We are pleased to present this 1998 Porsche 993 Carrera S Coupe finished in the desirable combination of Speed Yellow over a black leather interior.  Low mileage, a 6-Speed manual transmission, factory Sport Seats, Motor Sound Package, and a recent mechanical overhaul are just a few reasons this U.S example is so special.  It is now being offered by its seller in exceptional condition with only 44k miles on the odometer.

The iconic Speed yellow finish on this 993 is stated to be in excellent condition with clear paint protection film covering the front bumper, partial front fenders, mirror covers and half the hood for the next owners convenience.  Detailed images are available in the photo gallery.  Sharing the bodyshell of the 993 Turbo and 4S, this Carrera S highlights re-sculpted bumpers, widened fenders and enhanced side skirts.  Other noteworthy exterior features include a retractable rear split-grill spoiler and staggered-width 18” Turbo Twist wheels which are currently wrapped in brand new Pirelli P Zero tires.

Inside, this Carrera S is appointed with a black leather interior that features a pair of factory hard-back sport seats.  The seller has noted the interior to be in fantastic shape with only a few typical creases showing on the driver’s seat.  Accompanied by an original window sticker totaling over $73k, this 993 is outfitted with driver centric options such as an AM/FM radio with CD player and a HiFI sound package.  All electronics and accessories are said to be in working order.

Now featuring a completely overhauled engine, transmission, suspension, and all new brakes, this Carrera S stands in exceptional driving condition.  Records also indicate that this Carrera S was always properly maintained with annual services.

The Sale will include books, two keys, tools, an original window sticker, and a Porsche car cover.

@JAB12, agreed that seemed a gracious plenty for what is clearly a fabulous car, but bid accordingly.

Actually, am impressed the car was bid this high and must say it was encouraging in its own way. Nonetheless, seller’s prerogative to hang on.

Interestingly, it is currently shown in daily PCAR email as “Recently Sold”. So is it sold or not? Admittedly I don’t fully understand this site.

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

    @JAB12 indeed

  • JAB12 (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

    @igirard RNM at $105k? 44k miles?

Unexpected paint meter readings. The clear protective coat is only on the front of the car, correct?

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@Thatpainterguy12 It was dust and pollen.

  • Thatpainterguy12 4 yearsago

Can you describe what is around the fuel filler cap? Is it pollen, or certainly not factory overspray?

  • HillClimber72 (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@oter919 I was thinking the same thing as I look at the driver side bolster. I own a 1996 993 TT with sport seats, 43k miles and they don't show any where near this wear. Just an observation.

  • oter919 (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@igirard My intention is not to offend anyone but after 44,000 miles the German Leather OE seat covers would NOT be showing any wear whatsoever, that is the finest leather known to man and tough. Please do not take my comment personal it is simply my observation and my opinion. I am reasonably certain that everyone who has owned a 911 knows the game, if not they would be very naive.

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@oter919 The car is 22 years old and was in California in the heat so leather can dry and micro-crack.

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@HillClimber72 They will be uploaded soon.

  • HillClimber72 (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

Would you mind posting paint meter pics?

@1973hp sorry. No you don,t have to pay Canadian taxes if the car goes to the US and is registered in a US state.

  • 1973hp (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@siabond26 yes. When registering the car in the US, state taxes are paid according to the tax rate of the city you live in. I was more interested in knowing if I'd also have to pay a 'Canadian tax' since the car is registered there.

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@siabond26 I think so. I'm in Canada and that is what I did in Canada, I paid sales taxes in my province.

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@1973hp When you register the car in your state, then you pay sales tax in the state/county that are registering the car in , please confirm.

    @Hawkman Thank you, I will.

  • Hawkman (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

Seller, please post photos of all aspects of the drivers door jamb and the US DOT sticker/decal.

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@1973hp yes everything works fine. I will get some pics of open sunroof and tail up. Thank you.

  • 1973hp (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@igirard thank you for the translation. Do all the AC settings work, including all the fan speeds?
Can you please post pics with the sunroof and rear deck grill open?

