It is our pleasure to present this 1998 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta F1 finished in Giallo Modena over black leather.  One of the most iconic sports cars of the 1990s, the Pininfarina-designed F355 is among Ferrari’s most successful models and features a mid-mounted V8 engine rated at 375 HP.  Accompanied by original books and tools, this 1998 example is equipped with the innovative F1 automated manual gearbox and is said to have spent most of its life in California.  With a major service carried out in October of 2020 including the replacements of timing belts, this F355 shows just under 30k-miles on the odometer and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Scottsdale, AZ.

The bodywork is styled by Pininfarina and factory finished in Giallo Modena.  Scuderia shields were added to the front fenders and paint protection film has been applied over the front bumper and mirror covers. Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX.  Some distinctive design elements include large side air intakes, pop-up headlights, and a louvered rear engine cover.  This example rides on factory 18” 5-spoke wheels dressed in Michelin tires.  Some imperfections can be seen on the wheels and the seller reports that new front tires were installed in October of 2020.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in black leather with matching carpets.  Noteworthy details include embossed headrest logos, drilled aluminum pedals, and F1 paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel.  The driver is also supplied with a Ferrari cassette radio, power accessories, and an air conditioning system which is said to have been recharged earlier in 2020.

The F355 carries a mid-mounted 3.5 L F129 V8 DOHC engine with 5-valves-per-cylinder and dry-sump lubrication.  As much as 375 HP and 268 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a Formula 1 derived “F1” automated-manual 6-speed transaxle.  The factory maintenance log shows a preemptive 30k-mile service to have been carried out in 2013 by Ferrari of San Francisco. More recently in October of 2020, a major service was performed at a cost of nearly $7k including an oil change, new tensioner bearings, radiator hoses, and timing belts.  The front struts are also said to have been replaced during the current ownership.

This sale will include the original owners’ manuals, toolkit, maintenance log, a recent invoice, and a clean title.  Now is your chance to own an increasingly valuable F355 Berlinetta, do not miss out.

@Reh2626 Controls on center console has a new flat panel. Some pictures unfortunately were taken before new panel plate was added. When I received the car the panel had wrinkles. Sorry for the confusion.

  • BritishMGTD52 (seller) 3 yearsago

@Reh2626 1) Do you have other maintenance or repair receipts? Receipts are shown in the pictures along with signed warranty book.
    2) Have you done the complete 30k mile Service? Service performed and signed off. Done Oct. 2020
    3) Switches get sticky over time. Has that been corrected? No sticky switches.
    4) Center console looks wrinkled? Bad picture. Console is fine.
    5) Are all gauges working properly? All gauges working in good order.
    6) Brake pads replaced? At what mileage? Pads checked and look very good since car has less than 30K miles.
    7) Anything else need attention? No attention needed. Car is in great condition, feels almost brand new.

Many Ferrari owners have added the Scuderia Shields to their cars. Concours is a difficult class to achieve is a car used often.

  • BritishMGTD52 (seller) 3 yearsago

@Fisher617 Concours: No sign of wear throughout the car. A slight line in leather or a label not perfectly mounted are detractors from this class. The driver side seat has a slight line in my car. Extreme cleanliness throughout the vehicle. All original parts not modified. Adding the scuderia shields violates the concours class. Engine, body, VIN must be in agreement from new.
My car has almost 30K miles of use and shields. Most concours cars would not have that must use and no shields.

  • BritishMGTD52 (seller) 3 yearsago

@phowley Shields are not factory installed. Ferrari starting adding the shields in later model cars. These shields in high quality were added when I purchased the car.

  • phowley (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

    Question about the Scuderia Shields.
They were added on the car by you, not a factory option?
    Thanks.

  • Fisher617 3 yearsago

Closest to a concours? What is your definition of concours?

  • BritishMGTD52 (seller) 3 yearsago

I am the owner of this car and ready to answer your questions. The car is the closest to a concours level. F1 represents the coming of automatic transmissions based on F1 racing hardware.
