Up for auction is this custom built 1997 Porsche 993 GT2-style tribute finished in Glacier White over a Metropol Blue leather interior.  Based on a standard Carrera 2, this 1997 example was sent to RST Motorsport in 2008 to undergo a comprehensive GT2-style transformation with a focus on using genuine Porsche parts.  Featuring a freshly rebuilt 3.8 L supercharged flat-six engine mated to a rebuilt 6-speed manual gearbox, this GT2 tribute is the result of over $100k worth of specialized work.  This one of a kind 993 is now being offered for auction bearing approximately 3k miles on its newly rebuilt motor.

This 993 remains finished in its factory specified color of Glacier White.  The paint is noted to be in great condition with clear protective film applied over the front bumper, hood and fenders. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.  A full GT2 body kit was professionally painted and installed which includes a factory front splitter, rear wing, side skirts and widened bolt-on fenders.  Other noteworthy details include Porsche Xenon headlights and 5-spoke Speedline-style wheels which come dressed in new Michelin Pilot Sport tires.  Carfax indicates some repair work on the driver’s door and the seller states that this 993 has seen minimal track use.

This 993 features a lightly modified Metropol Blue leather interior with factory power sport seats.  Features include new white-faced gauges, an upgraded carbon fiber shifter and brake handle, a custom GT2-style steering wheel, power windows and locks, air conditioning and a sunroof.  The cabin is stated to be in fantastic shape with slight wear on the driver’s seat and the seller confirms all gauges, electrical components and accessories to be fully functional.

Power comes from a newly rebuilt Rotrex supercharged 3.8 L flat-six engine which is rated at approximately 500 HP.  The original Tiptronic gearbox has been swapped out in favor of a factory G50 6-speed manual transmission with a short shift kit.  The engine features new pistons and cylinders, drive-by-wire throttle, Wevo engine mounts and stand-alone Haltech engine management.  The transmission has also been rebuilt with H.D. plates and steel synchro’s.  Performance modifications include Bilstein coilovers, upgraded sway bars and end links, strut supports and “Big Red” Porsche brakes which provide brutal stopping.  Approximately 3k miles have been added since the time of the engine rebuild and a full service is said to have been performed during fall of 2019.

The sale of this impressive build will include a set of two keys, original books and tools, extensive service records, a jack and spare tire.  The Carfax report does show a few mileage inconsistencies due to the Tiptronic-to-manual conversion and the installation of the custom white-face gauge package, according to the seller.  This custom supercharged 3.8 L 993 makes the perfect choice for any enthusiast in search of a high-performance air-cooled Porsche.

@Cjlangstslo car was originally imported to the U.S.A. moved to Canada in 2005.
Odometer can be rectified by CarFax connection, so I,m told! cert is possible...
The export fee iregardless of origin 20 years or more, is still subject to a tax of
around 2.75%. stated by a export agent. can supply a contact if needed.
    Tks B.

I suspect because this car isn't 25yrs old a lot of the potential US buyers have cold feet.. hence why this isn't jumping to 80k+. The issue I see with importing to the US would be if it has an emission label stating it is certified to the United States EPA federal emission standards and possibly having the odometer swapped out without proper documentation. @SCHNELLER11 are you familiar with the process of import/exporting vehicles in/out of Canada? Was the 993 originally purchased from PO in Canada? Does it have a visible emission label stating it meets US EPA standards?
Anyone else have insight into potential difficulties with exporting to USA?

The car is located in Canada.

Does the car come with a current year Ontario registration? Is there a document to assure buyer that there are no leins on the car in Canada?

@Cjlangstslo @Cjlangstslo. The 1 odometer / speedometer was changed out when the automatic was swapped for a 6 speed. Needed to have the speed register for future running as a GT2 TYPE. After some runs with a beefedup engine that did not work well, and 4 more years. In the shop to get through the totally new engine, I found an authentic cluster from a. GT2. to really make it right. It happened to have very few miles on it. Between these switches to authenticity, and the miles to kilometers during registration every year things may also been missed.
The damage from '03 has no records.
I'm certain it was minimal, not much gets done to a Pcar for $600!
    Tks. B.

  • Cjlangstslo (registered bidder) 3 years, 10 monthsago

Beautiful build! Love the color combo, White on Blue.
I've got a couple of questions:
    - Did you swap out gauge clusters or the PO roll the odometer back? Is that why the odometer readings are all outta wack?
    - Any pictures of the damage done to the driver's side back in 2003?

    Thanks,
    CL

@Craignyc hi: Tks for the imterest, ground clearance is 5.5". The suspension is fairly rigid with torsion bars and links but the shocks are coil-overs and fully adjustable; currently set at the bottom for soft operating abilitty. tks B

  • Craignyc (registered bidder) 3 years, 10 monthsago

What is the ground clearance in the front? And is there a lift kit for the suspension? Thanks
