Available for auction is this 1998 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Black over a black interior. Carrying a 3.6L flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, this 993 represents the final year of the air-cooled Porsche 911. This example is said to have been purchased and regularly serviced through The Collection of Miami, Florida, and is now being offered showing just over 84k miles on the odometer.

This 993 is finished in Black with a matching Cabriolet soft top. The seller notes that the vehicle's finish shows a few areas of wear was depicted in the photo gallery. The CARFAX report indicates an accident in 2004, however, no additional information is available.  This 993 rides on a set of Porsche 996 18” Carrera five-spoke wheels that have been powder coated black and come dressed in a set of Kumho tires which are recommended for replacement due to age.

Inside, you will find a black interior with reupholstered electrically adjustable front seats. A new Porsche Classic radio is installed giving the driver USB and auxiliary inputs for audio playback. The seller notes wear on the shift knob, and slight cracking on the dashboard but adds that the cabin is overall well preserved with all gauges, lights, and accessories working properly.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.6L flat-six Varioram engine capable of producing 282 HP.  The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission which allows this 993 to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5 seconds.  Renowned for its handling capabilities, the 993 generation featured a new alloy multi-link rear suspension as well as upgraded power steering, larger brakes, and dual-flow exhaust. The seller notes that this Carrera had its cylinder heads replaced at 25k miles along with the air conditioning and heating assembly. The CARFAX report also shows a history of service through The Collection dating back to 2001.

Included in the sale will be extensive service records, one master key, books, and a spare tire. Do not miss your chance to own this driver quality, final-year Porsche 993.

@LongwoodCharger Yes, there are a few spots that the clear coat has faded. I belie it's either from Florida sun or over buffing. From my experience, it's most common on black 993s.

@vertexauto Is that clear coating/paint rubbed off the front fenders and driver's door? From over zealous detailer or car cover?

A new video has been added to the listing page.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@LongwoodCharger I believe it was for the control unit. That was the $8,777 invoice back in 2015.

  • LongwoodCharger (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@VertexAuto What was the insurance claim for? I see there was a $500 deductible. Was it for the windshield? 8.5 hrs for dings?

@porsche_dreamer The car had several dents. Door dings, fender dings, etc. They were removed.

  • porsche_dreamer (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@VertexAuto Your response did not seem to address the 8.5 hours of dent removal time.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@LongwoodCharger The paint work was due to the removal of the stone guards, not an accident.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@LongwoodCharger The invoices did not get updated mileage. Sorry for the confusion.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@artichoke I believe they were painted red.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@ProducerJohn @pcarmarket Can you please post the drive video that I uploaded a few days ago?

  • artichoke (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

We're the original brake calipers painted red, or were they replaced with Big Reds???

  • LongwoodCharger (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

    @Vertexauto
Also, can you clarify why there was an insurance claim as stated on invoice#10241133, with over 8.5 hrs of dent removal service and another 5 hrs of repainting of left/right quarter panels (pic #97 invoice)? Sounds like an unreported accident or damage? Thanks

  • LongwoodCharger (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

can you clarify from your service records that the car sat at 82,805 miles from early 2015 to early 2018? With over 10 service records from your dealership during the same time?

  • ProducerJohn (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

    Not seeing a driving video.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@pcarmarket I just uploaded all the service documents and a drive video. They should be up shortly.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@luis.seneriz Yes they are 18 inch wheels.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Are the wheels 18’s. My 996 has 408s which are turbo hollow 18 inch wheels since it’s an early car the wheels have 993 part numbers so they would be period correct for this car.

@VertexAuto thanks. Yes, I would get that oil change. And also I’ll put some stuff in the tank get that fuel system clean. Few triple digit trips Italian tune up. I drove my 996 1300 miles in January all the way from Wisconsin in 22 hours, that included a 3 hour stopover for dinner catching up on emails and such.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@luis.seneriz We inspected the car and found some minor things that will be address this week. Alternator belt, belt tensioner, and the fan housing air duct. As for driving it back to Texas, I don't see why you would have any issues. A full tune up and major service was performed at 82,805 miles (11/13/2007) It included a clutch kit, clutch slave, spark plugs, ignition wires, ignition distributor, ignition cap & rotor, valve cover gaskets, air filter and oil change. I would suggest at least an oil change before going on that drive. As always, we would be willing to work with the buyer on any service they would like for us to perform prior to releasing the car.

I'll be posting the service documents he have later today along with a drive video. The service documents date back to 2013.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@CarsonRoberts99 No leaks. The car has lived in rainy South Florida and no issues. The top works well and a video will be posted today. Thank you!

  • CarsonRoberts99 2 years, 7 monthsago

Does the roof leak? and does the convertible function properly, maybe a video of that would be nice.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@PompousAss It's an auction. Current price is $0.00