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@siabond26 I asked PCARmarket to post the entire invoice.

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@1973hp if it goes to the US, then there is no Canadian tax to be paid. If it goes to the US, I'm not sure honestly. I'm tracing the US title as we speak so that may help avoid US tax.

  • 1973hp (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

Does anyone know whether Canadian AND US taxes will have to be paid?

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

To Seller: could you post the service records/statements for the repair work that you paid for, thanks

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@Hawkman No rust at all in the trunk and near the battery.

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@Hawkman it has been added. Thanks.

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

This is a stunningly beautiful 993 S, definitely a keeper and will always be very desirable and in high demand. Gorgeous!!!!

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@jerry991 yes I wanted it to be perfect and leak-free.

  • jerry991 (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

So the engine was rebuilt because of some oil leaks?

  • Hawkman (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

    One more-
Do you have a copy of a US title or a copy of a US registration and the original Canadian import documents?

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@Narbeh Yes, nothing was changed in that aspect.

  • Narbeh (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

Are all emissions/cats in place to pass smog in CA? since it was in CA originally they should be correct?

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@1973hp Let me try to list everything and translate the new parts: engine was removed and taking apart. Heads were taken apart and washed and valves checked. Exhaust valves were replaced. Alternator was taken apart (fan and housing) and belt pulleys were replaced. All parts from the engine were cleaned. Transmission and muffler were cleaned. The block was dismanteled and bearings were replaced. All connecting rod bearings were replaced and torque to specs. New front crank seal. New intake varioram valve module. Cleaning of the injectors and replacement with new o-ring. New wiring cables. New lifters in rockers. Four oxygen sensor replaced. New piston rings. New gas filter. New cranshaft bearing. New sound panel installed in the engine compartement. New pollen filters. New wires for the secondary air pump. New flywheel in the transmission, new pilot bearing. New Bilstein front right and left shock absorbers. New brake fluid. This is covering most of it and what I could translate from the invoice.

I know you provided the service invoice in the pics but I don’t read French. Can you please specify what all was done to the engine and tranny?

  • igirard (seller) 4 yearsago

@Hawkman Pictures of under the car will be added soon and I will take more photos from the front trunk around the battery.

  • Hawkman (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

Would you kindly present photos of the frunk floor adjacent to the battery and the undercarriage, thanks.

Thank you guys for the questions. Here are some answers and comments to give you a bit more info on the car. The car is located near Montreal, Canada. Radio/CD player works fine as new. Everything works in the car. The spoiler motor make a little noise (normal) when it goes up and down. I bought the car from San Diego where it had 3 previous owners in that region. When it got in Montreal I took it to Lauzon Porsche (Porsche Classic center) to have it completly checked. There were a leak from the engine and one from the transmission, but very minor. This is typically found on low mileage car that are not driven enough and when they are driven not for long enough to get the engine and seals hot. So I decided to overhaul the engine and transmission. Both were taken completly apart. In addition, I changed tires, shocks, cleaned the wheels, changed brakes, powder coated the brake calipers, so the bill went up to 40k Canadian Dollars. So the engine is like new and run like new. No more leaks. I don't have the compression test since it is new. I have done 200 miles in one shot since the engine overhaul. I have some pictures of the bottom in very good condition. It is still covered with the yellowish wax they apply at the factory when they built the car. In term of modifications, the only thing is that it is sitting on H&R sport springs, which lower the car a bit. I have the original spring in a box that comes with the car. Concerning paint work, I did not do any and when I bought the car they told me the same. The color and paint is very uniform over the entire car. I took some readings using a meter (Fender Splendor FS488) . The four fenders are testing 7-8. The hood and roof are testing 4.5-5.5. The carfax is clean. No signs of accident on the whole car. Please feel free if any other questions.

This is one incredibly beautiful 993. Great options and seriously nice detailing. Can you shed any light to why the $40k service/overhaul on a 40k mike car?

  • Narbeh (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

Any paint meter readings to share? Also can you post compression/leak down results?
