We are pleased to offer this 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera S finished in Arena Red Metallic over a Cashmere Beige and Black interior. Perhaps the most sought-after 993 of all, the Carrera S is among the rarest models of the final air-cooled generation and sports the wide body styling of the Turbo model along with a unique split-grille rear decklid.  This 1997 example was originally delivered through Carlsen Porsche of Palo Alto, CA. and came factory equipped with the Motor Sound Package and lightweight 18” hollow spoke wheels.  Currently under the care of its second owner, this Carrera S was fully serviced by Porsche Monterey within the last year and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Tennessee with under 27k miles showing on the odometer.

This C2S was ordered in Arena Red Metallic, one of the most distinctive shades of the 993 generation. The seller describes the car to have been well preserved with only a few very small chips throughout the exterior, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This 993 was optioned with lightweight 18” Technology hollow spoke wheels derived from the Turbo model.  These desirable wheels feature colored Porsche center crests and have been mounted with new Michelin tires within the last several hundred miles.

This Cashmere Beige and Black partial leather interior features automatic climate control with A/C, a power sunroof, power-operated seats, cruise control, and an original Porsche CDR-210 radio.  The cabin is noted to have been very well kept throughout the years and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly.

Among the last of the air-cooled 911s, this 1997 Carrera S is equipped with a 3.6L flat-six Varioram engine that sends as much as 282 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. This example came optioned with the Motor Sound Package which equips a special airbox and louder mufflers for a more aggressive tone. The original dealer service log shows a history of routine maintenance, and an invoice from Porsche Monterey shows a full service to have been carried out in October of 2020 including an oil change, new belts, and a refresh of the ignition system.  Some invoices are provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals and window sticker, a set of keys, service records, a spare tire, toolkit, and a clean title. This beautifully presented 993 Carrera S is an excellent choice for discerning drivers and Porsche collectors alike, do not miss out.

    Ok all, we’re in the last hour of bidding and generally where the activity happens. One last note of confidence for the bidders. I would challenge anyone to find a nicer and more sorted example. This car can be concoursed or driven, it’s that car! Any last minute questions I’m on standby. Good luck to that winning bidder and don’t lose the car over a $1000 bid!

    I've had a couple of 993'2s with lots of miles and never needed any major engine work. Some end up with plugged air injectors that trigger a CEL, and that requires an engine out. When that occurs it's a good idea to replace the rear main Crank seal, and take a look at the clutch. As well, then of course all of the hoses/gaskets on top. Very nice car here.

    @Hunt @Hunt,

    I’m not sure what that test would look like but the old plugs came out and looked to be in good shape and new plugs in. With regards to oil consumption, in the short amount of miles I’ve driven it, nothing out of the ordinary on it. Can’t imagine this car needing a top end rebuild anytime soon.

  • Hunt (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

    ALL 993 engines will eventually need a top end rebuild by 100-120k miles; some happen around 30-40k miles. The best way to evaluate this is oil consumption and a simple spark plug read after at least 1-2k miles on the plugs. Have you ever done this or has this car been tested? Any mechanical issues you’ve been made aware of?

    @Dutchburgess @Dutchburgess.
    I apologize, I did send in 4-5 driving videos. Not sure why they didn’t upload. I’ll work on that with PCar. With regards to the chips noted. There aren’t any there large enough that would show up in pictures, we’re talking that small. The car is overall in near perfect condition.

  • Dutchburgess (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

    Did I miss something? Didn't see the driving video's...
    Could you point out any paint chips in the body....I can see a few from the pics under the car, but would like to see the body chips a bit more closely.

  • Wkstatt9 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

    I am local and personally looked at the car today, It's a stellar example. I metered the paint and the whole metered between 3.5 and 6. There was no evidence of any paintwork anywhere on the car including the cowl and roof due to the common rust bubbling around the windshield and rear window gaskets that affected the majority of 993 cars..

    @DrJC I don’t have a paint meter but I believe all the paint to be original as I’ve known the previous owner and don’t know of any paint work. The paint is pretty perfect all around. The driving videos are in the gallery.

  • DrJC (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

    Is the paint all original?
    Will you be posting paint meter readings?
    Also, will there be a driving video?
    Thank you

    @dennisconnie2 the mats and carpeting are in great shape. I saw that too, it’s honestly the lighting the way the picture was taken. There is no concerns on the mats or carpet.

  • dennisconnie2 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

    Oops, please do an interior detail.
    What’s up with that dirty drivers floor
    mat?

    Up for auction is the pride and joy of my Porsche’s. In my opinion there has not been one up for auction this nice and this well sorted out. I had been trying for years to acquire this car from the original owner. Finally a little over a year ago the opportunity presented itself and I was quick to add this car. Fast forward today and a car has came up that I never though I would have the chance to purchase that I just simply can’t pass up. Unfortunately something has to go and now someone else will have that same opportunity as my self. This 993 is in my opinion the combination of choice in Arena Red over Cashmere, a poster combination of the 90’s “Kills Bugs Fast”. All service is up to date, including the major service completed just a year ago. Pictures of this service being completed in the gallery. All well documented including receipts, books, keys, window sticker all included in the sale. The car drives as well as it did when it was new. Win trophies or drive it around, it’s that car. Good luck bidding on this unbelievable opportunity, one that no doubt I will regret one day
