Representing the second generation of BMW's high-performance M3, the E36 model combined BMW Motorsport-derived technology and experience with everyday practicality and luxury. First introduced in 1994, the E36 M3 received a facelift in 1995 in addition to a new 3.2-liter S52 engine. Equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, this M3 comes finished in Cosmos Black over a Grey Nappa leather interior and features several performance upgrades and custom modifications. Cared for by one owner until the seller’s acquisition in late 2021, this 1998 example is now being offered for auction out of Illinois showing just under 37k miles on the odometer.
This M3 comes finished in Cosmos Black and M3-specific bumpers, side skirts, and mirrors in addition to a decklid spoiler and dual exhaust outlets. Upgrades include Porsche 993 Turbo (Big Red) front brakes fitted beneath a full set of SSR Type 3 racing wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires dated from 2020. The seller states new headlights have been installed and the original driver’s side headlamp with an air duct installed will accompany the sale. The seller also states all original panels and paintwork remains and this M3 was used for HPDE driving events and BMW CCA track instruction under previous ownership. The driver is situated within a Grey Nappa leather interior with a contrasting dashboard and center console. Standard features include power-adjustable and heated Sport Seats with M-striping, dual-zone automatic climate control, an onboard computer, a Harmon-Kardon audio system, M3-logo door sills, and power windows, door locks, and mirrors. A MOMO racing steering wheel has been fitted along with a UUC weighted shift knob, a full roll cage, and a fire extinguisher. Some signs of wear are noted throughout the interior.
This E36 M3 is powered by a 3.2-liter S52 inline six-cylinder engine which produced up to 240 HP and 236 lb.-ft of torque when new. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transmission and a mechanically-locking limited-slip differential. The seller adds that modifications include a B&B tri-flow exhaust system, an M50 manifold borrowed from a 1995 M3, H&R coilovers, and Porsche 993 Turbo "Big Red" front brakes. Noteworthy service items are said to include refreshments to the radiator, pump, cooling system hoses, alternator, and battery, along with an oil change, brake fluid flush, and differential fluid change.

@Firewood this car wasn’t driven. It was in storage. The couple was elderly and they wanted to keep miles low on this one hence why it only has 36k miles!

Very cool M3. These E36s keep rising in price, getting very collectible & snatched up. But I'm confused re the mileage records on this one... from 2005 to 2020, just 11 miles in 16 years? Is that correct, or am I reading something wrong? Where was the car during that long time? Did the prev owners never drive it? Even when their other "white car" was n/a? Please straighten me out. Thanks & glwta.

@Spazaz88 This car has actual miles, it was not driven much. Just a few miles here or there on the track it started out as a street car and then was converted, the husband and wife had a white car with 54k miles and then this one was the lower mile example they did not use as much.
Carfax report lists mileage at 35,989 in 2005 then 36,000 16 years later. For 16 years was the car stored? Or more likely TMU or replaced odo? Then only 848 miles in 2+years. Are they not counting track miles?

I bought this from a couple that owned two of them in North Carolina, they were bmw cca track day instructors. This vehicle has all vin tags and original paint.
