or warping on the dash?

  • jsaban (seller) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@Yopurp The car has been routinely serviced at Porsche dealerships with a clean bill of health each time. I will try to upload the service records in the next few days.

  • Yopurp (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

Can you post the last major service records? Has it had a PPI or similar inspection done? DME readout?? Anything showing the health of the engine and electronics? Most sellers do this up front to enable easy remote bidding/buying.

  • jsaban (seller) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@Charlie83 I do not have current paint meter readings, but prior to my purchase of the car the pain meter readings were all good. The car is a driver and has normal rock chips.

  • jsaban (seller) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@amardeil The car has not been painted and has no damage

  • c2silver (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

Its been over two an one-half days, and seller has not responded to any questions!

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

I think the 993 S and the 4S are the most comfortable, refined, fun to drive, dependable and the most beautiful, rare and the most exquisite compared to any other air cooled 911. Also, there is significantly an increasing demand and higher interest for the 993 compared to any other air cooled 911. The 993 is a total GEM all around and this is such a gorgeous car. The 993 will continue to increase in value/price every year because it has a sweet spot and it's the most favorite among the hearts of every air cooled 911 enthusiast. Good luck!
